  1. Even throwing stars were only meant as a distraction. All a card would do is make somebody mad.
  2. I hope you have an occupation where a criminal record is not a liability.
  3. Do I get to hit him in the head during the free week of classes? I think their "40%" is confusing correlation with causation. I have a few theories of what causes the reaction in his students only. "You hit me in the head!" That's funny right there. I don't care who you are.
  4. Combat Sports had a few items on sale a couple of weeks ago.
  5. There is a proper method of getting back up. Clearly staying on the ground is not the way to go if your opponent is on his or her feet!
  6. That's good advice.
  7. 3 seconds is quite a long time for a martials arts "move." I find it difficult to respond to the post in a manner that satisfies the TOS.
  8. I believe it is unwise at best and foolish at worst to attempt to create a new style of weapon on your own. It sounds like a good way to lose a limb.
  9. X Box seems to aim at the older crowd with more mature games. Nintendo is the younger crowd & it has more "signature" games that the other consoles don't have. PS2 is in the middle. My 14 y.o daughter would pick the gamecube.
  10. Before Ninja Joe was Joe with the Kung Fu Grip!
  11. Get out or hit harder. It would seem like a situation where even the "winner" would get beaten badly.
  12. I think you already know why. Stopping smoking will have a huge impact.
  13. I can't think of how arcing your back backwards would be bad - it's used for low back pain to stretch you out. I'm not sure I understand what you were doing, however. Back problems are complex, and are prevented by some combination of... Abdominal strength Back strength (deadlifts, good mornings, rows) minimizing stress good posture in lifting heavy objects good posture at all times Good luck
  14. My brother had four out & ate dinner that evening. He had no problems at all. It can go smoothly!
  15. Playing for about 4 years. I have an Alvarez acoutstic & a Mexican Strat. It's another expensive hobby.
  16. Running is just about the best cardio, outside of jumping rope, which most people have trouble doing for 20 to 30 minutes. Run until you can't carry on a conversation (or sing your favorite tune), then walk until you catch your breath. Do this 3-5 days per week, at least 25 minutes per day. Muscle building also helps. I've read that muscle burns more calories, & so helps your metabolism. Bench press, squats, deadlifts, chin-ups, rows. Best of luck. You are off to a great start.
  17. Large amounts of salt does not cause high blood preessure. Large amnounts of salt may kill you if you have high blood pressure. As said before, all things in moderation.
  18. It's a great demo. I have no doubt that if you tried to grab his shirt you'd end up in a world of hurt, also if you tried to run at him & grab him with your hands. However, I have not seen Aikido demos yet where the uke was trying to run in & clock the practicioner, or against a sparring partner in a boxing/kickboxing stance, or where the uke dropped his shoulder & tried a linebacker-type takedown.
  19. The "salt is bad for you" thing is a myth. There is no scientific reason for salt reduction in otherwise healthy people. Here is a good writeup on it. http://www.junkscience.com/jan01/saltwars.htm
  20. That's a good story. Thanks for sharing it.
  21. Salt is only bad of you have another medical condition, especially high blood pressure.
  22. I believe angelmahso means judge. We need the name of the style you are referring to and if there is an organizing group.
  23. I found an "Shinkendo" Dojo near me & was looking into it. It has an extensive Non-disclosure agreement, which basically says you can't talk about it to anyone. This seems to me a bit excessive. Anyone have experience with agreements like this? http://www.atlantabudokan.com/materials/ISF_AB_KTRR_Non_Disclosure_Agreement.pdf
  24. Well deserved. Your name came to mind before I saw the results.
