"kinda like the billy joel song. " long live billy joel!

ok, maybe y'all can clear this up for me. what is NHB/K-1 and why are they always the deciding factor in these matters? they seem kind of irrelavent to me. whatever. and after i win the UFC with TKD, i'm gonna do it again with tae bo, just to have some fun.
-
very impressive monkeygirl , was that from memory or did you look it up? not everyone knows about peter sellers. you can't say that the movie wasn't official because it wasn't based on an original ian fleming story. you've obviously never read The Man With the Golden Gun or Moonraker it's kind of funny, the books and the movies have almost nothing to do with eachother. And fireka, did you say that never say never again was a GOOD movie!?! i don't think i've ever heard anyone say that before!!! i'm gonna assume you never saw thunderball. it's a far superior version of never say never again.

"TKD is not good for self defense." who said this? i've one many a skirmish with TKD... well, by many i mean like 1, maybe 2, but percentage wise that's quite a few. that's nearly half. i don't know my a roundhouse kick to the head seems so impractical to every one! how come a side kick to the stomach wont work on the street? and why does everyone think that punches don't exist in tae kwon do!?! and when did the fighters of UFC become the fighting gods of the world? i'd never even heard of the UFC before i came to this forum. i'm willing to bet taht the founders of any given martial art weren't a 250 pound sweaty guy in a thong and knee high boots. well, not thong, speedo thingy or whatever. and remember this is based on the 2 UFC clips i've seen. anyway. i was not very impressed. i'm gonna go into the UFC and win with TKD, just to show you.

"I guess ignorance really is bliss" yeah, we can't all be omnipotent. i bow down to your genius

any art is good for self defense if you can correctly apply it. i'm not absolutely sure of this, there's a bit of political corruption and scandal in my art (hwarang do), but i heard that hwarang do is the parent of tae kwon do. after hwarang do was outlawed (at this point it was supposedly passed down person to person in secret), a more linear and less lethal version was created, hence where tae kwon do comes from. again, i'm really not sure. scandal/corruption thing. my point was to say that one art is just better than the other is kind of pointless. afterall, who are you to judge? by that logic, i, being a hwarang do practitioner, should be able to take you all out, as i have 4,000 moves coming form all sorts of styles in all aspects, from striking to grappling, and 108 weapons at my disposal. however, from what i've read, i don't know that i could take on half if not less of the people here. and for the record, i've defeated both karatekas and tae kwon do practicioners. i guess what i'm really trying to get down to is that it's all about the fighter.

countering roundhouse kick to ribs
battousai16 replied to DIABLO's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
as you can see diablo, there are countless counters for everything. the best one, IMO, is the one where you don't get hurt. some of the people on this forum may say otherwise... crazy people... but yeah. just my opinion. -
AND except for us people here in WI, who know that that artificial cheese flavoring just doesn't hold. you need real cheese, baby!
-
you missed for your eyes only and casino royale. you know about from russia with love... uh... yeah, i think that's all of them. but there are two versions of casino royale, if you REALLY wanna get into it. however, niether casino royale or never say never again are official bond movies (weren't released by united arts or MGM), so you could get away without spending money on them and still say you have them all

hmmm... that's intereting, young martial girl. perhaps you could explain it? because i recall hearing you say, and i quote: "Well, I guess I have to repeat again: T H E R E I S N O B E S T M A R T I A L A R T" that said, how come there can be no best martial art but what can still be elevated from the rest? not to be disrespectful or rude, just curious as to your take on this.

Should blackbelts be withheld until a certain age?
battousai16 replied to karatefox's topic in Karate
ah, but you see, the problem that lies there is that there is so much more to the martial arts than just fighting. ones philosphy, understanding of the applications of techniques, behavior, they all factor in to achieving a blackbelt. even in a competition stand point, if i preformed the greatest form anyone had ever seen in their entire life, and then i got creamed in sparring, would that mean i wouldn't get my black belt? because i lost to some immature punk (not to say that anyone who beats me is a punk, i'm merely trying to counter balance what i said earlier ) has a faster punch, kick, and is all around faster than me? people seem to think that black belts are invincable. we're only human, afterall. at least i am. i've seen and heard some stuff from other people... granmasterchen, did i read your post right when you said you spun around on your head and kicked your sensei? -
i guess it's just a matter of taste then, because my sister thinks she'd rather have a bald guy have a comb over than shave there head ah, i'm young and spry and i aint bald yet. my plan is to marry before i lose my hair, than they're screwed when it all falls out. heh heh. jokes on them when they wake up one morning to find a big mass of hair next to them.

perhaps it would be easier to finish, but i believe the person absorbing information from it would get more out of it if it were in book form. just my thought. i dunno, maybe i'm just biased cuz i work in a library
-
or so they think, until i pull out my Q branch pen that turns into a bullet proof shield and deflect the bullets. then, as the monte norman theme starts to play out of no where, i'll press a small button on my belt buckle, where a helecopter propeller will lift out the back of my jacket and fly me to safety.

my my my, mantis warrior. may i remind you "fighting out of hate brings only disgrace"? i mean, to smack a democrat for being liberal, that seems awfully hateful to me. and to just smack them. now if only i could remember where i heard that quote... hmmm, now where was it...
-
so, does anyone think male pattern baldness is sexy or am i just screwed?

raphael (sp) was always my favorite. except for a short period in my life where i was misguided and decided mikey was my favorite (i call those "the lost years" ), though it quickly changed back. if you ever look at the art from the original turtles, he was by far the coolest. when i was really little, my parents bought me a TMNT calendar with the comic art on it, not the cartoon on it, not knowing how gorey it was. and he was really fierce and even though they were just little cartoon art sketches, they were incredible and there's this one image of raf where he's leaping at an enemy with his sais out and that image has stuck with me ever since. the true essence of speed and power, lol. i dunno, it all seems kinda dorky now. i partly got in the the martial arts over the ninja turtles.

i like that, that's nice, oh honorable martial artist. "don't buy your games, illegally pirate them instead". as unbelievable as the final fantasy series is, it's a real pain to find them on the PC. shogun:total war and the commandos series are excellent (strategy), commandos especially if you're into the stealth thing. the first rainbow 6 was the best, but it's really easy. and the original tomb raider is really cool, if you don't mind the dated graphics. the sims is really fun, but i can't understand for the life of me why. i spend so much time with that game that i neglect to do the same tasks in my own life, lol! black and white is a super cool game too, but i can't play it anymore; i get to big a power rush if i ever become president or dictator or prime minister of the country that whoever is reading this is living in, for your own sake, move, right away the decent series (space flight sim) is really fun, particularly the second one... that's all that comes to mind. from a purely gaming stand point, i'd say save your money and buy a ps2, but i spose it's to late, eh? sides, i guess your stuck with a mac... no person should have to live like that

do you really want a dog to win?

need help breathing...
battousai16 replied to battousai16's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
well, i think it was just a matter of my losing focus. i went to a new school and they've had me teach a few classes there, and i was worried so much about how i looked (i'm so vain ) that i lost concentration on what i was doing, because this school is a little more of a perfectionist-ic school than my old one was. someone said that after 10 years maybe i was trying to live up to expectations set by someone or other, and i think s/he was right. i just need to practice, practice, practice! gah, i'm turing into my music teacher! -
i didn't mean to offend anyone. i forget y'all don't live in WI, and aren't "down with da lingo". when i say "crazy people" i don't mean y'all are insane, i mean the situation y'all are in is a little odd and awkward. sorry. some day, i will walk the streets of estonia and virginia alone at night and unarmed just to prove it. and maybe even russia, if i feel like it, though after virginia and estonia i might be kind of tired.
-
ok martial girl, i'm sorry. remind me never to walk the streets of russia alone at night or unarmed. crazy people! still, without the russians, you really couldn't have all of those bond movies, and those were so entertaining! but anyway. what was i saying? oh yeah. crazy people. crazy estkarateka. crazy crazy crazy.
-
geez, you people are heartless.... as martial artists, taught in the way of dignity, poise, and restraint, shouldn't we be a little kinder than this? crazy people. crazy crazy crazy. here we have death threats shooting back and forth, and talk of sexual harassment... wow. crazy crazy. remind me not to walk the streets of virgina (is that what VA is?), estonia, or whereever-it-is-you're-from-estkarteka alone at night, at least unarmed. crazy people.
