  1. Reminds me of Tong Po in Kickboxer.
  2. It varies. It should take several years of a few days a week.
  3. There are many reasons why I haven't climbed Mt Everest, the main one being "dont wanna." It's over there, and I am over here, soaking my feet in caviar. -Stephen Colbert
  4. Ryne Gartner, seen rolling with spaceman Craig at the beginning of the 3rd video, had a fight the next day. Here it is. Ryne is wearing the black and white trunks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iclM-LYauu0
  5. To fight Bruce Lee, I would keep a low stance and a tight, conservative guard. I'd use footwork to herd him into a corner and try to turn it into a grappling match. I have about a hundred pound weight advantage, and more Jiu Jutsu experience.
  6. But seriously, more info please. 110 mph on what- punch, kick? Who is this, who recorded data? How is reaction time measured?
  7. It's more rural than southern. You have logged a few hours in a tractor ya know.
  8. Go back in time and protect John Connor. One liners will be spoken, baby.
  9. By the time you reach a master's rank you're old enough that beating people up irritates your arthritis. It's more a matter of pragmatism than values.
  10. It's not competition, but here's some video of open mat. GroinStrike has informed me that video must be posted since he hit a kote gaeshi takedown. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNMM_V18XPc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRLx5ziD8W8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ALrxtJfGS8
  11. The man in black fled through the desert, and the gunslinger followed. The author told me to stop reading, and I didn't listen. Long rants were made to random people who didn't care.
  12. My link broke... Here's a new one. https://www.adnantarsha.com/Terms2.htm
  13. There is a big difference between training and competing. I've seen several older teenagers come through our buddy's gym.
  14. Says someone who wants me in his wedding. PM me details on that, by the way.
  15. My friend made a form for his beginners that included all the basic strikes and blocks, throws and controls that he wanted them to know at a white belt level. All quite literal and based off his 2 person drills.
  16. Bob, if you lived nearby, we would take field trips to your place. I like your way of thinking.
  17. You mean the urge to use the Homer Strangle Technique isn't normal?
  18. No, a person who is mounted has no way of bringing their legs or hips into the equation. They have no fulcrum to work with. A 2 handed choke from mount forces a person to defend with their hands and arms, thereby giving you the opportunity to seize an elbow, shift to side mount, frame on arm and head and slide a leg over. 2 handed chokes are rude, and if you're going to do it, keep the pressure on the arteries and off of the trachea. Don't hurt your training partners.
  19. Did you guys read the whole thread? I'm afraid you've missed the point. That said, it's a crappy position for a 2 handed choke, and could be escaped in all sorts of ways.
  20. Best of the best is underrated. Sure, with the exception of James Earl Jones, the acting was bad. Characters were stereotypes, and the moral of the story was beaten upside your head.... But those things along with great movie martial arts made it awesome. And I'm pretty sure Eye Patch Guy could take Frank Dux in a fight. Edit: That was all off topic, sorry. I've been thinking about controlling a person while causing little harm. My friend hooked me up with a security job last week, which I hope to do more of. It is not good for a bouncer or security professional to destroy unruly patrons with an iron fist.
  21. Point taken. My brain is stuck in the pre-internet era. I was thinking more about getting students, which a website could help, and in some areas would be almost essential. But Patrick mentioned spreading a message... If Bruce Lee had a blog, and responded to comments on said blog, it would be much more clear what JKD was meant to be. A series of random thoughts in notebooks probably wasn't a clear as an open dialogue could have been. Same could be said of many system's founders.
  22. Well, I could be wrong about the yellow pages but he died in 53. My point was he made more impact on karate than many dojos with great websites.
  23. Chojun Miyagi never ran a website, nor was he listed in the yellow pages.
  24. I've heard that the whole flag girl concept came from standard bearer defensive tactics...
