I think i would also go with the good school, sometimes there may be times when you dont particulary click with the sensei but that doesnt mean you wont be taught well.
-
Yes i am with you now, but that really surprises me because almost every student who has a black belt in our club has their name on it in japanese
-
Surprised you never heard of it orion, it's part of the 26 shotokan kata's, think its a 1st dan kata
-
Cheers for that info. I had no idea there was one on the a6, i know the area very well. I'm not in manchester exactly, im in stockport, which is not to far.

I really like this kata, i was working on it on wednesday night in training. The parts i am particulary having trouble with is the start bit where your arms are outstreched like your holding a bo or staff, and the end bit too. But i did particulary like the kata, i just need to master it now. So anyone got any thoughts on the kata?

Yeah they are, sometimes the kids that commit crimes can be worse than the adults. Kinda sad really, and they can be tough places.

Very good Kirsty, but i'd rather NOT have my two front teeth, or rather have new ones...i hate them

Orion i'm not sure really although i have had lots of experience with this. I have a large family in South Wales, and although there is no love there what-so-ever we have'nt fallen out. The atmosphere is kinda strained. Hopefully the festive season and spirit will make things easier between you both, just be yourself and be happy. Good luck!

It's so sad that Adrian has died, is his son not in this one? Sounds like a great movie just like the rest of them, do you know when it's coming to the uk Kirsty? -
No he's not Japanese, but i'm not sure what you mean?
-
Where abouts and which one's? I know of one in manchester at piccadilly. Thanks Brandon for that info, i think i am leaning towards a kamizaki gi.
-
Brian why not go get your 3rd dan with Brandon lol. Yeah i agree with your statement Brandon...about being humble to be able training.
-
Hi there and welcome to the forums. I am in agreement with you to a certain extent, the politics side of things i'm not really interested in, and i'm affraid for the history i'm not very well up on that either. I have read a little but i'm not brilliant with it. Belts, yes i like them and i like the system in the way of the gradings. I just go to lessons and train hard and wear my belt with pride.

Sounds like fun Brian, my ex partner worked in something similar only she worked in a young offenders.
-
Yeah Brian you do that hun, sounds nice, you could have a party or just snuggle on the sofa with with a good DVD. I've still not had a phone call or email from him, it's not fair his dad should have allowed him to call me by now, it's been since monday and we are now on thursday. I'd love to know what he's doing right now.

Aww Laurie, sorry to hear about your car, that sucks, so glad i only have a bike. I think we all need to do a deal....since the lottery is being mentioned a lot here..whoever wins it first has to pay off all our bills for a year...oh and buy laurie and new car

Sounds great guys, it will be after christmas now because of funds but i just wanted to check some out. My sensei's is a kamazaki gi and it's nice, anyone ever heard of that make?
-
Thank you Jiffy and Brandon thats exactly what i was thinking, it's nice you understand what i was getting at. I have worked so hard, and i have seen the dan gradings in our club and if i pass mine then it will be with pride. I mean now wearing my brown and two stripes is an amazing acheivement to me and if i could i would enbroider that too I spoke to another instructor the other night about having sensei's name on my belt and he thinks it's a really nice idea and gesture, but he also said mention it to sensei first before going ahead and doing it, which is what i was going to do first anyway. I am going to have a brilliant black belt and i will wear it with pride, that won't stop me from training hard though, that'll never happen!

Sounds great but it's a good job he didnt punch you one People can be so funny with their cigarettes. I know i was when i smoked, when someone hid them, or snatched one out of my hand when i took it out of the packet. Excellent tho, i hate it too now. Brian's right painful if you had missed shows you have good control even when showing off

Yeah for sure, i'll bring the money with me..

Hey guys there has probably been posts about this before. I want to buy a new gi. My gi that i'm using is getting tatty, it's very lightweight and made by empi. It cost me £20 at the time but i dont really like it. Now it's gone very 'knobbly' with washing and also i don't like it because it always comes un-tucked from under my belt. Can anyone suggest a good heavy-ish gi that won't un-tuck? What weight is best, i know they come in ounzes but i don't want the heaviest. Also i like the one's where the tops come down longer. Any suggestions? Kez
