  1. wait, one of the first movies where he [/i]dosen't use fancy matrix stuff? like when he killed the guy with a billiard ball?
  2. also, make sure they're trust worthy friends, for the purposes of liability and such.
  3. you know, i think your whole "if they got the chance to train to win prior to the fight" philosophy is true of anyone.
  4. yep, just looked through it again to be sure. his book, the tao of jeet kun do is about fighting, not fitness. unless, of course, we're talking about a DIFFERENT bruce lee, in which case i apologize.
  5. i can only imagine that it depends on where your priorities lye. if you like to conserve energy, drunken boxing probably isn't your game.
  6. well, i assume we're talking about THE bruce lee... as i've said before, i'm just a casual fan, but...
  7. ...i'm sorry, but i don't follow. did you just say bruce lee DIDN'T focus on fighting?
  8. "drunken doesn't actually use booze... It stems from one of the stories of how the system began. There was a monk who was kicked out of the monestary. He got drunk, and in his drunken rage, he returned to the monestary and took out like 30 people. The next morning, he recalled what he had done and the techniques he had used in his drunken stupor. These techniques became the foundation of drunken boxing." seems to me that if he was drunk enough to take out 30 people, he shouldn't have been able to remember the evening i've heard stuff about 7 drunken immortals, but i really don't know. seems more plausable that someone was watching someone else fight drunk than doing it themselves. i dunno, i've never learned it.
  9. "does anyone here possibly know what the laws are for virginia in regards to someone breaking into your house and possibly endangering your family?" i can only assume that it's illegal.
  10. it was a lot different from the first one, though i still enjoyed it. i suppose the following is a bit of a SPOILER, so read with caution, i guess. why was hanzo so pissed at bill? was that cut, or did i just miss something? also, that escape from the grave didn't make a lick of sense to me.
  11. "or if you prefer, extended family. you might be a member of a particular hung gar school but you'd also part of a larger hung gar clan. get it?" got it. thanks for the info
  12. "some of you might remember my little encounter with some 'pesky kids' whilst i had my 'three' on my back...." heh heh, a good story, i must say...
  13. actually, rarely have i heard "clan" used in asian culture; i always figured that was more of a celtic thing. clan generally means "family" (go lannigans!). thus, i assume in CMA it refers to the hung family, the choy family, etc.
  14. i hardly think being a ballet dancer counts you out from being a good martial artist, though, i don't like him. he's never impressed me and i hear he's a major schmuck. anywho, i couldn't make this list without some heavy duty research. is the transporter worth seeing? i guess i'll have to rent it... anywho, i've heard wonderful things about jackie chan, and it's interesting to note that most everyone has at least one of his movies on their movie must have lists, so he's be fairly high up on my list.
  15. hey now, that's a little harsh. he has the right to his opinion, just as you do. it's not even as though he's the only one; if you went over to the japanese stylists i'm sure you'd find more who shared his view. it's just that, lets face it, the korean styles have indeed been bastardized and now you have people unning around with neon light up american flag uniforms or whatever. i see his point, just not to the extreme.
  16. i think so, most of us don't have access to your tiger hook swords
  17. i welcome it but with all due respect to TKD, i've never been as impressed with a WTF guy as i've been with mr. wallace. but we digress.
  18. uh, correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't bill wallace clocked at kicking 60 mph? that's fairly impressive if you ask me, even if he can only do it with the one leg. i've never seen anyone else do that. i was never a die hard fan of him, but he certainly has my respect.
  19. "i like to listen to rap that talks about the struggle or "the grind". " "they talk about social injustice and many other political issues. early rap is education! " you know, i've heard all the groups you threw out and still didn't care for them. you want to hear about "struggles", "social injustice" and "other political issues"? why not punk? why not Dropkick Murphys, Propagandhi, The Clash, etc. they haven't corrupted themselves with topics of money and pop culture drivel, and they hit far more political/social issues than any rap group i ever heard. and they have musical talent to boot, not just a beat box in the corner. i don't know much about many rap groups, but i have much more respect for groups that give profits to charity to help out what there singing about (i think it was NOFX who organized a full conert and album to protest the bush administration) than the group that blows their profit on booze, mansions and hookers.
  20. oh, i see. sorry delta 1, i just read that "it's chinese, but it's..." comment and got a little curiouse is all. my mistake
  21. drunken master's gotta' be my favorite, though. heh heh, makes me laugh every time
  22. actually, i have seen fist of legend. a long time ago. that's the one where he fights his girl friends japanese father and they decide that styles are equal and it's the fighter who matters, right? i forgot about that one, it's been a long time
  23. i haven't really seen any of his HK movies, aside from the once upon a time in china series. kung fu movies are hard to find in WI
  24. i agree, his american movies tend to suck (romeo must die!?! blech!), though i'll admit to being entertained by kiss of the dragon. only the first time through, though. i haven't been able to watch it again.
