  1. Well done Patrick, that one hell of a lot of text.
  2. A bit late from me... Happy Birthday!!!
  3. That's what I like about Chinese MA, they are trained mentally how to fight without having to think about it. I really liked the video, thanks for sharing.
  4. That looks great...a big well done.
  5. Our Dojo specifies that we wear EKF Approved gear. We have a choice of blue or red - I decided on blue.
  6. I wonder whether these are what Chuck Norris used to wear in his films? I have tried kicking in my jeans and I ended up on my back. I could use some of them though.
  7. Welcome back to KF.
  8. Our Wado-Kai dojo specifies white Gis. I do know that some allow different colours such as black, blue etc...
  9. Exactly, I keep going on about it, but the art is important to me. Knowledge of its origins and what it means. In my art, karate, we say: karate is for everyday life, not just for the Dojo.
  10. A very interesting interview, thank you for sharing.
  11. Yes, it can be, and it can be..."Man, I miss THAT UFC!!" I like the fact that people wore their gis. Though Lyoto does wear his, plus I do respect the ones who bow before they enter. I believe that the ones who have a traditional martial arts background are the best fighters. Indeed, bowing shows respect.
  12. I think we also need to keep in mind that we are who we are; we should not try to be something that we aren't.
  13. Well he is a very good adapter and treats and teaches people according to their needs. A good thing about my Sensei is that he is strict and understanding at the same time. I have always found karate easy to pick up, however people who cannot, he understands this and adjusts when required. My Sensei knows his role in the Dojo too; he understands that 'we can learn from each other'.
  14. My Sensei was very good friends with Suzuki so I'm sure he will have the book in the Dojo somewhere. Thank you for your reply, I'll be sure to locate it.
  15. $99.99 I wont be getting any time soon. I'll second that.
  16. Thank you, I will check those out.
  17. Thank you for your reply. Frank Johnson is a former student of my sensei. I will look into those.
  18. I think I phrased that wrong. What I mean is that gloves appear to be a disadvantage is some MA's.
  19. Hey, I have faith in YOU!! You strike me as someone who trains for a purpose, and not for just a season. Remember this, I'm always saying that the difficulties are not that of the style, but of the practitioner itself!! Train hard, and train well!! Solid post! I can't add to that; you summed it up perfectly.
  20. When I push my body well past its limits, this is when I feel sick. Heat can also cause this...if you start to feel sick, take a break or slow it down until you are felling a little better. You're body is showing you that you are human.
  21. Money runs everything Very true, however it should not be like this.
  22. Good explanation; its sad that money is a priority. It should be hand and feet guards, is it worth so much to people to cause so much physical injury? You can be competitive without going out to hurt someone else violently.
  23. As long as people aren't trying to prove that one discipline is better than another. We can all learn from one another; because I train in two styles of karate doesn't mean that karate is more superior...I just like karate. I could learn from BJJ, TWD, Boxing etc... It's like a pick 'n' mix.
  24. I'm obsessed with MA too, a little too much people tell me. Any conversation I a part of soon turns into karate - I think it annoys people. There's nothing wrong with that; as a friend said to me today, its a passion and that is good dedication. Every town should have at least one good MA school, especially with the amount of people who just want to fight nowadays.
