  1. Cross training is fine; I cannot see any reason why not. I think a basic rule to our instructors is this: "Don't lie to them". Be honest and respect them as your (or one of your) instructors.
  2. Absolutely. Any good strength & conditioning coach will tell you for every pushing exercise you do (ie push-ups), you should also do a pulling exercise (ie pull-ups, rowing). This is good advice. You must always do the opposite to ensure an adequate excercise. Many injuries can and have been caused by focused training; the OP explained this with their seniors.
  3. Everyone has summed up your question. Large organizations, the JKA, KUGB, UKKW etc allow grade transfer. I understand that some do not operate like this though. I would recommend contacting the Dojo before attending to make sure.
  4. Wow! This is incedible. Very well done and good work in your moderation duties.
  5. Being a new member, I have not heard of the photo area until I read this thread. I will have a look though. I beleive this was the correct decision Patrick; members on other forums post images into the forum directly.
  6. Thanks, Bulltahr, for the info; I'll check it out, for sure!! It's great if you like to play games on your PC Bob. Wait for the sales to buy games as most get discounted by 75% if not more. Games are also tied to your account so you can play them on any pc or laptop as long as you log in. Thanks, Danielle!! I prefer to not play on my PC/laptop because I'm afraid that something bad will happen to those devices; I've not, as you know, had the greatest luck with either of them. I own a Xbox 360, I know, it's an antique, nowadays!! I own a XBox 360 too. I like games such as Splinter Cell, GTA etc. I have never owned a PC game; are they easy to play?
  7. I do not know much about video cameras, however the description leads me to beleive it is a good camera. I don't take photographs either, so I really can't help. It appears Patrick has all the information which you require. If you buy it, please let us know what its like.

    I certainly will, thank you.
  9. Good luck - please let us know how you got on.
  10. There's a similar thing on Facebook at present with a young boy. Playing with weapons and watching MA films does not contribute as training or skill - mere copying.
  11. Sounds an excellent read. We all know (or may not know) how important nutrition is in MA.
  12. > Running - stamina > Kata - stamina & endurance > Skipping - body conditioning > Light to moderate weights - mass > Rowing - body conditioning & stamina > Puzzles - mental stamina
  13. America seems to be big on MA. In the UK its not as popular, I think it is a dying interest over here. Its a sad thing nowadays that people think they can walk into a dojo and get a black belt in a few months.
  14. I hope not, I'm the only short, fat, hairy, hunchback karateka around here... Well...I'm short and somewhat hairy...
  15. I've just read the write-up; it does sound good. I have just ordered a book from Amazon, as soon as I have read that one, I will be making an order for that one I feel.

I haven't but would love to. I can't get the time off work to go to any.
  17. Certainly one I will try out. Thanks for your input sensei8.
  18. Agreed, I am a member of the UKKW which is timed kata, this is Wado. The KUGB dedicate karate to form only and no timings are in place. My personal thought is, form first, speed second.
  19. In the UK you have to be so careful with self defense. Sometimes, the attacker end up suiting the defender for injury and wins. Truly messed up system over here at present.
  20. Thank you bushido_man96.
  21. Indeed they are Patrick. I wasn't implying that the person was doing it for financial gain. I was speaking more generally.
  22. Excellent post!
  23. I'd certainly have a go at MMA and see what you think.
  24. I think a lot are monks in land. They seem to dedicate a lot of time into deep focus and practice.
  25. Absolutely! As for "operators" and "warriors", I most certainly am both: I'm a computer Operating Keyboard Warrior! Clickety clack! In other words... CredoTe <=== Nerd!!! HAHA, this is a great post.
