  1. where did you get your shillelagh?
  2. well, but when someone replaces him, james bond is still dead. 007 is still around, but bond is still dead.
  3. really? you learn something new every day! oh, and sano, the batman beyond guy isn't batman. i think you at least have to be bruce wayne...
  4. in all fairness, i didn't konw who tito oritz was until i came to this forum, and have no idea who carter williams is.
  5. i thought arnis and escrima were generally the same thing maybe i'm just way off. wing tsun i hear is effective, and hung gar, if you have the time
  6. but bond never had the golden gun, scaramanga did.
  7. oh my, that's a whole new thread all together. but brosnan's irish, so he's got my vote "James Bond can at least blend into his surroundings". actually, not really. though it's been inconsistent from movie to movie, it's safe to say that bond is often recognized. and even if not immediatly, the enemy usually has some way of tracking him down almost instantly. sano... did you just say no one reads anymore? ...maybe readings just a midwest thing...
  8. ah, i'm not much of a car guy. still, "London calling to the faraway towns Now that war is declared-and battle come down..." hmmm... an interesting point though, as cool as the Aston Martin DB5 (that being the definitive bond car) is, does it really top the batmobile?
  9. i've always enjoyed the bond books, though some of them are poorly written. obviously, the ian fleming ones are best. i'll check james byron out; i'm always in search of another good book and as far as music goes, lets not forget that die another day had the clash in it
  10. and, correct me if i'm wrong, but dosen't "bo" translate into "staff"?
  11. ...am i the only one who finds it ironic that a person with the handle gandhi was censored for sick content? sano, i'm a bigger batman fan too, but that dosen't mean you can just count out bond. also, bond's techniques aren't weak, connery/moore/dalton/brosnan's techniques were weak and lazenby's were mediocre at best. if you read the books, bond was made out to sound out like a martial arts god, and perfect gun accuracy, if you read "the man with the golden gun". batman has the advantage of being drawn, thus perfect. delta one, lets not forget danny elfman... a music god...
  12. i'm with drunken monkey on this except for the whole "not talking about bond, talking about the 00 tag division" thing. no, i think we're just talking about bond. bond's the best because he's bond. both bond and batman have a special place on my list, i've loved them since i was a wee one. the movie you're reffering to, sano, is live and let die. what you're neglecting is bond's experience in the martial arts. it says in... i think on her majesty's secret service... that he has a black belt in judo and did boxing, i think it was. not to mention his experience from you only live twice, and lets not forget his sword play in die another day, as stupid, awkward, and misplaced as it was. very unnecissary. but anyway. also bare in mind that Ian Flemings bond is so much different from MGM/EON's bond.
  13. monkeygirl, how do you beat the man who carries shark repellent around? when you think about it, most of the coolest gadgets in Q's lab, bond dosen't actually get to use. darn shame kchenault, yes he was exhausted, which was what i was getting at. he's not invulnerable. and yes bane got what was coming to him, but you seem to have conveniantly left out that it wasn't bruce wayne as batman who took him out, it was jean-paul vally. a frenchman. but that brings up another point, batman's track record is MUCH more impressive than bonds. i'm still gonna vote batman, but bond wouldn't be a pushover.
  14. hmmm...a tough one, though drunken monkey is essentially correct. at any rate, you act as though batman has never screwed up. remember, he had his spine shattered by bane and only healed by some psychic magic person. and bond became a "ninja" in "you only live twice", so it's not like he's a slouch in the fighting department, even if he hasn't necissarilly shown it in the later movies. still, i think batman would have more will power and better connections.
  15. hence why "sould out" was in quotes. though i don't really follow WW...E, now? huh, i thought it was F must have missed that one. again, i don't follow, i've never been able to stand the thing. anywho... mortal kombat... yeah!
  16. and, just a guess, but something tells me he's not on call to beat up your friends.
  17. and regardless of whether or not he "sold out", he's still the posterboy for WWF.
  18. all that said, spins aren't a complete waste of time; they help with control over the staff and get you a bit more comfortable in the beginning. though i've never bothered to learn that helicoptor spin thing, i can't see that as anything other than flat out worthless.
  19. i think that's subjective. my definition of martial arts and sports may be different from the next guys, and i don't think you can just generalize it like that.
  20. "what we do is pure showmanship, with things being predetermined. it surprises people who don't get it. the media just can't seem to get over the hump of asking 'is it real or is it fake?' i mean, c'mon, everybody knows it's just theatrics. just sit back, relax, and enjoy our action/adventure soap opera" -the rock, august of 1999. i think that's a resounding "aye".
  21. are people attacked with swords and bolos that often?
  22. ...but i think the point of a forum IS to get people started on the subject... and something tells me you wouldn't have brought it up if you weren't interested...
  23. the books are enjoyable, i recommend them to all who haven't read them. though not the best around, they're still a good read. and Tolkien has several books floating around; and they're not all LOTR related.
