  1. Alright, how can I say this without hurting other people. Wait...what was the question again. Let me scroll back down the page. Ah, forget it....I'm feeling sleepy, need to take a nap.
  2. Welcome. I study Yoshukai Karate. There might be a mispelling on your spelling of Yoshukai. Ah, well. You can stay.
  3. From a karate prespective: mid and far range. Timing: the difference between getting in a knock down technique and just a hit. Vary your strategy: don't react the same way every time. Combinations: no one hit techinque. jab, reverse, roundhouse, reverse, hook, ridgehand. He can't block them all. Angles: never step straight in or you'll run into his attacks. Always step-in at a 45 degree angle. Footwork: Always keep your hands and feet moving. Never move backward. Always side-step. Never step-in "squared". Practice, sparr, practice, sparr, practice, sparr, practice, spa................
  4. I wasn't going to reply, but since you said, "PLEASE," I couldn't resist. I'll be the first one to throw in my two cent, five cents if I have more change. I can talk about karate and martial arts in general with any body in the dojo. But if I talk to anybody outside the dojo, they think I'm bragging about my abilities, or just showing off. Thats why most of my friends are in the dojo, or have some interest in the martial arts. There's is nothing with out society, except maybe, the drugs and guns and murders and rape and violence. But thats life. Other than that, alot of people are just ignorant #%@%$%$#%%$*%#$&*tch. It doesn't matter what other people say, its what you tell yourself after they are gone that matters.
  5. If I knew a quick and easy way to make money, I wouldn't shared it.
  6. My first thought was, "Dammit another troll." But wait, you're not a troll, ....or are you? Ah, well. You have to start somewhere. This a trick question, right? I didn't know there was an awareness system out there. I just assume that if I trained hard I'll be aware of my own ability, therefore be able to be aware of my surroundings. Dammit, all of the meditation, and perefferal vision training I've done by myself are just crap.
  7. I had that same dream the other day. Welcome.
  8. Tenacious D is the greatest band in the world. It evens saids that on the cd so they must be good.
  9. Clip 1). I was looking forward to seeing the Kung Fu guy break into a praying mantis, but he got tackle before he could do anything. Damn. The problem with this match is that they were fighting under MMA rules where you can grapple, and the Kung Fu guy nows nothing about grappling. Why didn't they go with kickboxing rules where there is no grappling. It would have been a more even match. The Kung Fu guy got slaughter. But in general, the problem with pitying one style of martial art against another, is that one will have an upper advantage. Thats why in NHB cometition and the UFC, the competitors are well-rounded in martial arts skills. Or at least take know there weakeness, and stick to there strenghts. For example, Maurice Smith will never go to the ground, unless he has to, because he knows that's not his strenghts. Finally, the Kung Fu guy should have kept far away if he knew this guy was a grappler. Should have waited until the guy came in, then parry, and attack. Thats what they do. They stress in-fighting, like wing chun. Either the Kung Fu guy was stupid, over-confident, or just stupid, because he should have taken some grappling class. The grappler knew what he was doing, the Kung Fu did not. I'll save the 2nd clip for latter.
  10. 1. None that I've been in, but then I haven't been in alot of fights. Try one for yourself and find out. You'll like it. 2. If its more than one attacker, you'll better run. Why? They are looking for your head on a plate and anyone of them can carry a conseal weapon upon their body. 3. Not in my opinion. In the UFC, both sides have consented to the fight. They want to get the sh*t beat out of them, so they prepare for months by training and know the risks. They also know that if they are in a life threaten situation, they can tap-out or know the ref will call. In competetion, the X factor is taken out. In real life, it is not. The X factor is a weapon, the rain, the gravel, your clothing, or just your unability to comprehend whats going on from the shock that if you don't get out of this, you might die.
  11. Which two books did you read? I have read all of the books BL and Inansato have written, except "The Tao of Jeetkundo". They are good books to read, but unless you can find how to apply what you have read, it is useless knowledge. How do I know? Because I read those books and thought I could kick as$, practised the shuffle, stance, punches, but when I took Yoshu-Kai Karate, I got beatup by a green belt. Answers: 1. If you have read the books, you should know. 2. The point of turning your foot inward is giving your opponent a smaller target area, and not to have your body "squared". Take some class.
  12. My dad is exactly the same...so you're my long lost brother. About your MA studies, it is more important to choose the right instructor than to choose the right style. A good instructor with true knowledge, will help you be a greater martial artist. He will push you harder during class than you could imagine, and help motivate you when you most need it. When going out to check out different schools, go and watch the advance class, black belts, cause thats where you want to be. If the black belts suck, find some other school. If the black belts are good, take a intro class to see what its all about. Good luck, bro.
  13. The best way to learn is to actually take some class, but good luck in trying to find a Korean style that teaches the sword. In, America, Korean styles don't include weapons, so you'll have to travel to Korea.
  14. At testing, all the sihons that haven't move away, come to the dojo to grade the lower ranking students. There's around 12. But usually, theres about five that attend every class during the week. The advance class has around 15 black belts. Its not a question of how many black belts you have in class, but how many black belts that KNOW what they are doing. If you don't have alot of black belts, examine the ability of the black belts now in class. If they are good, stay in class. If they suck, leave. You'll be wasting your money by staying.
  15. Here's another way to strength your grip: Get a 10lbs wieght, tie a rope around the middle opening, tie the other end in the middle of a stick 6inchs long. Grip the stick with the rope hanging from the middle. When held at shoulders height, the wieght should be rested on the floor. Roll the wieght up, and roll it back down. It works great. For the stick, I used a wooden broom stick which I got from a old lady that lives next door.
  16. NFL: Washington Redskins NBA: Lakers MLB: Cubs I watch alot of college football more than any other sport and root for Alabama.
  17. You're not alone, ad. When I feel depressed or angry, I just go running. I'll run, and run. The feeling inside fuels my need to run, until I'm dead tired. I'll be numb to everything, until the emotion rise up again and I'll run. Or sometime, I'll go and punch my heavy bag without any gloves, until my knuckles start bleeding. Everybody has some kind of baggage they carry around. Some people just have other ways to let it all go, by talking to friends or love ones. I just tend to keep everything bottle up inside, and take it out by running or hitting the heavy bag.
  18. The best way to fake someone is to keep your hands and feet moving. But here's a fake with a reverse punch. Perform a reverse punch by turning your shoulders forward, then step roundhouse, then placing your foot as close to the opponent as possible. Follow through with a backfist, and a reverse punch. Make sure they buy your fakes.
  19. Hey, I love running. I run and walk a mile after weighttraining to cool down. Here are some suggest to help you like to run: Try imagining that someone is chasing you, and you have to sprint as fast as you can one block on the street. When you get there, beat up some of his friends, and still have enough energy to run back. That's what I do, but I run on a track, and I sprint on the straight-away. I sprint to one end, imagine I'll have to beat up somebody, and sprint back and do the same. Imagine that your life depends on how fast you sprint. I do this twice. Also, when running, I change my breathing, inhale once, exhale twice. Just some variety so running doesn't become boring. Running is all mentally.
  20. Welcome. I know someone name Eva. Funny, right? Not funny as .
  21. Exactly, bro, over the internet you can be anybody, and have the ablitities to do anything. But I'm not bullsh*ting. Imagine, by just leaning back and performing a roundhouse you'll be off balance. If I'm within arms length, my hands will reach your funkin head before your kick does. If I'm not within arms distance, I'll just step in, backfist reverse punch. Just the pushing of my backfist will knock you off balance.
  22. Debatable? Yeah, right. If you roundhouse me to the head, and you're within arms length, by just performing the technique you'll be off balance. All I have to do then is just push you on the shoulder and you'll be falling backward. Or do a leg sweep and you'll be on your back. If your kicking me, when you should be punching me, you're going to pay for it. And what this, ".. very few people kick well." I hope your just saying that because we're over the internet.

  24. How many times I think of martial arts in a day? Every 2 seconds. How many times I think about women? Every 2.5 seconds. The martial art is a big part of my life, especially training. I feel that the martial artist are a different breed of people, and it is great to hear other people with more of a passion for the martial art.
