  1. Any kind of attack is an attack. Don't underestimate a push. Usually it's a set up for something else so don't be there.
  2. If you keep being tactful and develop some good strength, but not rely on strength you will be awesome. Good luck with you're training.
  3. Very well said 1ONefighting.
  4. I'm not a good runner. So I'd better know something for a situation like that. I hope it never happens. The thing is in that situation you're dead already, you might as well take a few with you.
  5. Very good Yamamotosan! You are a thinker.
  6. I don't claim to be a MMA's, but in reality Budo Taijutsu is a MMA. It has everything in it and much more. It's composed of 9 schools of fighting, ranging from weapons, grappling, striking, and lots of other really cool stuff. My school trains however you want to train, makes no difference to them.
  7. I'm not saying it's not effective, but if you have to defend against more than one person you'd better have some crazy endurance. Other MA's teach you how to be effective with using so much energy. That's what I mean by practical.
  8. It becomes a style when the individual opens a school and starts teaching his style of MMA. It can't be helped the student will have some similarities in the teachers style. I hate that word style, system is so much better. So by that logic if you study a system of fighting that includes striking, grappling, groundfighting, etc, and the training is some full contact with heavy bag work and sparring and such. Then someone will consider that MMA's? Interesting.
  9. Sounds like they are throwing you guys in to fight too early. If you haven't learned the basic ways of moving then naturally you will move the way you've been influenced to. You have to trust what you're learning works and you will make alot of mistakes, but keep it up it will pay off. Or maybe you're teacher should smack you guys around when you start bouncing around like a boxer. If you want to learn boxing go to a boxing gym. It has nothing to do with practical fighting like some people think. There is nothing practical about boxing. You expend way to much energy bouncing around and throwing punches. That's why boxing is a sport and boxers are trained athletes with incredible stamina. A practical MA uses the least amount of energy and time to get the job done.
  10. Sometimes if the guy is too big, make him fight himself. If you know the meaning of that than you are definitely a tactics person.
  11. That's really cool Bdaze. Look at technique with the Manriki Gusari or the Gusari Fundo a chained weapon. There are alot of really good techniques that can be done with a belt, a rope, a towel and bandana. I always like to hear when different systems of fighting have overlapping techniques that show up. Even a tie can work with this stuff. Good stuff.
  12. It's a well rounded fighting competition with extremely well conditioned and highly trained fighters, with great sportsmanship.
  13. Taijutsu is all about cheating. It's a very manipulative MA.
  14. Thanks, those are good points guys. I agree completely. I think tactics are often overlooked in many MA. Using someone rage against them or forcing someone to commit to an attack by drawing them in are tactics that I only recently started learning. It's so logical that I felt stupid when my teacher started pointing stuff out to me.
  15. I'll pass through the guard with my knife.
  16. You'll have to wait awhile until I can get you that information. Even when I get it I don't think you'll accept it anyway, but never the less I'll get it to you.
  17. Goshiman it really depends on the school, but for the most part I'll agree since I don't know much about Krav Maga. Budo Taijutsu goes into many of the same things Krav Maga goes into, at least my school does.
  18. Everything has it's place and time. Someone throwing bricks at you, it's time to evade. Don't be there.
  19. Very well put King of Fighters.
  20. Try wrestling two or three people at once, good luck.
  21. Some MA's teach you how to evade and protect yourself against weapons, whether it be a knife or someone throwing a brick at you. Other MA's just teach you how to fight one person, hand to hand. Also if your MA doesn't cover how to deal with someone swinging like a madman then it's probably not based in realism whatsoever, sorry. In a streetfight you have to be careful and not to eager to just start fighting, the person could be hiding a weapon and ready to use it. Usually if someone is a little to eager to fight I try to diffuse it by talking to him and asking him his name. Usually people will dehumanize you in order to justify why it's O.K. to start a fight with you, so when you ask their name it throw them off. MA's is supposed to teach how to be a better person as well as how to survive. People who go out to start fights are deeply insecure and constantly feel the need to prove themselves only to find that this cycle will lead to their own destruction. Smart people think before they do something stupid and stupid people do stupid things without thinking. If you want to end up dead pick fights and never walk away from a fight. Clever people live longer.
  22. Yeah, but you don't put 9mm bullet in a Desert Eagle. So basically you do what fits you.
