BJJ and Multiple Opponents
Treebranch replied to ValeTudo's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Well fact of the matter is that BJJ is not designed for multiple opponent fighting. -
World Record board breaker!

That's silly! -
Well that's exactly my point. A Kickboxer's career is short lived.

Fan Dancing

I prefer a good Mexican Hat Dance or a nice Scottish Soft Shoe myself. -
Carry a small lock blade in your back pocket it comes in handy for more than just protecting yourself with it.

I keep a good distance and wait for their attack, then I take their balance.

Ninjutsu vs. Jujutsu
Treebranch replied to BlackRose's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
The 3 Ninjutsu schools of Budo Taijutsu do teach leaping, climbing trees with the aid of hand claws, running up trees, or up hill and what not. They teach rolling which is a big part of Budo Taijutsu which include dive rolls and such. I rather enjoy the rolls and leaps and they do play part in defending and evading. Also leaps and rolls kind of go hand in hand and are taught for purposes of escaping a dangerous situation, etc.. Ninjas had to be pretty agile, especially the ones that were spies and assassins. They were stealthy and agile in order to be able to escape or flee without being noticed, just like a modern day Navy Seal or Special Forces types. It really depends on the school and what it's focus is. -
I think it's great if you can pull it off, but I'd be more concerned with my own breathing. Having proper breathing helps and it is important, but for the most part the power comes from your structure and movement. The Sanchin is more than just breathing.

Villari infomercial " who needs an instructor"

A better supplement than a book, but a supplement nevertheless. -
No, I would advise everyone to keep up their strength and flexibility as long as they possibly can, but in the end you can always fall back on your knowledge. The moral is don't rely on your strength all the time because there will always be someone bigger and stronger than you and your tactics and know how will save you.

I was at that fight and I can't really say who would have won, but Klitchko was doing really well up until Lennox gave him that mean gash. I don't think people realize how bad that cut was if you weren't there to see it. I think it was smart to stop the fight when they did. If they had continued and Lennox kept hitting him there I think it would have been a great disadvantage for Klitchko. I couldn't tell if Lennox was really being hurt be Klitchko or if he was just playing possim. The interesting thing is that Lennox didn't have a scratch on him, Klitchko had that mean gash over his eye and a smaller cut on his cheek bone. So basically Lennox was doing more physical damage with his punches so it's really hard to say who would have won.

Villari infomercial " who needs an instructor"
Treebranch replied to kempocos's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Depends on the system of fighting we are talking about. Some MA's are very straight forward and some are very intricate. The one's that are more intricate have to be studied with the aid of an instructor. -
Interesting, another Cop story..
Treebranch replied to SoulAssassin's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Cops will shoot anyone that resist it seems. I wish cops were required to study more unarmed and jo or bo training so that when a gun is not present they can take someone down without shooting them. Most police policies on shooting is to shoot to kill, not to maim. I don't know the logic behind this, but alot of innocent people die at the hands of these policies. I think it's very sad and the public has a general fear of the Police. -
Yeah, I was treated differently because of my previous experience with Mexican Judo. Judo know if I have a gun or Judo know if I have a knife.

I like to use the Hiemlich manuever. Did I spell that right? Oh well. -
Did anyone see this movie, it was pretty fricken good. What did you guys think. I especially like the fight scene in the jungle with the Brazilian rebels. That little dude is an incredible MA. He was the little kid in Ninja Turtles.

underworld
Treebranch replied to IAMA_chick's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
I'm pretty critical about movies in general, but I had a good time watching Underworld. It had really clever fights and gun fights. It looked really cool. Go see it, it's worth the $8. -
Kill Bill

My buddy is a film director and he already saw it and he loved it. He said it's awesome and really intense. I myself can't wait to see it. -
Just look up Airsoft Guns on Google, I'm sure you can find oline stores. Ebay has some as well. Make sure you get the Japanese ones, I don't recommend the Chinese ones.

Have you tried Judo or Jujutsu? It seems like you'd be good at it.

Your tactics will always improve in time, but in time your strength may fade.
