  1. "a nice amount of pain" a nice amount of pain, granmasterchen? isn't that a contradiction of terms there? i was always taught that pain wasn't very nice.
  2. what i've always wanted to know is why there is brail on the key pads in drive through atm machines
  3. i practice hwarang do. the trouble is, i myself am not positive about how it started. the story we go by with blind faith is that our grandmaster, dr. joo bang lee, picked the art off of a monk he trained with or something like that, and the art was passed from generation to generation and had been for 2,000 years or something like that. but there's been a lot of political scandal, so much so that i'm not even sure history of the style i just gave is the one i was taught in class ( i probably jumbled them together ) and there are people calling other people frauds and it gets real messy. i don't really care, though, cuz i like the art . the style its self is both hard and soft, and has strikes and grappling and locks and a whole slew of good stuff. it had an article in some martial arts magazine because the full curriculum has 108 weapons with 4,000 specific techniques (and there are actually people who've mastered them all )

  5. well, i live in a roughly secluded state (wisconsin) and i'd say that people aren't ignorant so much as they're uninformed. a lot of people will find out i'm in martial arts and will either go "psh! why bother? that stuff aint worth #$%! in a real fight" or they make up some accent and do a little bow or strike a pose and make a high pitched noise that i think is supposed to resemble yelling but i've never quite been able to place it but my dad used to be one of those people, but as he kept coming to my classes (because he had to drive me there) and kept watching me and my class mates do more and more impressive things, he started believing and such. i think a lot of the problem, at least here in WI, is that a lot of the people think that all martial arts can only be done in the movies. they see a straight punch and don't see how you could get any power; that you would have to swing your arm way back, y'know?
  6. i'll keep that in mind
  7. see, i could go for that. but i'm on a librarian salary, so... yeah, $140's a little steep
  8. what i wanna know is: kickchick, what were you looking under to find that
  9. "My favorite is Jet Li {Once Upon a Time in China} " i just saw that the other day; that's become my favorite martial arts movie!
  10. "in find it surprising how bush could blew up surplusses and the growing economy in no time at all. " i hear that! and i agree with you that one day there will eventually be peace. here's hopin' it's soon
  11. that's a GOOD price!?! so expensive!!!
  12. "Now im off to stake/steak battousai16..." geez, first you take away my right to talk about bond movies, and now you're out to kill me? that seems a little harsh!
  13. really, mr/ms. british pride? because mr. connery was scottish. lazenby was australian. dalton was welsch. brosnan is irish. the only bond who was actually british was roger moore, who was arguably the most dull actor of all of them. bond is a big cultural melting pot besides, to say that only british people should be able to talk about bond, isn't that a little nazi-riffic? i fail to see how an american can't be just as big a bond fan as a british person. britishian. britite. uh... help me out here.
  14. "ps dont try to do an elbow smash or heel thrust off of a three story building to try and crush your target...that is just asking for trouble..." really? i'd have never guessed THAT
  15. see, that's why you just move to WI. if anyone ever has a knife, they don't go for strategy or intelligence. they just make wide, swinging motions; always horizontal. it makes training a lot easier god i love being a townie
  16. yeah, it did seem like there were a lot of wholes in the new one. it was still good. the trouble comes that in WI, you can't just walk down to the local grocery store and find asian mangas. i suppose i could look online, but that's a lot of effort
  17. "trolling, trolling, trollin..." geez, that's gonna be in my head for the rest of the day
  18. "Trollin, trollin, trolling... keep Thai Fighter trollin... boy his head is swollen... raw-hide!" we can open another thread for that
  19. i'd like to see that
  20. we've gotten quite a bit off topic however. shouldn't we be giving this guy our feed back instead of bashing muaythaifighter?
  21. "A Tai chi fighter whoops up on me to prove a point!!!!!.Now that's a funny one, considering tai chi doesn't have fighters and is more of an art of relaxation then a martial arts." i'm well aware of that; that was more or less my point. and if you can't see the practical applications of tai chi for fighting, i hope it happens soon.
  22. that's one of the coolest emoticon thingies i've ever seen
