Welcome to KarateForums.com, I think I may be able to help you in your dojo search. I would suggest looking up the dojo mentioned below. This dojo is run my the head of the organization I train under. He is an 8 degree black and a wise and nice man, and it's a super traditional dojo, community environement! THe only think is that it is a goju ryu karate-do dojo. Anyways check it out and see if it is right for you, let me know how it works out, good luck. 3. lol The belts at the side will change when you make a certain number of posts, for instance you get the black belt avator after posting 1000 times You can change the avator under the belt in your profile (located at the top of the screen) P.S. If you haven't done so already don't forget to introduce yourself in our introductions forum.
  4. congrats karatekid, I am sure it was well deserved, can't wait to read it
  5. I agree SubmissionFighter. I really enjoyed Funakoshi's book, and many of the changes he made were to popularize the style in Japan, and also many of the deadly moves once taught to him had no place in his time, and should not be taught to shcool children which is why it was dulled down. He would never have got Karate placed in part of okinawa's school ciriculam if it was the same deadly art which was taught to him. The art needed to change to suit it's time period and the changing culture of Okinawa and later Japan. He may have began studying due to his poor heath, as he as a sickly child, but that is not why he countinued it, He fell in love with the art. And as for his one fight, it was not due to him not being able to defend him self but rather because he was a very humble man, whcih was shown throughout his life, specfically which he had to take a job as a gardener and sell all this cloths to save enough money to keep his dojo in japan open. So to me funakoshi was a hero, and admire the bravery and courage he demonstrated when taking upon himself the momentous task of spreading Karate to Japan

  19. I wouldn't concider it a planet, and I don't think it will become one in the further. It is way too small and way to far away. Just because it revovles around the sun does not make it a planet. THere are astroids and pieces of space debree larger then quaoar, they revolve around the sun and they are not conicdered planets. Altough this is some pretty interesting stuff, good post kicker

  21. We would generally kick from the hip in this situation, it feels rather uncomfortable to have to bring your leg all the way back to your ribs before kicking it out. I suppose you would get more power this way but it would also make the kick much more obvious
  22. lol, very nice
