i drive a red geo prism. it's really awful. i guess it gets good mileage, and it runs alright, but it's an awful car and it always smells funny. that, and my sister has it half the time. however, if i could, i'd have bond's car from goldfinger. y'know, not just any aston marton DB5, but with a passenger ejector seat and machine guns and revolving license plates. the whole shebang.

Favourite MA video game
battousai16 replied to Zorba's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
i'm a tekken fan as far as fighting games go. though as far as martial arts games in general, i dig the tenchu series. -
yeah, you gotta dig the planets symphony. mars has gotta' be the catchiest song ever. that or the gandalf movement in johan de meij's lord of the rings symphony. man, i hear that song once and it's in my head for weeks...

Good choice for a first time weapons weilder?
battousai16 replied to krunchyfrogg's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
gonna' have to say the bo on this one. though don't discount the sword just cuz you wont have one handy; the techniques are easily applied on a baseball bat, shorter sticks, lengths of pipe... you know, whatever. -
best was electric 6 in madison not to long ago. there was a lot of energy and they had really good showmanship; they were really funny (in a geeky sort of way) and you could tell they were having a lot of fun. if you ever get the chance to see 'em play, i highly recomend it. i saw incubus a year or so ago too an they were really good, but it kinda' seemed like they didn't wanna' be there the worst was this band i saw called wet set. they were absolutely terrible. most of them could barely play there instruments. that was the only time i've ever walked out on a concert.

awww, that's so cute! i have to little fans, my next door neighbors, ones 3 and ones 5. they see me training in the back yard every now and then and one of them said i was the best in the world. they couldn't figure out why i started laughing, but it was still really cute

Capoeri or what ever its called
battousai16 replied to TheDevlin's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
you know, i doubt anyone's gonna' make you jump 6 feet in the air, do 4 back flips and land in the sidesplits or whatever on the first day. if capoeira's what you wanna' do, go for it. if you need to work on flexiblitiy, capoeria will help that. -
patrick- first of all, i'm not blaming jk rowling for anything; she's just writing books. it's what she does. i'm accusing my little sister and others like her for actively refusing to expand their horizons.

once again i'm with drunken monkey, if for no other reason than it defends my time with video games it would be one thing if harry potter was acting as a bridge to other books, but it's really not. using my sister again (i really hope she dosen't mind), she dosen't even read the books required for school. whenever she's assigned a book report, she goes straight for harry potter. yeah, she's reading, but she's missing out on vonnegut, orwell, salinger, twain. to kill a mockingbird, farenheit 451, all quiet on the western front, things fall apart. and to hit on what DM alluded to, her vocabs not increasing, her grammer blows, and her spelling is worse than mine. granted, she is learning spanish, but just to read a book she knows by heart anyway. how long until she decides it's to hard, and her only motivation is to read a book she's already read? i don't strongly hate the books as much as DM, but i certainly don't think they're a god send.

we do that in cross country, only, if we go bare foot we stay on the foot ball fields, just so we don't slice our feet on rocks and sprinklers and such, which never helps in a race it does something with your ankles or something. we don't do this until after the work out, so i'm always pretty tired by the time coach is explaining this, and i'm not really paying attention keep it somewhere you know you wont get hurt, though.

well, as a librarian, i fully agree with drunken monkey. to many kids "just want to read harry potter", and nothing but. my little sister does that quite a bit; in fact, when word of the 4th book spread around, she re-read the first 3 to prep up for it. same with 5. she wants an early start on 6th. she wants to learn spanish now because our aunt bought her a copy in spanish (for some reason i can't even begin to fathom). she reads nothing else. and i've found that that's not exactly a rare thing, it happens all the time. usually, though, you can get a quick fix by recomending a lemony snicket book; they're better written, short, and increase the vocabulary of the little ones. heck, they increased mine too. and harry potter fans will read them. than it's just a matter of time before you can warp them with vonnegut and orwell... hehe, i love being a librarian...

wow wolfie, i gotta' say, i'm a little hurt that just because i'm an american, i'm apparently completely ignorant to world geography...

hmmm... perhaps the idea is that you'd be so revolted by there appearance it would distract you in sparring?

and with all that said, i've come to notice that in korean styles, at a certain point, the opening chambers of all of your kicks start to look like the chamber for a front kick, thus masking the kick you're about to execute. i suppose knowing that a kick was coming to your head in advance would do you pretty well, but i'm pretty sure mr. wallace wasn't just limited to kicking in one spot. and, without knowing who herb perez is, i think you're underestimating a kick coming at 60mph. i may be overusing this little bill wallace fact here, but that's really freaking fast.
-
nah, i gotcha

first of all, what library is open at 2am? they close at about 9 over here, and that's when they're open late! second, who says men aren't raped or abused? it happens fairly frequently actually, and in some cases it ends up being worse because of a) the shame that comes with gender roles and b) the lack of support groups and attention said matters get. hell, i only know of the instances because my mother's a social worker and my father's the police commisioner. it's like the abused citizens in iraq: remember, it was men and women of all types abusing the iraqis, just as it was men and women being abused.

well, my big weakness comes from not knowing who herb perez is . baseballs come in a straightline and are always aimed at a little square box. though, i'm no baseball espert, either. 60mph is considerably faster than 40-50; me thinks he'd be hit in the head by the time he lifted his leg. i mean no disrespect to WTF TKD people, it's just that i've never seen anything from them that's made go "holy #@!~!". anyone of the pro guys could beat the stuffing outta' me... i forget where i was going with that; just draw your own conclusion.
-
sorry. it's not WI, actually, it's just me . and i say "howdy" too.
-
actually, i think he has 3. and i can only imagine it would be pretty tough to avoid a kick coming at 60mph, whether you see it coming or not.

...i know y'all speak english... ...still, always good to give someone a good laugh

i think the bottom line is good idea- have some fun, learn a lot-but be responsible. remember: don't do anything stupid.
-
to who? bill wallace? i'm by no means a kicking expert, nor am i a bill wallace expert, but i don't think anybody other than him have been clocked at kicking 60mph. that's wicked fast; i wouldn't want to be hit with that.
