  1. Keeping on the original post, I study Budo Taijutsu by itself. I used to study the other MA's on my profile, but never at the same time. I think it takes time to see what each MA has to offer before mixing them. That's my opinion.
  2. This is to answer the original question of the post. Why block it? Duck it, move in or to the outside and destroy. Of course it really depends on the situation, but the we won't go into that. Kylesan if you can avoid it, never turn your back to someone. Not good.
  3. A Hojo Cord? It's rope to entangle and tie people up with. I don't know.
  4. I don't know about you guys, but doesn't KRAV MAGA sound like some giant beast that's about to burrow itself from the core of the earth or something. THE PROPHETS WERE RIGHT! THE KRAV MAGA HAS COME! Sorry. Just a liitle bored I guess.
  5. If your not careful you might get a finger or two bit off. Grab the sternoclaidomastoid muscle and use it like a handle.
  6. Some people are very easily influenced by what they see. What they see is not always what is. What is takes time and careful observation to recognize. People with no patience rarely learn.
  7. Dude, let the eye gouge thing go. MMA training methods are fine, I just wonder about the quality of what people are learning. MMA are still in a very experimental phase and has not become it's own system. It really depends on what is being mixed, certain arts don't mix well. It's good to move one way and that movement should have a certain logic to it that can be practiced enough to become second nature. If you are being taught separate arts that all have their own way of moving it can be very confusing and in a real situation it may be determental. I think the problem also is that when most people say MMA they mean UFC Style of fighting. If you are personally mixing arts you feel work well together, then great. I just don't think MMA is necessarily the best way to go. It can be very good, but that really depends on the individual. The reason I used the Kimo situation was that guy was just too powerful and in a real situation would have destroyed Royce. He in a sense did destroy him, Royce wasn't able to fight the rest of the event. I heard the excuses, I don't buy it. Don't get me wrong Royce is a great fighter, but he was very close to loosing to pure brute strength. I'll say it again it may be the closest thing to a real situation, but it is still very far removed from a real situation. Please don't use UFC as a measuring tool for the effectiveness of certain MA's, it's just not safe to do so. I
  8. Sorry, bro if it was an all out street brawl Kimo would have killed Gracie. They stop the fight a few times due to the fact that Kimo broke the fence a few times. Come on admit the BJJ is not an invincible MA and I'll say that UFC is the closest thing to a real fight. Don't feel insecure about what you're learning it's good it's just not a complete MA. That's why it has to be coupled with other Arts to make it complete. You are invincible.
  9. Oh you know this. Yeah, I'm sure he would have controlled Kimo that well in a streetfight, huh. Besides, that was then, this is now. I don't hear much Gracie activity in UFC anymore. Fighters have learned how to handle grapplers now, so now it's all about who the best fighter is. Not what the best style is. Look I'll say UFC is the closest thing to a "Real" fight if you say UFC is not "Reality". Deal?
  10. I actually have a low view of TKD because of some bad experiences with instructors, but that was a long time ago. TKD is a sport, you are correct. If you are speaking about MMA training methods and such, that is a completely different topic altogether. I never said MMA is not effective for a real situation, I would never say that. Also it depends what your Mixing and what the training methods are.
  11. All I'm saying is UFC and that type of training is training someone to win in that type of competition. If you want to train for reality, there is much more to it. You know what I'm talking about so I don't want to explain it. Part of training for reality is memorizing the phrase, " Don't be there."
  12. Life is study. Always more to learn. Not knowing drives us to know.
  13. Who's arguing? The closest thing, OK. Putting up a strawman, hmm. It's not doing you any good thinking UFC is the closest thing to reality.
  14. So basically it's a MMA school they named American Ju Jitsu.
  15. Yeah, you can use the momentum and throw them to the side, over you, drive their head into the ground. Mainly if someone wants to throw you or take you down go down yourself. If you do this you control your fall and you throw them off. This of course if they already have a hold of you.
  16. Interesting, I never thought about striking pressure points with it. Thanks granmasterchen.
  17. Bottom Line, UFC is not a real situation. Accept it and move on. It's a great sport, be proud. There are simply too many factors and infinite scenarios to claim that UFC compares in any way to the street. I personally have tapes of all of Royce's UFC fights and he's awesome, no doubt. But in many cases he couldn't submit some fighters fast enough, sometimes guys who knew nothing about grappling. Taking that long in a real situation is disasterous and I think anyone with a brain can see that. Now if some of you want to believe your fantasy that UFC is "Real" go ahead, go pick a fight in a real bad part of town and see what real is.
  18. Kusari Fundo? Chained weapon. Basically fighting and grappling with a chain.
  19. Grab the skin in the rib area and use them like handles and throw him. It really sucks.
  20. Great article, a little extreme but it get's to the truth. UFC is not reality. If it was it would be completely illegal and fighters would not come back to fight again, sorry. I can't even believe that anyone thinks that UFC is reality. It's a Sport, it's brutal but still a Sport. Royce is a great fighter, but even he's smart enough to fight in the ring. Fighting on the street to prove yourself is stupid. It's a good way to have a short life. I don't know about you guys, but I train because I love MA's not because I want to be a thug. If you love MA's and you love fight in competition, I applaud you. I love watching a good match. Streetfights make me really nervous and can get really out of hand. I see a streetfight in my neighborhood and I start ducking for cover, someone's bound to pull a gun and start spraying bullets. If I am forced into a fight, I want it to be over as fast as possible and I'm out of there, fast. People are idiots and will do stupid things when they are angry. Best thing to do is get the hell out of there, it ain't worth it.
  21. Yeah, if you are going to compete in NHB tournaments then Btroadman has a good point. If you don't want to mix MA's than just study MA's that are complete.
