  1. i can understand the colour being uniform either all Black or all white or even mixed but I think everyone SHOULD have the same uniform Consider this: Football the Montana Revellers or whatever the Football team is called turn up on the sprts field some are wearing Black pants some are wearing White, some have the Home Team shirt on and some have the Away team shirt on. does this look good? Same as in the Dojo, someone visiting for the first time sees unorganised array in the uniforms i think it the rule is that then that's the rule, The Instructor is incharge NOT the students OSU!!!
  2. OSU, Was your Shihan one of the many Kenpo schools that transitioned over to Kyokushin in the 1970's & 1980's as I am sure I can see the Generic Kenpo badge on his left side of his Gi. OSU!!!
  3. Both solid posts from JusticeZero and Ueshirokarate, I can't any more to this, OSU
  4. No THIS should be the test in the martial arts science programmes instead of the fighters using different kicks it should be this one. I think its all down to preference. There's pro's and con's for both variants.
  5. I wear glasses but my students know when its a sparring night as I got my contacts in, lol
  6. They don't have this style in the UK as far as I am aware, Welcome to the Forum
  7. ......... a fire orange or banana yellow gi .......... I wanna a yellow one, pleeeeeaaaasssseeeee!!!!
  8. Oyama Sosai would, if he was still alive, OSU!!!
  9. AGREED, SONNY CHIBA WAS Japan's answer to Bruce Lee and he is a genuine Shihan in several Japanese arts including Kyokushin and Ninjitsu
  10. If there is a heavy bag you could use instead as there's padding and you can hit it harder
  11. I prefer a white Gi, but that's just me. I would like to know where the Black Gi came from too. I know that Ninjitsu clans wear black Gi's so wondering if Kenpo/Kempo is part of the lineage of where Ninjitsu came from as I read that Ninjitsu had a Chinese heritage NOT Japanese as considered prior
  12. Try Yoga!!! it really complements Martial Arts flexibility
  13. No I don't, because they will have this belief that they kn ow something invincible and when it doesn't work for them if they ever needed to use something guess what they'll say "Oh Karate/Jujitsu/Kempo/etc doesn't work because of A, B & C" Not because they themselves couldn't spend the time learning the stuff properly etc like we all did. I tend to say something like "Waaaaaah Waaaaaah Waaaaah" if someone says show me a move etc or do a dance move etc as its not worth the hassle OSU
  14. OSU!!! Welcome to the forum, and welcome to Kyokushin. well what you need to do is not to worry about what to do in a self defence situation as you can read all the books, attend all the seminars but nothing will prepare you as to the best way to react. Your Kyokushin training will definately give you all the tools you need , it will condition you to give and to take hits, it will give you a presence which will in itself be an ora of confidence which should (not always guaranteed) put off most possible assailants just concentrate on you training and if it happens just go with it OSU
  15. agreed, I tell wherever you point the knee that's where the kick will land
  16. I had this conversation with my students on Thursday
  17. I would have loved to have trained with Kancho but I'm not a Shotokan Karateka so how would he use his Karate to explain mine OSU!!!
  18. Solid Post!!! or it could reverse due to the final World War 3 where all electronics were destroyed etc by Radiation and we went back to a Middle Aged existance!
  19. yeah, i used to train in a Social Club, Renting the Events Room. so we got drunks a few times. I always managed to get them back out the door without any issues. OSU
  20. OSU!!! but I prefer the White Gi!!!
  21. It takes more of a MAN to walk away from a fight than it does to stand and confront. You did good, I remember a time when I had an ex-landlord who decided, I broke his boiler and wanted money from me (this was long after I had leeft his property) I refuse to pay as it was completely fabricated, he turned up at my DOJO (bad thing to do) demanding, infront of my students, I asked him to leave, I wanted to but didn't annilate him, but I stayed calm and my assistant instructor moved him out the door, not seen him since so I don't know what he said to my ex-landlord, lol.
  22. I've not tried them myself, but if you're doing the series, would you mind doing like a partial training log / review on each for others interested but not done it yet from getting good advice from you
  23. OSU you have found the spirit of Bushido! Welcome to the brotherhood. We and you Sensei and Sempai will always be here for you to answer any questions AND look forward for you to carry on when we get too old etc OSU
  24. I don't see how belonging to a country is relevant or fair, Martial Arts has no boarders, no divides just brotherhood in Budo, this has saddened me friend
