  1. A 5:30 mile is smoking. I'm lucky to be under 7 minutes for one mile. I usually run five miles just under a 9:00 minute pace. Keep it up.
  2. I just finished working out with a guy tonight that is working kempo with Jui-Jitsu. Another guy I train with has seven years in Judo and was a high school wrestler. They certainly bring perspective to the workouts. We do groundwork, but these guys bring a new depth. So yes, it would compliment your training IMO.
  3. Way to "dole" it out for Pineapple. Congrats
  4. Listen to Monkeygirl or hire a maid service.
  5. Nick Cerios Kenpo is the real deal. Well known for its street effectiveness, it is a Hawaiin inspired kenpo that is a Kajukenbo derivative. Nick Cerio was a well respected fighter and master.
  6. Definitely because it is well moderated. Patrick sets the tone.
  7. Yeah, I have a leather one with wood handles and ball bearings. No problems ever. No swoosh either!
  8. Bob Barker taking him on is classic.
  9. Welcome and I hope you start back soon!
  10. Be nice, don't be a doormat. There is a huge difference.
  11. Thanks for the read. I also run, though not to the extent that you do. It is important to work outside the dojo. I enjoyed the points made regarding shodan/nidan and above. I am currently re-evaluating my training regimen and your experiences have given me food for thought.
  12. Spray and Wash in cold water does the trick.
  13. Welcome. Is there a story to go along with the "Lip"?
  14. Yeah! Have fun and train hard.
  15. Can we make this a poll choice?
  16. Another technique that I like is a roundhouse punch defense where you do a knife hand to the bicep/upper arm and one to the opposite collar bone (or substitute this with a tiger's mouth to the throat). You step through and put in a leg sweep.
  17. I have never used a "double" in a real situation. One application that I feel to be legit is double knife hands to the arms of someone coming to grab your shoulders.
  18. Thanks for a great read. You have a well thought out article that makes some excellent points. Like I've heard and said before, training is a journey with many benefits.
  19. Here are some links detailing Bobo Mania! http://www.palmbeachpost.com/localnews/content/photos/bobo/ http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5426193
  20. Yes. You can do a google search on it. The owner, former B-Movie Tarzan, owns several cats in a area that is close to a now booming suburbia. He claims that someone left his door open.
  21. A simular event happened 5 miles from my house last summer with Bobo the Tiger. He escaped from his owner's house (someone left the door open). It was a media circus.
  22. I love to work out hard. I run, I sweat, I train, and I like it when I wake up with that "I know I had a good work" feeling. Sore and stiff muscles heal and become stronger, but sore and inflamed joints don't. I know the difference. I don't bang poles or kick 2x4s because I have to work for a living. I tend to think of "no pain no gain" more as a mental philosophy of pushing yourself to a limit and sustaining a high level of energy during a workout more than hurting yourself. Some of the things people do in the name of martial arts makes me shake my head. I want to be able to enjoy my retirement, not be crippled because I had to have tough shins.
  23. I don't know, that could hurt. LOL
  24. This part in the quotes sounds like a reasonable workout for someone who is 15. Bag work does not replace weightlifting, but will make you more rounded in terms of having strength, speed, coordination, and cardio.
