  1. Well , I see most of you think the same. Good ideas. Thanks I would touch them with my open hand first to see what happens....If the thing does not change, I will talk personally with each guy...that sounds good Talking to the shifu directly to change the way of training could be taken as a lack of respect....Who I am to tell a guy how to train in his own gym ? I can tell the crappy guy in front of me...but his fault may be a reflex of the instructor fault.... I train there because I like Forms and the lower positions in training,they are good....we also do some especific situations and scenarios....Also,this instructor is very good with chinese weapons , and that is the primary thing I wanna learn there. I was very exited to return....but I see a lot of holes in the training way, also lot of good stuff. Is obvios the lack of combat in this school. That is why I droped it when I was 14.That is why I´ll still doing Kickboxing sparring in other gym....
  2. Yes , I have a gripper ( I didnt know the name ....so I called the A shape thing) Thanks , I will try that brand. My gripper is kinda girls stuff...too soft , is one I bought in walmart for 10 bucks
  3. I got a problem. At kung fu gym.....people in class , normally do sparring w /o gloves. That is not the problem in fact...but after years of KB and boxing I am used to hit if I see a hole, not thinkin in consequences ( I know in my own flesh that with gloves DO HURT , but is not the same) Those guys, move fast (faster than I) , I am not a very fast guy (t more stamina and strenght that speed , for sure.But not too slow either) , but a conservative fighter and a better counter-atacker than atacker .I could hit them easily most of times in thier faces when they come...and I STOP my hand in the front of the guy´s face...but they still doing their atack..... With bruce lee face expression ..... If we were using gloves , and that hand would landed in that face.....the atack wouldnt continue on that way, I am sure.... But I can not hit them. Last time I grabed the leg of some guy and took him down to stop that atack , but...the floor is concrete....and people looked me weird..... So what would you do ?
  4. Well.... I do lift weights since I am 16 , I am 21 and grew up a lot , in size and streght . I have not problems with power in any muscular groups , but my Forearms. I can lift about 140 pounds or more with a bar , sitted down with the bar on my knees using my forearm.That is not so bad for my 180 lbs weight I think But my problem is , I DO NOT HAVE MUCH strenght to squeeze .... I mean like when you shake hands. In that case....I am not weak...but not much more strong that a average plus guy. I ´ve noticed that many big people with big hands , that never lifted a weight in their whole lives , have more strength than me at that poing. I can hold something I grab ( example an arm when training MA) and is hard for mos guys with I train to release. But I repeat..I dont have that strength to squeeze .I think could be something genetical....My wrist is thin ( comparing to my arm) , and my hands are not very big.... I ´ve tried holding 20 kgs (45 lbs aprox) disks , longer as I can.... I bought that Grip with ´´ A´´ shape. I tried hanging in the bar for long time.... I did several different forearm exs. at gym... And just minimal improvement
  5. Creatine is an aminoacid that help you to train better , and get your muscles regenerated.Is not bad , but is not magin.... Proteins in market...are the same that eating much beef , milk, cheese and/or eggs....And are nasty. Steroids DO really work , but they are illegal in most countries...and you have to kwnow how to take them or with a doctor..or you could have several problems.
  6. Man , you wil not be an Arnold shawazenegger in 3 months. The plateu is a common thing , and is obvius that after training for some time , you will be in that situation . You have ASK your gym coach and tell to change your exercise routine , to work your muscules in different angles. Doing pull ups and push ups is great , but you should still with weigth lifting , one thing does not exclude the other. The aminoacids like musashi....are pure comercial thing ...like the enegy bar of Homer simpson when climbing the montain..... is better to eat well and balanced. well..... If a ´´big guy´´ can not do 40 push ups , is a big fat, not a big guy
  7. Well . I would not drink before training too,because I´ll get dizzy , or dumber. I have readen that Aikido and several japanese MA don´t allow that as an Inflexible rule

  9. Hey...about 6 week I back to kung fu training after several years doing others MA ( I made some post about that ) . The people of the dojo ( kwoon) is not the same people. Just 2 persons from the old time. When I returned...I have my old rank...and many people look me badly , and Kinda competitive. I was told by one of my friends that the tuesdays before class , some intermediate/advanced guys meet in another floor of the gym to do some sparring and semi hard combat. Today I was late , and they were fightin´upstairs. I talked to a guy , and asked if I could come next tuesday before class , he and other guys said yes...but kinda forced..... Of course next week I ´ll meet em . I think that the sparring , will be not sparring , but is OK . People behaves like territorial apes...and the only way to get respect...sometimes is showing that you are though. What do you think ?

I was watching natgeo channel , and they had some kung fu monks who put a spear in the floor , and then pushing with their torso against the edge.They did not get hurt , after that , another guy pushed (much more) the guy against the spear , again and again . Other monk was pulling a truck with a rope tied to his balls ( of course camera put some blur) ...seriusly. Somo monks said that they manipulte chi to do that. Was amazing...and does not look like a cheap trick. If it is a trick , is awesome.
  11. Well , aften the ego hurts much more than being hited. As many guys said here...Sparring and losing is OK . When I was involved in boxing , I use to ´´fight´´ with a guy who was 2 heads taller and 100 pounds heavier , and with more technique than I. At the begining , he kicked my butt .Months later , he still with advantage...but I could hit him severals times , and had more a fair sparring. Sparring with people who is superior in combat , make you strong. Keep triying , and do I again , against that dude. You will get better . And you will notice it when you do sparring with a more ´´normal guy ´´.
  12. You are very wrong.......A guy who goes to gym every day and train hard, may be uber strong.....I saw body builders doing bench press with 500 pounds , isn´t that strong ???

  14. Oh I used to play in a power metal band...... I like Stratovarius , sonata arctica , some edguy , helloween.... Malmsteen.. When I use to live in the US....I was looking for a band..and I just found guys playing nu metal and grunge/trash.... Power metal is not very popular in US right ? I remeber at senior grade..one rapper told me : eeeehh dude, what are you hearing? I told him , Rhapsody ! And he told me....uh , white guys crap! I ve only seen guys with Metallica t shirts., korn, limp bizkit. And with lucj an ACDC or motorhead one.

  16. Well , as a guy with Spaniard roots (half spanish , half italian) , and spanish heritage. I would say that In my country our cowboys ( named ´´gauchos´´) used knifes derivated from navaja ( and pretty similars) in one on one fights to dead. One fighting technique is covering your left arm with a blanked/cloack/etc and use it as a shield...the other one is to carry the big knife and fight.... You also may like spanish sevillanas
  17. Yes , I ´ve seen on Tv Thai boxers reciting mantras and things like that...but the kick boxing I ´ve learned is much like western thing ( obviusly with the heritage of technique). At least here , in my country ,Thay box , kick boxing and full contact are teached w/out spiritual background .
  18. Some people says that alcohol alterates the chi/ki , and for example.... in aikido is forbidden as far I know
  19. Two things 1-When you say Big , you mean tall ? mean heavy ? or tall and heavy ? A lot of tall guys are like long worms...so.. 2-I think that a guy who does powerlifting seriusly , is very strong. I saw two guys lifting a car .... And I see in my gym very strong guys that can break my chest with a finger.And I am not a skinny boy. Technique may win strenght. But you need TONS of technique to defeat a young hulk hogan.
  20. Many Martial artists . I think that western disciplines are MA , like some of you agree. Yes. And I have seen many good wrestlers fighting like apes in street when I was living in Minnesota , that did not use their good wrestling skills .
  21. Is ok to be pride. But some people is too proud , and that´s what happens with my sifu. Kung fu is an awesome MA ( for me) , but as other MA , lacks in some points. That is why I like to do other style. As far I know kick boxing ( like boxing) does not have much philosophie , just to win the opponent with strenght and/or technique. Maybe the problem is with some principles in kicking....The kickboxing uses more the hip - I would like to practice Kung fu more aften , but my college schedule doesn´t let me and my shifu gives 3 clases per week ( I lose one class per week being at college class). So I am going twice a week to Kung fu and one to KB...also do body building and swiming. I try to practice forms when I am alone , and do the best I can...I ´ll traing like a beast in this summer. I am waiting for hollydays ( remember I am under Ecuator , so we got spring now )

I had a puppy collie once and a big german sheeper atacked him..so I faced the enemy dog to defend mine, and kicked on it´s head, the dog did not fall and atacked me again and again ,and I moved in circles to don´get caught.... I didn´t get hurt , but fighting a big strong dog may be a real problem. about a minute later...the dog´s owner ( a drunk) called the dog several times , and the animal slowed down .I called the police because that jerk had his criminal dog without a rope , going alone on the neightborhood.And they took the dog to analalize it...the animal was pretty sick , I was lucky------- I do hate hit an animal...I am friend of the dogs..in fact when I walk on the street I pet any dog close to me...
  23. I got 10.8348.No big thing IF the average is 5-8 , it´s because the average strenght is based on people who do not exercise I think. I weight 190 lbs , bench about 260 and I am 68,5 tall , 21 years old. But I think it´s not acurate...It only focus on your pecs...and there is people who can lift 1 ton with legs... And the power go up is you are older....It´s not suposed to be in the other way? If a guy is 17 years old and lift same weight , with the same height than one of 25...They 17 YO dude is stronger.... Is like those weight tables.. I am suposed to be ´´ overweight´´ , but my overweight is fiber/muscle overweight. In those tables , The pro body builders would we obese.
  24. I feel fear and I am curious about death at the same time. I am sure that there are a lot of things behind this ´´ ilusion´´ or material universe. And if you look the nature , you may see who perfect is the creation and all the beings do something to preserve the armony in their life works. The existence of life if not casuality , and we are here to learn. And I am sure that there is some really powerfull dude behind all we can se. Doesnt matter how you call him , god , Jesus , jehova , Buda , Krishna..
