  1. I know myself and a lot of the people from my dojo agree whole heartedly with Martial_Artist.
  2. What hasn't MA done for me ? It's done countless things, controlling my anger, patience, perserverance, strong mind, confidence, happiness, etc. It's something I look forward to, I don't have to find any motivation to train as opposed to school work =p
  3. I'd say lack of water/food before taining and pushing yourself too hard when you've been out for a month. Next time you go, eat some carbs and drink water before you go, all should be sweet then.. It'll probably take you a little while to get back into it like before though.
  4. I strongly believe cross training is the way go to. I think everyone should cross train to compensate for the weaknesses in their art.
  5. From what little I've read about wing chun, they control the centre line and force their opponent to attack indirectly in a circular or curved path, ie. hooks, etc. This is what they're trying to do ---> force them to take the longest distance when striking, they can then take the shortest and most direct way which is straight to their opponent and beat them with quicker and more efficient ways.
  6. I'd recomend doing 2-3 sets a day and getting some protein.
  7. yeah, key word IF. Anyone can do what if! Even so, get that person to fight someone who's been taking a martial art and can take a hit and hit back tenfold.
  8. Are you kidding ? Why is there such a high number of rape victims ?
  9. Yeah, I've been in quite a few hostile situations. The best technique has got to be avoiding it altogether by being aware of your surroundings.
  10. I reccomend dynamic stretches in the morning, before every workout and isometric stretches during your cool down.
  11. I haven't done any striking for a while, I do purely grappling now.. My technique is still as good as it was before, there's just a big lack of flexibility which makes my kicks harder and look poor when I attempt to kick higher than what I actually can because I still expect to be able to kick at the same level.
  12. KSN Doug, I agree, but I think it's better to be judged by 7 than carried by 6. I think that's the expression, I'm not sure.
  13. It's up to you really.. Personally, I'd spend my time doing weights instead of cardio, because cardio can easily be done at home, and the gym has machines which cost too much to buy and stick in your garage.
  14. That's where your wrong! People are starting to look at being overweight as an illness now.
  15. A little paranoid do you think ? Still, it's a good idea and I like it. Better to be safe than sorry. Jeremy Glick is a true hero and if my training paid off in a small fraction of the way his did, I'd die a very happy man
  16. Blade, I posted it in here 'cause I figured more people would read it this way.. I carry sticks to choke up my car if I have to change my tyre, I'm contemplating about carrying a knife, but I think it's more trouble than what's worth.
  17. Do any of you guys come across other martial artists who come across as arrogant to you ? I probably sound hypocritical, but oh well =p
  18. Does anyone here carry weapons legally, or illegally ?
  19. I'll put it down to syndrome X, most people who are overweight have it.
  20. Is your fiance lurking on the boards somewhere that we don't know about ?
  21. This one's pretty obvious, but care about your students, not their money. If you care about the students, the money should come rolling in. Do you do some sort of promotion where the price decreases the more you train ? Free trial classes for a few lessons maybe ?
  22. What ? That doesn't make sense.. The reason you do knuckle push ups is to make your wrists stronger, therefore a harder punch, etc. That's like saying you shouldn't spar because you can't fight well enough yet.
  23. Conrgatulations, Jack! Gonna write up a little report ?
  24. Netscape is generally pretty bug. It's open source software which means you're free to fix the bugs up yourself! =p I downloaded mozilla the other, it's awesome, it has tabbed browsing. Here's a link to an Australian mirror if you want to download it, http://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.0/mozilla-win32-1.0-installer.exe
