You should really ask an accountant.

The boxing/sparring stance is going to be the one that every style goes to in a one-on-one match. I see the basics as being used against an unskilled attacker as a very strong finishing blow.

Free weights will be generally better, but there are exercises you would be unwise to do by yourself at home (bench press). Some free weight equip can mitigate this risk.

Aodhan says it well. There is no right answer for diets. Scientists keep coming up with new findings. A study a while back found that almost all diets worked when followed, but hardly anyone can follow them for long. The amount of exercise & type of eating required to actually lose weight & keep it off requires a whole new way of living for most people, which is why so few people can take off weight AND keep it off.

Uniform way too big and glossy.

You might shrink it too much. Just try drying it first, then go to washing on hot if it's still too big. Then do both. It'll keep shrinking each time. -
My brain.

If it's all cotton, wash in hot water & dry on hot. I wouldn't try it all at once, tho. -
That video has already made the rounds. It's a scripted act used to make a point by a rival style. Karate, and in fact most martial arts, will serve you well in an unexpected attack.

This has nothing to do with a "sense of humor." It has to do with the person's ability to see people as individuals, not as groups. I would confront the person directly, tell them in no uncertain terms that it is not ok to talk or make jokes like that. Only by confronting people can we hope to change wrong behavior.

I worked with my 10 y.o. son a bit before his yellow belt test, but I think he saw it as meddling. I decided to let him fail the test if that's how ready he was (he did pass). At some point, I think you have to let them learn their own lessons. I will say, tho, that this is probably a complex relationship that you 2 have, especially with you at a higher rank.

I can only tell you about my Goju Ryu school, but it is: Lots of physical training (I believe this is typical). I like paying for a lot of physical stuff, but some do not, preferring to get this at another place. Basics I think are not too different from Shotokan, mid-level basics move to soft blocks (wax on - wax off). Kata are important, & my favorite piece. Every other class is almost entirely sparring, mostly light contact. Our sparring is entirely out of the "fighting" stance, or what mostly looks like a boxer/kickboxer's stance, with the front foot turned in for groin protection. You can google wiki Goju Ryu & get the background. GojuRyu.net also has a lot of information.

Good luck! My college search was many, many years ago. Don't give up.

This is off-topic, but I had the worst McDonald's meal of my life in Huntsville, Texas.

Having someone throw one into your gut supposedly helps you take a punch. The problem I have is that they're expensive & multi-sized. It's like buying a set of dumb-bells.

Certainly some organizing body could make this rule. It would also be easy enough to check out if you had a specific body.

"Respecting" techniques in sparring
TigerDude replied to bushido_man96's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
If it is a standard at your schools that there is a momentary pause, then you should confront those who do not do so. Hitting someone harder just to prove a point they may not get anyway seems childish. As for expecting an acknowledgement, why? You know you scored a good technique. It doesn't seem realistic to me to expect a real opponent to stop after you hit him or her. Even coming from someone with no teeth, a counterpunch can still hurt. -
Fees are a separate topic from handing out belts. How much a school charges has nothing to do with the quality of instruction. Life is about choices. Pay a high fee or don't. Giving out belts means that you will not really know how good you are. You can try your best, but what is the gauge of your success?

It's just a magician's trick. Really.

Again, if you can prove that Chi/Qi/etc is anything other than body mechanics, go to https://www.randi.org & win a million dollars. I have not yet seen any proof that the physical manifestation of chi is anything other than physics. The hard-to-dimensionalize penetration does not immediately make sense, either.

Iron Forearm?

Internal/external - it's all body mechanics. If it helps you to visualize power as an inner energy flow, fine, but it's really just simple physics.
