  2. move fast and use your angles. jump to the side. block your head well too!
  3. no. i have never worn our belt. in the handbook i'm pretty sure it said something about it being disrespectful or something. mine hasn't smelled very bad either.
  4. defiantely from the hip. my foot that is still on the ground turns all the way around as well. and the knee can't drop.
  5. i agree with karatekid about not fraying the belt and fading it. i think it is stupid to do it on purpose.

  7. I am going to the tkd nationals in june. and i was wondering if any other competitors from this site are going to be there.
  8. yesterday was my aau tournament. i did well. i got 2nd in forms and second in sparring. i got beat both times by a brown belt. that is't too fair me being only a oarnge belt but i only lost in sparring by 1 point. 7-8. it was fun ad everything. and now i'm on my way to nationals!
  9. tkd- my instructor is a third dan. she is awesome. i seriously don't think i could have a much better one. she is relaxed but pushes the limits. she is so fun too! me and a few other people go and chill at her house after promotion classes or whatever. it is totally cool.
  10. RAP! it pumps be up before sparring. i also like hip-hop, country, and some of the classic oldies (downtown, joy to the world...) it's all good.

TKD works for me but you might want something else. tkd is 80% kicking so if you want that. it isn't going to help you too much in a real fight b/c kicking them in the head might not be an option. it is very fun for me but that might be due to the instructor and the people that i take class with. good luck with everything.
  14. you can get a punching bad cheaper at like at dicks sporting goods or something. i have a hanging and a free standing and i got both of them there. also try something like play it again sports..

  16. it depends on what kind of martial art that you are in. in tae kwon do, we don't meditate or anything so i dunna.i guess it is mental because you have yourself through the forms inside your head? i dunna!

  20. shouldn't a slap roundhouse be hitting the target with the instep anyways? oh-yeah, i have a problem with them too, only i can't get my chamber right and my next break is with a roundhouse. any advice?
  21. there are some pretty big guys at my td school. i think you can do it and it will help you out alot. it will most likely be hard at first, what isn't?, but it will get easier and the lbs should shed soon. it might be more of a challenge than a mad that weighs 125, but just keep pushing yourself!
  22. i do it for fun and also the people are awesome! i love it and it keeps me in shape for soccer season. it also made me a much better person.
