  1. I would have to say: Muay Thai - stand up striking BJJ - I hear it is the best grapling art Kali and/or Silat - for weapons
  2. My favorite striking art is muay thai, but that is all I have taken.
  3. Phantasmatic great job on the squat!!!!!!! How much do you weigh? I weigh 165lbs (170lbs on a good day, last time I maxed was 20lbs or so ago).
  4. Phantasmatic thanks!!! I am also in a weight training class but my teacher doesn't make us max often (only once this school year).
  5. bench: last time I checked it was 205 but I haven't maxed in 6 monthes Clean: 205 also but I haven't maxed in 14 monthes Squat: 290 six monthes ago Deadlift: 355 six monthes ago All in pounds, I hardly ever max because I would rather be getting stronger then seeing the most I can lift.
  6. Blade does your teacher know what he is doing? Doesnt sound like it if he expects you to get 5lbs. on every max every two weeks. What other lifts do you max on? No offense intended. I am also in a weight training class and we have only maxed once (we get out for school for summer in like a month). g95champ try hang clean or power clean both are harder then to normal clean.
  7. I would have to go with Hapkido.
  8. I am thinking of taking jiu-jitsu but someone I know said that it is only usefull in the streets if the opponent is wearing heaving clothes. Is this true?
  9. What do you weigh also? My personel best is 70 pounds over my weight. When I weighted 140lbs last year i benched 210lbs. But benching isn't that important, squating is ten times more important i think.
  10. Over the past two years I have been in class for maybe eight monthes (I had to stop the classes when I played basketball and when I couldnt afford to pay for it).
  11. How long after you started Muay THai did you learn the knee and elbow stuff? I havent learned them yet but i want to.
  12. At my school you spar and compete when you are good enough too, if that is two monthes or 5 years, it is up to you.

  14. I am in a Muay Thai school and every once in a while some people practice submission (that is out side of muay thai). So I guess it just depends on the class. If you want to know call, or better yet, go to the schools and talk to one of their instructors and see if they do any submission.
  15. I am Fozzie.
  16. I am Fozzie.
  17. My question is what does Hapkido have as in strikes, grappling, and weapons stuff? Is this art very common? Would a Muay Thai practitioner help or hinder? Any answers would help.
  18. Who do you think is the best stand up fighter of today? Who do you think is the best grappler of today? Who do you think is the best fighter of today? I would tell you what i think but I dont really keep up on it, so what do you think?
  19. If you are looking for a practical art i would choose Muay Thai over TKD. You can learn the basic Muay Thai moves faster (that is what I hear anyway, i have never taken TKD). As for finding a school call all the places in the phone book and if that doesnt work just drive around and look for one. Muay Thai Kickboxing is an art that came from Thailand and uses kick, punkes, elbows, knees, and clinching. I have taken it for awhile and love it. If I were in your place I would narrow my search down to a few arts and then go to each one for at least one session (most places allow the first few for free). Then pick the one YOU like the best and stick to it. Good luck in your search
  20. Tigerstyle18 have you had a chance to ask your friend?
  21. welcome Coonaxus
