  1. If the guy is big and can handle himself good luck trying a double or single leg takedown. Your sacrificing alot when you do that type of takedown if the guy is big and powerful and knows what he's doing. Try it on a big guy who's your friend first to see if you can pull it off.
  2. Yeah, that's cute.
  3. Smile at them to let them know, "Yeah, she's hot huh." They usually will smile back. The safer thing to do is ignore the ignorant, because some people are so jealous that they want to be provoked. They want to kick the guys * who has the girl they wish they had. I've had that happen to me in the past. It can be trying so I sympathize with you. Why'd you move to Texas? Come to California where there are so many hot chicks yours will get lost among them.
  4. Multiple ground fighting? You're being silly.
  5. Kung Fu Sansoo is very straight forward and brutal. I highly recommend it if learning something very effective in a relatively short time.
  6. Are you talking about sparring or fighting? In sparring why not give a little distraction kick. In a real situation move to the outside of your attackers leading leg and stomp the knee straight in hyperextending break. You have to stomp it and follow through so that the attacker is now on the ground. Don't just snap kick it, that will just give him time to recover for the next attack.
  7. Ti the double leg takedown can be easily countered if you react to attacks in an intelligent way. I don't know what Grasshopper kung fu is, but I would think most viable arts have counters to double leg take downs, such as sprawling and such.
  8. Ninjas did not dress in black like people think. They usually dressed in browns, greys, reds, colors that are roughly the same tone as grass or leaves at night. Black looks like an ink blot at night and can be seen as a silhouette.
  9. This is in response to the original post. I think you need to not invite people to fight you by bragging or letting your friends brag about you. Keep your skills to yourself. There are people out there that will want to fight you if they think it will bring them some recognition and maybe they won't be fair about it. I think your adrenaline rush comes from not really wanting to fight with these people. I would keep what you know away from strangers. If your attacker knows what you can do it is a disadvantage to you. Maybe your nervous because these people who want to fight you and aren't afraid of you even though you've been hyped by your friends. So maybe you would be less likely to get an adrenaline rush if you felt you have the upper hand. If you are training right your margin of error should be minimal in a real situation, and believe me there will be a margin of error. I hope this helps and I don't mean this in a negative way.
  10. Reklats thinks: Yeah, but you can throw some mean stomp kicks to the knee if you still have your balance. Always take the path of least resistance, it's just the smart thing to do. If you have your balance you have your strength, if you are off balance you are fighting to stay up. You can't do much when you are off balance, so make sure you make the clinch mean something by taking your opponents balance. I guarantee who ever you are fighting will be much easier to handle while they're trying to catch themselves from falling.
  11. If you only rely on strength, there will always be someone stronger. Strength fades with age and can be used against you by someone with good tactics.
  12. Look online for Paul Chen's Practical Katana. It's about $125.00 for that sword, but it's alot better than the swords you're looking at, I guarantee it.
  13. If you are really going to study the sword with a legit dojo they will tell you where you can get one that is well made. It will cost you quite a bit. A hand folded blade with traditional fitting that can with stand rigorous cutting exercises are expensive. Go to this site and look at the prices. These are some of the most beautifully made swords I've seen so far. http://www.bugei.com/
  14. Yes, but with proper technique comes power. Not the other way around. Tactics are more related to how you handle a fight in order to have all things in your favor. Speed and power isn't everything, moving at the right time is more important than moving fast.
  15. Don't go expecting any Oscar nominations, but it was fun and disturbing. I loved it.
  16. I would have to study all the Kung Fu's out there to make my opinion, and even then it would still be an opinion.
  17. I agree for NHB type competition wrestling is a good base to start from. But I don't think you can call it the best MA. Different MA's work better in different situations, they all have merit.
  18. That's not entirely true Kyle-san. Some very good schools teach that stuff if you are interested in it.
  19. Make sure the clinch causes the unbalancing and then take them down. Otherwise it's just a wrestling match.
  20. Take their balance. I can't believe that the most obvious way of defeating someone is never discussed here. If you take their balance and know how to manipulate their structure, you got them. Moving to the right place is the key to off balancing them and being in the prime position.
  21. Are there people who know what the Ninjas knew? Yes. Are there people out there assasinating people Ninja Style? I don't know. I think there are more efficient ways of killing than using Ninjutsu methods from the past. Can Ninjutsu help make a very deadly modern day assassin? Definitely. I don't think there are Ninjas assassinating people, but we do know there are assassins. If you are interested in learning Ninjutsu go to this site and read about the MA's they studied. http://www.bujinkan.com/ I hope this helps.
  22. Yeah, stay away form Ashida Kim and Frank Dux they are not Ninjutsu practitioners. They simply jumped on the Ninja bandwagon.
  23. So maybe Navy Seals should study Ninjutsu, but the Israeli Special Forces are known to be the best in the world.
  24. Look for the Stephan Hayes books, I really don't know anything about the other books out there.
