You are generally going to find that "older" people will not automatically respect younger people. Why? Because in this day and age, younger people don't really know how to show proper respect for their elders. Call me old fashioned, because I am, but giving respect first goes a long way. Having a younger person telling you what to do can be intimidating for someone who is considerablly older. Don't be jerks to them. Earn their respect. This may take the form of beating them at sparring or just by showing patience. The latter being harder than the former because most younger people lack patience in the first place. Take the moral high ground. This is just my opinion, but being probably older than you, I am probably also wiser.

self defense for preachers

Contact the Guardian Angels. They may be able to help with the problem. Here's the link:http://www.guardianangels.org/ If someone wants to come to my church and teach for free, I am more than willing to host. Contact me. I go to church in Lawrence, KS. Yes, we do have churches in this liberal bastion of the midwest. -
You could keep it on your computer and file share, but 3.5 gigs is way too big. Get a convertor program and encode it as an .avi file. This should cut the size down to something workable. Then post the file name and what file sharing program you will be connecting to, like Kazaa or Grokster or BitTorrent. That would be the only way I can think of for your to get free distribution of your video.

Man you are one lucky dog to find FREE teaching! I wish I had your troubles. I would love to be able to continue my training in a class environment. Good for you and reap God's blessings.

Christians and the Martial Arts

Wouldn't have a clue. Not much into Martin Luther King Jr. Too far removed from that situation I guess. Affected my parents more than me. I grew up believing that color doesn't matter. I tend to be prejudiced towards individuals not entire ethnic groups. -

I will have to check it out. Nonviolence is a good thing, but my understanding of Scripture is that justified violence or righteous anger was not forbidden. Turning the other cheek meant not to strike back for a small infraction of your person, but it didn't mean to be someone's punching bag or to let someone else be a punching bag. In our home we are trrying to teach our children not to bully others because they are bigger or stronger, but to protect those who are weaker than themselves. We are having mixed success. Christ was able to keep this perfect balance, I fail all the time. Good thing there is forgiveness. BTW, who is MLK? -
Yes it was.

Copyright seems to be the buzzword right now. I don't think it would be hard to prsecute if the happened to print that title anywhere. JMHO.

I pick Mr. Norris because I have read his new auotbiography and find him to be the type of person I would want to know and train with and learn from. I would also be learning his system of Chun Kuk Do. I would have to move and get a much higher paying job to train with Mr. Norris, and that isn't happening I learned about Steve Golden from an free ezine I receive each week from Keith Pascal called Martial Arts Mastery. Good read each week and he makes you think. Mr. Golden trained Keith in Mr. Lee's JKD and much more. Very practical information on self-defense and the martial arts.

I would think that Century MA would have some high powered lawyers to take care of that. XMA is trademarked.

That was incredible stuff. No matter what you think of "FLASH", you have to admire their dedication and athletic prowess.

I wear a pair of Discipline MA shoes. Lightweight, tough construction and lots of support to the outside of the foot. Good shoe.

Density Training: The Choice for Conditioning

Thanks for the article. I am currently undergoing trying to start-up a workout routine at home to go with my new dietary goals. I have lost a total of 16.5 lbs. My main concern is losing muscle mass as opposed to fat. Could you detail or list some good exercises for building muscle and burning fat. I have recently purchased an ebook by Tom Venuto entitled Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle. Very informative. Lots on nutrition and exercise, as well as, body typing and fat loss. He is a ntural body builder that compiled all the info in the book. Sorry, I ramble sometimes. Anyway, good article. Where would hitting the bag for 5 minutes straight with intensity fall in the scheme of things? -

What is your rank right now, if you don't mind me asking? -
Happy Birthday to you....Happy Bithday to you...everybody sing.....
-
Again, the title says it all.
-
You're very welcome. I'll tell my boys that the infamous Monkeygirl says Happy Birthday. (Two of my boys have birthdays 1 week apart.) Also, how did you know my son had a birthday coming up? Are you psychic?
-
I think the title says it all.
-
Happy Birthday late! And I can't answer your question because I don't know when you were born , but if you think you're 14 maybe you are. Man do I feel dumb. Need to read more often Slash what I said.

Aefibird, you are asking some good questions these days.

Everyplace I have trained has allowed 1st Dan or higher instructors to wear black trim. My last Dojang actually changed the color of embroidary on the belt to red, instead of gold, on instructors belts. It looks cool, but that is about it.

Yep, stripped of all fun.

You might want to check that scripture Chaz. I don't remember reading anything like that. Maybe I just need a refresher? Maybe not. Let me know what ya find.
