  1. Every time someone calls JKD a style, Bruce turns over.
  2. Dog Brothers Everyone should be friends at the end of the day. Stop when someone taps, use common sense. No suing nobody for nothing. (A triple negative is a negative, so no suing.)

  8. Musashi also killed 60 dudes in one on one duels. That tends to give credibility as a swordsman, although it could arguably be seen as a psychological issue.
  9. The video segment that said Krav Maga is not Krav Maga. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrbgE7ieUTU Here is some more legit Krav Maga
  10. We are of the opinion that 80 percent of Dillman's stuff is great. The rest seems like it's just for show or maybe hypnosis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsSzSflkns8 80% of it is great? 80% of Dillman's curriculum consists of pressure points and chi. I would like to hear the opinion of others on pressure point fighting. I'm not going to overly defend Dillman,. However, I've seen some of his books and the pressure points are useful. That being said, it's not Death touch, and I think no one can do a no touch knockout. I think anyone will agree that a punch on the jawline is better than a punch on a cheekbone. A kick to the liver is better than a kick 6 inches higher. Fighters who don't believe in pressure points use some of the simpler ones. I think it's useful to study pressure points, but it would be silly to stake all of your training on them. What you can find on youtube of Dillman is the stuff I don't care for, and that influences the opinions of sensible people about everything else he's involved with.
  11. If the guy came back, dude would have told him that he is not left handed.
  12. Recovery? From side mount?
  13. We get some good BJJ instruction over here, but our core group are generalized MA. Books and videos are good when you have a solid understanding of basics. But quality instruction in person is far better.

  15. I knew that was true when I was suspended in middle school because some kid punched me in the face. I didn't even hit back, but if i had... I would love to encourage my students to fight back when someone's picking on them, but I would be so fired. I noticed a kid doing his homework at the gym yesterday. In the health class book there was a chapter on violence. I asked to read it. The words self defense did not exist, but zero tolerance does. In other words we will punish you for defending yourself. I will agree that in most situations it is best to walk away, or run. However, if you can't get away, crying in the fetal position is not a very good defense. Also they say to tell an adult. Good idea, but which adult? If the book tells kids how to deal with violence and says to tell an adult, it should say when to tell a teacher or call 911. Some adults just do not care. Also what do you do if the violence is abuse? There was no mention of dealing with child abuse. What should a kid do if they tell a teacher and nothing changes?
  16. And an iron shirt demo for the childrens.
  17. I think you mean the Romans, but they did take much of their culture from the Greeks. They invented the pro wrestling gimmicks. The guys with the net and trident were supposed to be Atlantans.
  18. The word master has different meanings. For me, to call someone a master martial artist is like a master craftsman. I would say my teacher is a master martial artist, His experience goes back to the time I was born, he's studied many facets of the arts, gained a competence in weapons, kicks, punches, trapping, clinch and grappling. He's taught for 20 years, some of us instructor level ourselves. He's an example of a great martial artist and a wonderful human being. We call him Tim.
  19. I just noticed your from Alaska. You could conceal almost anything in winter clothing.
  20. Yeah, and you left your gear in my locker. You should probably come get it cause I can't fit my nunchucks in there.
  21. Shoulder lifts cardio kicks and jabs staff kata
  22. Might work with self-confidence, the other 4 would fall under serious scrutiny. It does however fall under the weapons range of combat, and would definitely stun unbalance and control, though evasion would be better.
  23. See you tomorrow. Some saint wrote a letter before being executed back in the day, so I had to spend the day with the woman. Those things are somehow related.
  24. In such a situation, I would be at home loading my rifle, and any rioter coming in my home would be shot. That being said, I carry a knife clipped on my pocket, it's legal, it's sharp, oiled and I train with it. If police look me over, I would say they are suspicious. At which point I would ask them to take it off me. The last thing I need in life is a nervous person with a gun thinking I'm a threat.
  25. Unfortunately, television must appeal to the lowest common denominator. To keep people paying, someone has to behave badly. If the Ultimate Fighter program focused on training and fights, it would be a fun show. Instead the focus is on grown men acting like spoiled juveniles, oh and there's a fight at the end. I believe half of the idiocy is put on because Dana White understands his target demographic is the unwashed masses, not a select few cultured martial art enthusiasts. In the words of a great philosopher of my time, Dave Mustain, "Peace sells but who's buyin?"
