Sansooser If Lennox didn't chase him there would be a fight at all. Takamatsu fought giant from China back in the day he was told to have been extremely powerful. He was said to be able to lift 200 lbs with each hand and was a Master Chinese Boxer. Takamatsu tired he out and was ready to destroy him, and someone begged Takamatsu to stop. They saw that Takamatsu would have killed him, Takamatsu spaired him and they became good friends. You have to think Takamatsu killed people, he knew how to kill. Lennox is a boxer and has never killed anyone to my knowledge. Have you seen when Boxers get in the clinch. They slip one hit and clinch. I know what to do in the clinch, do you?

Submission Fighter said: Well hopefully your opponent ends up on the ground. Just be aware that grapplers want to take you down, so knowing what to do if it ends up there is important. I only had one fight were I was taken down. I turned it around on him after getting hit a few times in the face. They were surface hits nothing that stunned me. I say be ready and prepare for anything, always. If you want to end a fight quickly and you don't want to stand there and trade punches with them, strike, takedown, stomp. Quick and dirty is the way.

I'll hit him square in the jaw while he's flapping his gums. I have to assume the guy is serious, too risky not to.

Top 10 Self Defense Martial Arts
Treebranch replied to aznkarateboi's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Yeah I don't think it's fair to judge a whole system of fighting on a few idiots that can't fight. It's funny when Gracie was beating everyone it was his BJJ, but when other people won it was the fighter. What about those American Wrestlers who were doing really well in UFC, why isn't everyone going out and taking up American Wrestling, it seemed to work just fine. Once some Karate guy goes in there and kills than everyone is gonna go study Karate. When a Kung Fu guy wins, then everyone will go study that. It's just a matter of time some monster in some other style is going win one of those fights. -
I think I know what your asking. Let say Lennox against Takamatsu. Takamatsu was a very small guy, but viscious and had killed people with his hands. Lennox is huge and strong and can punch someone's head off. Takamatsu in his prime in a match out in the open would have just used his agility to stay away until Lennox got tired of chasing him. Then when Lennox was good and tired Takamatsu would strike retreat, strike retreat over and over until he could see Lennox begin to crumble. Then Takamatsu with sick finger nails would probably take his vision and then kill him. This guy was an animal and feared by many people who you would think wouldn't be. A pretty famous Karate Master called Takamatsu an outdated has been. Takamatsu took this as a challenge and went on national television telling the Karate Master to retract his statement within 3 days or Takamatsu would have to kill him. The Karate Master retracted his statement and sent Takamatsu a letter of apology. Mean guy.

Also grappling arts are basically more realistic for fighting. Almost every fight ends up in some sort of clinch or on the ground. I like stepping back and striking their forearm or back of their hand with my knuckles. It hurts like hell, but only for a little while.

What are projectile punches?

I don't know but I would hope so. San-shin is so important, it shows up everywhere in our techniques. I'll ask my teacher to see if he knows. -
What are projectile punches?

Well the only thing I can think of why they would say projectile punches, is because when you throw a Shuriken the action is like throwing a punch using San-Shin. -
They weren't just assassins, many of them were ronin. Stealth is part of Ninjutsu, but it's not the focus of it. They were pretty fierce fighters, but since many of them were spies they did have to be sneeky. From what I have read they were warriors first then became Ninja, so they had Budo training prior to their Ninjutsu training.

Reality Training by Justin Grey
Treebranch replied to ChangWuJi's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Yeah, I don't think being so preoccupied with getting into a street fight is a good thing. Training should be enjoyable and should give you a sense of release so that you won't go beating people up on the street. I could understand if we all were back in the days when people were attacked by bandits at every turn to train that way. We leave in a pretty civilized society today comparatively speaking of course. I'm more worried about someone shooting me than I am in getting into a street fight. Most people are wussies and only talk a big game, but when it comes down to it they don't really want to fight. They just want to intimidate you. -
Devastating throws
Treebranch replied to DokterVet's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Sorry I meant no offense. The next time you get thrown by someone that bends their back, go with it and keep holding on to them. What happens is you will pull them down with you. If you keep your back straight and use good kamae this is less likely to happen. For your info Judo has changed alot since it was taken from Jujitsu. I have a friend from Hawaii that was trained by his father who was trained by a WWII Japanese Judo champ, before the real Judo was banned. That old Judo was brutal and was not a sport yet. That Judo came from Jujitsu. What you see now is not that Judo. So no need for the WTF? Cause you almost really PMO. -

If you want to train for the street go to a bar and pick a fight with some crazy biker. That's how you train for the street. -
I've never seen K-1 but I love Pride fights much better than UFC.

Devastating throws
Treebranch replied to DokterVet's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Karate is very linear and you keep your back straight in your kamae. I would not suggest any MA that has you bend over to throw someone. Take Jujitsu or Budo Taijutsu for some viscious throws. -
The thing to understand is that certain Ninjutsu Schools were lost to disuse or banned and faded away. There are only 3 left in practice. Although the Ninja always incorporated Budo arts into their own fighting methods and permeated them with Ninjutsu, so that they worked together.

I think there are people born with the natural ability to fight. Just like there are people who are born with the innate talent to draw or paint. People are born with certain talents that sometimes are never found. It does take a certain kind of person to be a fighter. Some people just love to fight.

ShotokanKen are you 5 feet tall. The Bo staff should be taller than you, at least 6 inches taller than you. Is the graphite Bo light or heavy, I've never seen one. I prefer hard wood Bo staffs like Oak, Hickory, Walnut, heavy and strong as hell.

Boxing

Thank you Kirves for expressing your very educated opinion. Would you say that fighting in general no matter what the style may be can be used for self defense? Therefore it is a MA? Or only fighting arts that originated as Combat MA's? -
Read his training method on the second link I left. He was rugged enough. If you know what your doing you don't need to be ruggid or big and strong to defeat someone. Don't fight their fight, fight yours. That is the key.

So what if Tyson prepares and learns some grappling, say BJJ. What then?

I think he was great, but I don't know if his training methods are for everyone. How do you think someone like Takamatsu Sensei ranks amongst men like Mas Oyama? http://members.tripod.com/bamatatsumaki/tanemura/takamatsu.html Here's another good link on him http://www.angelfire.com/ga3/bujinkan/moko2.html

So is Aikido a Martial Art? Judo? Muay Thai, in it's modern form? This is addressed mostly to Kirves, but if you have an opinion by all means express it.
