  1. So I came up with an idea that each person gives a martial art tip on 1 post, you can do it in as many posts as you want, but just one tiop per post. any maybe make an article out of it when it gets big/good. i.e. 1. sparring: when doing a spinning kick of any sorts follow up straight after with another kick as 9 times out of 10, your oppenent will go for an attack straight after a spinning kick. and then, next persons tip, and so on.
  2. well i did, may have gave me a severly bad back for a while, but i managed it
  3. oh and my boxing is £3 a lesson, for just over 90mins
  4. does being able to lift my front end of my car count?
  5. i cant kick head height with side kicks. im not flexible, my stretching sucks
  6. 9 feb [might aswell make 1] power work with medicine balls. throwing them back and forth, throwing them above ur head, squats with them, movements holding them for punching. raw power work out: throwing them by flicking your arm, not allowed bending etc. just loads stuff. but damn im sore today
  7. oe ur eyes down... who said u have to face downwords to look that way?
  8. Now, before posting this I'd like to note that my friend, Andrew [the one who lost] had been told not to fight by his doctor due to ill health but the sportsman he is, he fought anyway. Personally I thought it was pretty sloppy and not his best, but here are the three rounds: round 1: round 2: round 3: Andrew: Blue trousers
  9. i hope i do. thanks for reply
  10. watching someones eye can be the most distracting thing when sparring, as in my case, i look past the oppenent with 1 eye to mislead him. as for where to look, i always watch the legs and feet as 9/10 you need to move your feet or legs in a certain way to do a decent punch or kick.
  11. but i'd also say, society in a whole is quite niave
  12. haha thanks for comments, as for set up steps, i never do extra steps as it makes the oppenent more aware of the kick coming: explosive actions ^^ yay
  13. Three words: Dillinger Escape Plan. Some Tool works well for that too, or the more technical Cryptopsy stuff. If you don't require guitars, the more aggressive Aphex Twin and Squarepusher stuff works too. Tool are my favourite band ^^
  14. living to die, dying to live. train hard, fight easy
  15. self protection: be able to know when you are about to be attacked and being able to a) get away b) protect yourself with violence or other means self defence: defending yourself against an attack
  16. and most importantly... good luck and have fun
  17. i started training TKD when i was 6, but quit at yellow belt [wish i never] i then got into a low in my life and started boxing as a way to relieve stress by hitting punch bags. i then got into boxing alot and heard about a kickboxing class near me, and started, that got me into karate, and the rest is history
  18. muay thai, no kata at all. sparring, kicks, punches, elbows, knees mma: all round stuff, no kata
  19. i've did it before, but i nothing amazing lol district 13: martial arts and free running combined. great film.
  20. in a street fight, i'd probably kick the side of the knee, buckling their leg over... that'll stop it
  21. Okay, so i've noticed as of late that when practicing certain kicks im better at the 'most advanced' versions. hook kicks: i can do a far better 360 hook kick than a 'static one. spinning back kicks: i just cant do them, but i can do them jumping, or with a front foot sidekick to set me up. axe kick: the only way I can do these well is jumping. I dunno if thats good or bad, but, can anyone give me tips?
  22. there would never be a 'perfect' style... only perfect to the martial artist themselves.
