  4. As the others have said, you're never to old. I started when I was 34 with my son who was 14 at the time. It was my wife's idea, something for us to do together. I was thinking she was crazy and that I was too old to start something like Karate. Well, I was wrong. It's great, at 41 I'm in better shape now than when I started. My son quit when being a teenager got in the way(he's in the Navy now) but I kept on going. My kicks are getting a little lower every year. I never regret starting, and when ever my wife gives me a hard time about going to train and just turn to her and say, "it was your idea, remember". Your not too old and it something that you and your son can enjoy together. Good Luck
  5. We have discussed improvised weapons in class. Some of those discussed: Keys, Womens rings, Rolled up paper or magazine, Hair Brush, High Heels etc.

  8. You still have time to train had a be the best prepared person there. Good Luck.
  9. Maybe in today's world it's a little unusual but our Instructor who has 41 yrs. experience tells us stories of when he first started in the Martial Arts. Before class all students had to clean the floors with damp towels and then use dry ones to get the moisture off. After class they also had to clean the floors the same way to get all the sweat up. In his words "and we were paying for this". Back then they also brought in Ken Ogawa from Japan(all Japan 1972) to teach for a while, he used to whack the students on the their back with a split bamboo rod to correct them. Our instructor laughs and says "you can't do that this days."

  12. Welcome to KF. It's great that your son is aspiring to be a Sensei one day, maybe he could be one here on the boards as well. When he gets a little older of course.
  13. Congrats! Keep up the hard work.

  17. As one of your Sensei's has already said, you did very well considering you knee injury. I think we all think we could have done better. I know I have after every promotion. It's OK to self evaluate yourself, but don't be too hard on yourself. It sounds like with all things considered you did pretty darn well.
  18. Good Luck, you'll do fine. Let us know how everything went.
  19. OH NO! Tell me it isn't so. Don't you know the world stops spinning and time stands still when LOST is on? Just kidding! I'm sure you've had good reasons. If nothing else maybe you could at least read the transcripts to get caught up. Of course I'm here to answer any questions you may have. Have a great day, and a better tomorrow!!

  22. From what I hear here the season will start Oct. 6 and run the first six episodes and then it will take a break for I believe 7 weeks before a new episode will be seen. I guess the re-runs will be during the Holidays so maybe it won't seem to bad. KarateK, have you guys completed season two yet?
  23. Welcome.
