  1. They make it look so easy in the video too, I think starting at 5 mins is a good idea, but think it's one of those things the more you do it, the longer you'll last. Kind of like pull ups, last week I could only do 1 so I done countless sets of 1, now I can do 3. I think this will be the same. M. I guess you are right .... I will keep trying & keep eachother updated
  2. Can I do this one 6x 5 min or 3x 10 min or it has to be done 30 min as one shot ?!!!
  3. I have tried it today .... just 4 minutes no more it's pretty tough one , I think 5 minutes 6 times daily will be the only way to do it.

  5. I tried it last night, it was very uncomfortable after 5 minutes or so. But I would think it can be split over the day, say 3 10min sessions, and then work my way up to the 30 minutes. Let me know how you found it. M. Oh that will be very tough challenge ... I will keep you updated for sure
  6. That looks a great challenge ... I think I will try it

  13. That's a good question and I will waiting for advice with you as I have the same problem with all the high kicks but for me I have been training for only 2 months
  14. Thanks for advice .. I think "PRACTICE" is the magic word in the one's MA journey. regarding the last part of your post: I am actually practicing whenever I can even in the bathroom I feel weird but I know couple of MAtist that were doing the same early in their MA journies
  15. That makes me feel much better, I thought that's too long time
  16. Yes for sure I will and that's what I am trying to do all the time Thank you so much for your advice
  17. I am still a white belt and I feel really lost in the dojo when others do combinations. I know that's normal but my question is : Is it better to concentrate more on the basics that I have in my white belt syllabus for grading and try to improve and fine tune my techniques in it or is it better to ask a BB friend to teach me the more advanced stuff (punches, kicks, blocks, ....etc). When I spoke to my sensei about it his opinion was to concentrate on basics and after each grading he will teach me the next level techniques. My problem is I am training only 1.5 hours a week (due to work shifts) and the 1st grading needs 40 hours of practice which means 6-7 months !!! so I feel my progress will be too slow if I concentrate only on the very basics for my white belt !! Any opinions ?!!!
  18. Nice post .... It's always good to make pressure your ally that push you more
  19. That's great ... congrats on your black belt
  20. Good point
  21. Self defence situations last for how long ? good question IMO that varies from situation to another but are you training Karate for only self defence or you have other goals ?! If only for self defence so endurance will help you to perform better in this 30 or 60 seconds situation. If you are doing karate for any other reason, you will find a specific importance for endurance for each single reason
  22. Very nice video and nice application for the kata Thanks for the annotations
  23. Do you think someone can change this mindset or not ?! so if you were raised in the way that Pressure is your enemy, can one day it be your ally Sure! But, one must WANT to change said mindset in a proactive manner! Sure, pressure is one's ally already, but is that positive pressure or negative pressure? If negative, then do what's necessary to make it positive. For example, testing cycles can generate a lot of negative pressure, i.e., worrying if they'll fail or not, to such a point that the negative pressure affects performing anxiety. That's why I'm always saying..."Allow the testing cycle to take care of itself", and that means, what happens will happen, don't worry about the test itself; just perform/execute to the best of your ability. You mess up during a test, big deal! A passing grade isn't based on a few mistakes; they happen! Pressure on a testing cycle IS that necessary ally, and in that, don't listen to the naysayers, block them out, and rock and roll!! You control the mindsets so that your mindsets don't control you!!
