  1. Oh, ok, I thought you had mastered the Dark Side and was Force-choking people Vader style.
  2. These guys are my heroes. I want to be a dog brother when I grow up.
  3. no- arm D'Arce?!?! Explain please.
  4. I think Hershel is a pacifist, and doesn't condone the killing of zombies. Crom laughs at pacifists.
  5. They need to revoke the blonde woman's FOID card.
  6. I'll top that. For $150 I'll bestow the Honorable Title of Supreme Infallible Grandmaster of Awesomeness and Speaker of the Sun and Stars. Seriously though, one of the Gracies said that a belt covers 2 inches of your butt and the rest of it is up to you. If there were a universal standard of knowledge and skill, then the world's youngest 5th dan would be a thing of wonder. As it is, the youngest in the world is a travesty to the system of rank.
  7. Great reply. You covered most of what I would say. However, the situation Karateka63 is describing doesn't sound like he is talking about sparring with people at the dojo, but rather challenging his friends from school or some such thing. If so, STOP THAT. Say the word "spar" to the average young man and what he hears is "chance to show off how hardcore I am. Come at me , bro!" If sparring is like that in your dojo, dojang, club, or backyard and the teacher doesn't correct it, then you need to leave and find a real dojo.
  8. I've seen him angry and off on a rant. Piper is fitting.
  9. Give me enough money and I'll award 5th dan in utero.
  10. Maybe if his legs were shorter. I'm shaped like an off season Iron Sheik.
  11. Golddust, all the way. I can relate to that guy, and the music has that awesome Ennio Morricone feel to it.
  12. http://www.eji.org/eji/childrenprison/deathinprison Read this.
  13. That's when criminal habits are forming. Most serious violent adult crimes are committed by people who had a history of this stuff as a young teenager. At 14 they should be learning to be responsible decent human beings, not acting like lower functioning gangta wannabes.
  14. So.... glorified monkey dance full of sound and fury, signifying nothing? I never understood it. Why commit assault and battery with no real intent to do harm? To touch someone at all in a manner intended to intimidate is assault. To do so with intent to cause physical harm is battery. It is the epitome of idiocy to commit such a crime with no real intent. Especially when you consider that there are people out there who would curb stomp you for pushing them. Over what? In every one of these so called fights, the aggressor risks jail time, serious injury and death, just so they can tell other idiots how tough they are.
  15. ROFL!! Flashes of my early nunchaku training just shot through my mind....OUCH, OUCH, OUCH, OUCH... Can you recommend a video of GOOD nunchery? I would like to see the way they were intended to be used.
  16. That's why I stay away from nunchucku.
  17. At the core of what you're asking is "How do we get a large group people of differing values to respect each other?" Of course the only answer is Mind Control Drugs. The human race is very egocentric, and that will never change. I think all an instructor can do is make sure his own students ranks have value. Res ipsa loquitur, or if you'd prefer, proof is on the floor.
  18. I say if it's part of the system, teach it. I was doing weapons training when I was 10. My only issue would be the temperment of the student. I refuse to teach anyone I feel is violent, child or adult. When teaching children, parents have to approve of what their kids are doing as well, so there is not a simple answer here. As far as teaching, I'd say brown belts should be able to run a class.
  19. Definitely. It is important for anyone who is going to be in a profession that may require combat to consider the possible sacrifice. For the rest of us, we should have an understanding of what we are willing to do to survive.
  20. Such a death is something to grateful for. However, seeing a family bury a young person is awful. Regardless of the manner of death, when a mother buries a child, she hurts for the rest of her life.
  21. A good death is when you've lived to be old, outlived your older family members, raised your children if you've had any and maybe seen the grandkids grow up to start families, written a will, then die in a quick relatively easy manner. A good death is one that, while mourned, does not cause anyone a lifetime of heartache.
  22. Those guys all lived to be a good age, even the ones before modern medicine. You all must be doing something right.
  23. How do you go about fact checking, apart from asking the oldest surviving person in the line?
  24. As a terribly uncoordinated person, I only move my head when something is moving toward it with mass and velocity. That said, people who use head movement well are harder to hit.
  25. Hey, you took my belt... Congrats and enjoy.
