  1. i think...exactly...it is still a matter of opinion. Just as is everything I have said about my teacher in a defense.
  2. It should teach you to be aware....Are we aware all the time...no...but should we be...thats a matter of opinion Im afraid.
  3. Thats good to hear, I always love to hear stories of martial artists starting out, because alot of times the practitioners dont stay around that long after they start, I hope you have a safe and beautiful journey.
  4. His training method is this particular part was to show me the line of "chaos". Step one your drop your belt, step two your bend down to get your belt, step three, you should have always been looking...this was a way that he explained it to me as well, but also he told me that I should not have dropped my belt, and this would serve as a disciplinary action, because he knew that there was not another way he could discipline me. He could suspend me from class, but I go to four other classes. he could make me do push ups but yet I would enjoy them more than anything. So. if you had a student that could not be disciplined in any of your ways, what would you do?
  5. A waiver can only do so much. Even with a waiver signed, lawsuits can still ensue, and can still be won. Especially in cases of negligence, and in a case like this, where the incident is cleary not an accident in training. How can it be proven that it was not an accidental training incident?
  6. Oh nice, sounds good. How do you like the style, does it seem to be something that you can soak in really well?
  7. Hmmm I will learn what ever I can be taught...And I am already a practiconer of kobudo. Been one for quite some time, I just want to know what everyone elses point of view on Kobudo and what the name means.
  8. Nice to meet you, how long have you been a practitioner?
  9. Bad Kidneys Tiger?
  10. This morning - Elliptical 2 miles Treadmill 2 miles Bicycle 1 mile
  11. True...but which one do you prefer is another way of me asking it. If you go and up shout Hamahiga no Tuifa...are you going to please the jap judges or the okinawan judges? Thats a big difference if your competing, alot of judges are picky over that..I know I am. If I hear tonfa they wont get as high a grade. I prefer Tunqua or Tuifa. Because it shows the heritage that the chinese left in the ryu kyu islands.
  12. IN that sense instead of becoming a kobudoka you become in an example a Practitioner of Saijutsu
  13. Purple Heart isn't so bad either, I have a purple heart Eiku and I love the weight and the density. Not sure how good it would hold up, because its so beautiful I dont let it come into contact with anything else.
  14. I think So as well. Thats why when learning the bo, they make you return to the base dynamics and mechanics of a punch.
  15. Ah Excellent wording. What do you propose is the true beauty of the weapons, in your own beauty?
  16. Juka is an ok brand, especially starting off. And the price wasn't to bad either.
  17. Alot of the ones that i go to, they have the black belts grade the others, so the black belts always go first, so that they do not have to wait and they can get it all over with and relax while they grade the rest. I would prefer to go last...kinda odd and weird...but oh well.
  18. What helps me with kicking combos is that when you kick keep your guard up and out a bit, so your center of gravity is tweaked a bit, and you can have a bit better balance. Not sure if you tried this or not, its pretty basic.
  19. What I dont understand about christian lifestyles and martial arts is that Most christians say that combat is against the way of god...but yet they believe that all christians will go to heaven and fight the armies of Satan using their own army and their own battalion...this seems to be a bit far of if they want to avoid war.
  20. I can only get about five of those in like 45 seconds...HAHA!
  21. Thats also good to remember.
  22. Oh...Well I suppose not. I think thats why my Hanshi Sensei makes people wear their white belt atleast 2 or 3 sizes bigger depending on how old they were when they start. When I first started training with him I was 9 and he made me wear a size 8 belt, haha. I think I would have fit snugly into a four...and I looked a bit odds, but now 10 years after that day its still a bit big...but when I weighed 275 it fit snug...now I weigh 168 and its loose since I wear a size 5 now...But oh well...I hope I dont get into a fight with a juijitsu master any time soon...
  23. I would only eat carbs before I work out like 2 hours before and I eat about 20-40 grams of carbs before I work out, then right after I work out and shower I eat about 50-60 grams of protein, plus a few snacks here and their. A good breakfast I eat before I work out is Bowl of cereal ranges from 20-50 grams of crabs (Oatmeal squares= 44 grams of carbs cup of light yogurt About 10 grams of carbs half a toasted english muffin (10 g carbs) Thats a total of 64 carbs Yesterday I lifted weights for an hour, swam for an hour and ran on the treadmill for an hour / elliptical After that I ate 15 oz of tuna = 30 g protein 20 almonds = 12 g protein one protein bar = 20 g protein = 62 g protein, and for dinner I usually just eat a turkey or chicken sandwich on a flour wrap, I get about 16 g protein from the turkey or chicken and only 17 g carb from the wrap.
  24. I dont pay for classes, I did at one time, but he I no longer pay. He doesn't really charge anyone alot...the most he does charge is 5-10 dollars a session that lasts 2-4 hours. But since it is not a business and if he were a bad person he could easily just say that a group of kids and young adults were roaming around his property.
