Hey KarateK, First of all, I can't believe you won't be able to watch LOST. That's just not right. There should be protest's and boycotts for this outrage. I don't know if your able but you can watch the shows on abc.com. Last nights episode is already up. Will the black smoke is back and with a vengeance this time. The smoke manifest itself to look like Eko's brother. They talk for a while, Eko says he's not going to repent for anything he has done in the past. His brother looks at him and says, "you talk to me as if I was your brother". After that all heck breaks loose, the smoke grabs Eko and slams him into trees several times. He is already in pretty bad shape from the polar bear. Locke and the others arrive to find Eko lying face down on the ground. Locke turns him over and Eko whispers something in his ear. Sayid asks Locke what he said, Locke looks at Sayid and says, "We're next".

Just saw the latest episode. Awesome! Eko has now joined the likes of Anna and Libby. Benry has a tumor and wants Jack to save him. Julilette is still a mystery women. She appears to want Jack to operate on Ben, but she wants Jack to kill Ben and make it look like an accident. Good Stuff! Next weeks episode will be the last one before the long break. It is supposed to be a big cliff hanger!

Which names don't you recognize? Danielle Rousseau - Crazy French Lady that caught Benry (Henry Gale, now known as Ben) in the net in the Jungle. Alex - She is Danielle's Daughter. She is the one that helped Claire escape from Ethan. Hope that helps. I probably shouldn't mention Karl, Danny Pickett and Collen.
-
I believe the girl you are referring too was Alex, Danielle's (French Lady) daughter. I guess the lighting arrestor was Desmonds way to test his new found power of premonition. This last episode was a rough one for Sawyer (Sorry Karateka). The whole two island thing has got me thinking.

I'm sure they'll do a spin-off of the show called "FOUND". -

Thanks for the nice comments. I believe KF is the best Martial Arts site out there. I may be a little bias. A lot of it has to do with the great posters we have here as well. -
Martial Arts - My Way of Life!

Thanks Guys, it's been a great experience. And KarateK you know I'll talk about LOST in a hot second. -
This post was originally published as an article in a dedicated KarateForums.com Articles section, which is no longer online. After the section was closed, this article was most to the most appropriate forum in our community. It was six years ago on a Sunday morning sitting in church that my life would take a turn in a direction that I could not foresee. My family and I were there, and before the service started, my wife and I were looking through the bulletin like we have many Sunday’s before. This day however would be different. On the back of the bulletin there was a small paragraph about the starting of a Christian martial arts class by one of the members of our congregation. I immediately said to my self that I was way too old for martial arts. You see, I was thirty four at the time, but it sounded like a good idea and I new it would be successful. My wife on the other hand thought it was a great chance for me and our then thirteen year old son to do something together. After much protest and explaining that I was in no shape to start something as physical as martial arts, I agreed to give it a try for a couple of weeks and see what it was all about. After all, I was always fascinated by the amazing things I saw growing up watching Kung Fu Theater on Saturday mornings. Maybe given a little time, I would be able to do some of that magical stuff I had so often seen in those badly dubbed movies. Just kidding, of course! Well the day finally came for us to go to our first class. My son and I show up ready to learn in our blue jeans. What were we thinking? Thank goodness we weren’t the only ones that new absolutely nothing about the martial arts. That night we meet the man who would be our instructor. He brought with him 38 years of experience and numerous real life applications of the martial arts. The first thing he told us all was to wear something a little less restrictive for the next class. I had already figured that one out. He told us that, at one time, he had schools that he ran but became disheartened by the business side that goes with running a dojo. He had given up teaching and had no intentions of ever starting to teach again. One day he received word that his original instructor (Hanshi John Pachivas) had passed away. He and many other students of Hanshi Pachivas attended the memorial service and all of the black belts that had been promoted by Hanshi Pachivas, himself included, draped their belts over his casket as a show of respect. There were hundreds of belts after all was said and done. This one event changed the way our instructor felt about teaching. He saw how many people that his instructor had influenced and thought that he was being very selfish in not sharing his knowledge with others so they could have the same opportunity that he had growing in the martial arts. He decided to start this school to share his knowledge and experiences free of charge for those willing to learn. He explained to us that he taught slowly but if we stuck with him we would have a very good understanding of the martial arts. There would be no belt testing fees, he would test us and buy our belts for us as we earned them. In this way, he felt no pressure from students or parents to promote before someone was absolutely ready. He stated that those who were there solely for the recognition that a belt color may bring will get bored and probably drop out. I was always one to say that if you’re going to do something, you might as well do it right. So, I made it up my mind that I was going to be in it for the long haul. It’s now been six years since my son and I started training, unfortunately my son quit training after about four and half years to join the Navy. Not to say that we are not very proud of him for doing so, just that I wish he would have been able to continue training. I lost out on a good training partner as well. My wife asked me when our son was no longer able to come to class if I was going to continue. I told her that I wasn’t going to quit for anything. I had the martial arts bug, I guess. I continue to train and, this past June, I and two others achieved the rank of Shodan. It’s a very good feeling to know that this rank was earned by hard work and determination to become the very best martial artist that I can be. It’s funny to think back at how many students started and dropped out over the six years we’ve been training. I have a better understanding now of how hard it must be to run a dojo where you must charge a fee to survive and at the same time keep the students interested and goal oriented. After all, our class is free and you have the opportunity to learn from one of the best with almost forty years of experience and yet I know we have gone through hundreds of students these past six years. I’m so happy I stuck with it even though there were times when I asked myself if I’m doing the right thing. Martial arts are very much like a roller coaster ride, a lot of ups and downs but the ups far outweigh the downs. I not only have learned an art where I can defend myself, my family or those who are unable to defend themselves. I, and the other two black belts, now teach the younger students and help them with their journey in the arts. I also have found another family at my dojo. I know there would be no hesitation if I got on the phone and called Hanshi or someone else from the class for help. Over the years we have had the honor to meet and train with some of our instructors’ students who are now teachers themselves. They have come from Seattle, Boston and Florida to train and share their knowledge with us. They have also become close friends and people I care a great deal about. I guess the moral of this story is to take hold of something and make it yours. Never give up and never say you can’t do something. Tell me you won’t do it, but never say you can’t do it. You can know how rewarding it can be to accomplish something that you set out to do and to make it a part of you life that no one can ever take a way from you. Every once in a while my wife will ask me “are you going to karate tonight?” I just look at her and say “remember, it was your idea that got me started with karate.” I can’t imagine my life now without martial arts.

In that episode we do see that Sun can be very deceptive when she wants too. We also find out that she did have an affair with Jae (bald guy teaching her English). So is the baby really Jin's? Stay tuned! Sun does shoot the lady on the boat, I believe her name is Collen, but we don't know if she died yet. The rumor has it that Jack is going to be asked to help one of the "Others", Collen perhaps. Danny "the Bossman" is going to be upset because he and Collen seem to be husband/wife or girlfriend/boyfriend. As for as Sun goes, she's OK. Sayid and Jin are having a gun battle with the "Others" on the boat as they pull away from the dock. Jin jumps in the water hollering Sun name as he swims after the boat. Sun is able to get on deck and jump overboard. Jin and Sun find each other in the water. Now with their boat gone, Sayid, Jin and Sun are left with a long walk back to camp.

I thought that would get your attention KarateK. Yeap, Sun, Jin and Sayid are on Desmonds sailboat on a rescue mission to save Jack and the gang. They tie the boat to the dock where Michael and Walt left to go home. Sayid has this plan for him and Jin to hide in the woods and what for the "Others" to come. He was going to kill them all but two for interrogation. Sun stays on the boat. Well, the "Others" some how bypass the ambush and get on the boat with Sun. Can't remember her name (Blond curly haired girl) tells Sun that they are not her enemy but if she shoots her then they will be. Sun didn't buy that and shot her right in the gut. The "Others" take the boat and Sun escapes into the water. I have a feeling that this is the lady that Ben may ask Jack to help. As for Kate. Well, Sawyer and her are doing hard labor. Kate is swinging a pick axe and Sawyer is moving the rock. Sawyer can't resist a sweaty Kate and the way she swings that pick axe and rushes over to her and plants a big wet kiss on her. Danny (The "Boss") and the others holler for them to "cut that out" and smack Sawyer up side the head with the butt of a rifle. Sawyer promptly kicks all their butts and takes a rifle away. He has the drop on them right? Wrong! Juliette has a pistol on Kate and tells Sawyer to drop the rifle or she'll kill Kate. He does. As it turns out Sawyer was just testing them to see who had any fight in them. When they are back in the cages Sawyer tells Kate that she tastes like strawberries and Kate tells Sawyer that he tastes like fish biscuits. Sawyer latest nickname for Kate is now "Shortcake".

Not a bad idea Shotokan-kez. So far this season has answered a few questions but in "LOST" tradition even more questions are revealed. Watching the old episodes may cut down on some of the confusion. I doubt it though.
-
Jack is most certainly an important character. In last nights episode Ben tells him that if he does what they say, then he'll (Ben) personally take Jack home. I think he is going to ask Jack to help one of the "Others" who was shot by Sun last night. Jack can't go home, he's too important. We also found out last night that Kate taste's like strawberries and Sawyer taste's like fish biscuits.

Yeah, not sure about Juliette. She just seems very sad at the begining of the show. And her and Ben don't seem to agree on every point. There is some tension there. Jack is a smart guy and he nay be the getting into Juliette's head. I guess we'll have to watch and see.
