  4. good luck dude. just focus. dont worry about anything else, just the task at hand. also, dont get too worked up about the test before you take it. just relax and if your senseis are as good as you say they are, you should be fine
  5. wow. thats unbelieveable. the sad part is, people will buy into this stuff.

  7. hey guys, i have a question about making a website for my school. my school is fairly new and im afraid it might close down if my sabumnim cant make enough money to keep it running. i talked to him about making a website and he said the only reason he hasnt made a website is because he isnt that great with computers. the problem is... neither am i. but im willing to give it a try. i was wondering if any of you know how i could start up my own website. and i mean simple. i dont need none of this swooping in, 3-d, sound effects and an interview with jackie chan. lol. i just need a way to get my school recognized. i just need basic info about hkd and tkd. you know... basic things that people would want to know about my school. i was just wondering if any of you guys knew where i could find an easy starting point. TY
  8. wado ryu is the least physically demanding out of the three you mentioned. all your options have roundhouse kicks incorperated. that leaves chito and goju. go check the classes and see who is the better instructor. also, go check out the wado school also. you might find that you like it. wado is pretty much shotokan karate mixed with jiu jitsu, so you might find that grappling is very fun. there would be many tournaments where you would be able to grapple or spar in so dont worry about that.whether the tourneys are open or specific, you'll most likely be able to compete.
  9. no no no. my sabumnin teaches us TKD and HKD. he would not let us train anywhere else. he is very traditional and only teaches korean arts (besides weapons). he believes that the korean customs and tradition would be lost if we trained in another art.
  10. easily take him down with an armbar or a quoto gieshi(spelling?)
  11. congrats on the belt. that is an interesting style you take. its pretty cool at how low the number of dojos there are.
  12. thanks guys!! its nice to hear all the nice compliments!
  13. my school is a hapkido/tkd school so i think most of the striking comes from tkd, but, there are many kicks and strikes in hkd too. as these arts are both korean, there is much more kicking than hand concentration, but hapkido has some hand techniques. i'd say if you were looking for striking art with a little grappling, a tkd school would be your best bet because they usually teach a little hkd with the tkd. but, if you want more grappling and self defense than strikes, hkd would be better. i am not saying that hkd has few strikes. im just saying that it emphasizes on self defense more than striking. in my school, the tkd side takes care of the striking. both emphasize on kicks more than punches though. if you are looking for an art with more hand combinations, than a chinese martial art like wing chun would probably be your best bet.
  14. i had to go through my poomse, my 3 step attack, self defense, gun defense, knife defense, upper block, lower block, inside, outside, and middle blocks, front kick, front side kick, fron round kick, back kick, spinning back kick, pray position, falling, choke defenses, leg and arm grab defenses from the floor, arm bar, count from 1-10 in korean, reverse punch, walking stance, full contact continuous sparring, point sparring, back fist... i definitly forgot some things but thats the bulk of it.
  15. im SOOOO happy. i just recieved my 8th kup in Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido. just wanted to vent out my happiness.
  16. lol... nice
  17. congrats dude! tell her to keep up the good work
  18. yes. my old dojo was like that. it seemed that they wanted stamina more than whether or not you are punching and kicking correctly. personally, i dont like that. i think schools should focus on whether your techniques are good, not count to see how many times you can do that technique in a half hour or so. i am not trying to bash your school, i am just saying what i think about that testing system. as long as your school corrects you and makes sure you are doing the techniques right, then you should be fine. french fri25

  24. hey guys, i found an awesome site of pretty much any martial art in the world, where it comes from, and some basic principals about them. its a really kool site and i never even heard of like half the martial arts mentioned. also, i suggest you all read the choy li fut section. there is a pretty kool story and tells why choy li fut is actually called choy li fut. just thought it was an interesting site and i thought you all might like it. french fri25
