  1. I agree rip bruce lee he did impact martial arts.
  2. I have never been knocked out but i have been hit in the jaw when my mouth was open and i wish it did knock me out because it hurt.
  3. They were all great but tyson came from the streets and beat up old ladies.
  4. I would like to see tyson in a rear choke and him fall asleep
  5. They are not brothers by blood but thay were both adopted by bob shamrock.
  6. mark coleman was stopped with leg kicks there we hudge black and blue marks on them and he looks like a body builder.
  7. IF a mans sole purpose is to bite off your ear no matter what happens to him you will be walking away with one less ear even if hes dead. That is joe thug
  8. I do not think that he would compete because he did not like rules.
  9. Karate and TKD have some of the same Katas
  10. I bet Gene Labell would have beat any bjj when he was in his fighting days. I do not think that there are facts that bjj is the best on the ground. And what if you were a bjj and came across 3 brutes like kimo ( ufc 3 ) I think you better run I would.
  11. Find me a factual statement with the data to back up that 99% of bjj beat karate that are not ufc related? There are a lot of people in the world so the list should be long, but what about the great martial artist who do not believe in competition and beliefe karate is a way of life not something to brag about and who only fight when faced with serious threat not a drunk guy in a bar.
  12. Where did TJS get the 99% of the time was it from watching every single fight in the world? added them up and calculated the %? I agree that in the ring a bjj may dominate if you have no groung experiance but it a bar if bjj walks up and wants to fight ill put my hands up and say no then step back, if he steps foreward then he cant see, he cant breath and he cant walk. I do not square up to people and fight, I do it only for self defense.
  13. It all comes down to the person and his abilities in a sport match. There are great masters of ma that do not fight in a compitition. Just because some karate people lost does not mean bjj is better. On the street it is a different matter, whatever works and bjj is good as well as karate. Personally I would not want to be on the ground when there are a lot of people around and weapons. I do know some really good throws that would work in a street self defense situation but not in the ring. But sill as for going into a mma event I would train, train, train. For the street I just want to get out of a hold or prevent one from happening then use karate self defense.
  14. I am saying the average karate guy can use self defense on the street but he or she is not conditioned for the sport of the ufc unless they train for it. I am talking about a mugging or a carjacking or something to that effect where the perp thinks of you as a target. When a person has challenged my sensi in the dojo he will tell them that everyone will leave and the doors will be locked, no one to witness it and no refs. They will always back down.
  15. If you have an opening for a high kick I would do one but a lot of people fail because they kick when the other guys guard is up so u must fake low or do something so that you can have a clear shot. I have seen people knocked out by one kick.
  16. I bleieve that when two people are locked in the cage like in ufc both parties are expecting to fight and are ready for it, but this is not what karate is about. If a thug grabs your arm on the street he has no clue as to what you are going to do to him and bam , Karate does work.
  17. I liked best of the best but the sequel was sorry. What about karate kis and its sequels?
  18. orange blet shotokan, yellow belt kenpo, white belt bjj. and a black leather belt to hold my pants up.
  19. If you are choked out that means you go to sleep. Ken did not go to sleep if you read his book or saw the fight. The fighters may have been something at one time but I thought Kevin Rosier was going to have a heart attack.
  20. UFC 1 was a bunch of misfits except for maybe ken shamrock. Art jimmerson had a boxing glove strapped to his lead hand and tapped out as soon an gracie mounted him. ken shamrock was not choked out he tapped when he felt gracies arm go around his neck. Gerard Gordeau had a swollen broken hand for his fight with gracie. I still do not understand why these people like to punch to the back of the head and bust their hands all up.
  21. It might work to rake your knuckles across the back of his hand anf use your other hand to aid by applying pressure. It also depnds on the size of the opponent, I had this big guy lift me off the groung but he was easily caught with a back kick to the groin.
  22. Sounds like a lot of stuff to do in a 30 second street fight
  23. That is how we weed out people who we do not want in there and aslo only the really die hards will continue.
