  1. Unfortunately, every little movement with my leg beyond that of a short walking step makes it feel like it is stretching! It is feeling a little better now, though. I am still nervous about trying it, however.
  2. I would guess so. I haven't done much conditioning lately, but I can break boards with the top of my foot. It bruises up real good right after the break, but then it goes away by the next day usually.
  3. Two years.....man I hope not! I am pretty stubborn about sticking with my routines, so I will have to force myself to take it easy.
  4. Welcome to KarateForums, Empty_Hand!
  5. You see, that is what they expect. You have now become so self-conscious about losing your keys that you do more than you normally would to keep them nearby, instead of putting them and leaving them in their normal places. By getting out of your normal habits, you will be more likely to forget them somewhere, and then, bingo!.....self-fullfilling prophecy!
  6. Keep up the great work, Kez! If you really want to get an idea of how much you are saving, take the money that you would use every time you would normally by cigarette materials, and then put it aside, in jar or something. Then pull it out and count it at the end of the month.
  7. I'm a Dr. Pepper guy, myself! Coke is my #2.
  8. You did specify Olympic TKD, but I just wanted to point out that they probably began by learning a more self-defense oriented style. And I also see what you are saying about comparing apples to apples, and makes sense.
  9. The Gracie Self-Defense book is a different philosophy from the other books, and from what you normally see of BJJ, because the most covered aspect of the art form is its competition. After all, the UFC competition is what made it famous. Therefore, it would appear that it is sport. However, the art does have much more to offer, and if you were interested in learning self-defense scenarios, then I am sure you could learn them at a BJJ school. I think some make the same assumption about Taekwondo, because the only exposure it gets is the National/International competition. You can still learn good self-defense at these schools as well.
  10. I have heard that it is ok to talk to yourself; you just don't want to answer yourself!
  11. I am supposed to have my regular weapons fighting day with my friends this Friday, and I have been frustrated because we have missed out the last 3 weeks, and I'll be danged if we are missing this week because I have a bum leg! I think I'll be hiding behind my shield quite a bit.
  12. It is just my hamstring I pulled. It is a little bit better today, with not doing anything and a lot of sleep. Still tender, though.
  13. Yeah, I have considered a few titles already. Too bad the new movies out aren't on DVD yet! There are about 3 I want to see in the movies now. However, I do have a nice collection to choose from.
  14. After 13 years of martial arts participation, I have acquired my first torn or pulled muscle, resulting from class participation. I am so frustrated now!! I was just starting to get excited about some new training ideas and philosophies, and I was beginning to get an idea of how I want to define myself as a martial artist. I was going to have my brother start working with me on some Hae Sul (Korean Bunkai) applications, and now, poof! I know I won't be down forever, but it is just so frustrating! And the way it feels right now, I don't think I will be able to kick for a year without risking a pop on that muscle. I just wanted to vent. Thanks for listening. If you have anecdotes, inspiration, other funny stories, or anything to add or offer, feel free to drop it in. Gracias, all!
  15. and i'm not just making it up on my own either (like i ever would ), i've got an actual instructor who is familiar with navaja work, and am picking it up with a bunch of mutual friends. it's a blast so far. That's good stuff! Enjoy your training, and keep us posted about it!
  16. Mr. Norris made those rules so that the most striking action can occur within each round. It's for the fans. Let's face it, the amount of time it takes to actually do something interesting from a mount in the UFC is too long and it's boring. Although I do like the action of UFC and Pride, I would like to see something more along these lines. I like the stand-up action in boxing, and this would be a much faster paced kickboxing atmosphere. I also like the town-team set-up. It should make things interesting, and set up some nice rivalries.
  17. Although I would probably root for Snipes, judging by Rogan's experience, I would probably expect him to have the edge. Does Snipes have any competition record? How did this challenge come about, anyway? I have heard this before, but only a little in passing. Did someone say something to upset the other, and thus the challenge, or is it just a friendly match?
  18. Welcome to KarateForums, DONO! I know that there are at least a few other Chun Kuk Do members hanging around, so you aren't totally alone!
  19. Injury updates: Larry Johnson was diagnosed with a strained neck, and it looks like he will be in the lineup on Sunday against the Steelers. Nickel-back Benny Sapp, however, will be out at least this week, and perhaps longer. In response, the Chiefs activated a young DB named Michael Bragg. The big news is on Priest Holmes. He is working out currently, albeit not at a game playing level. Coach Edwards has not heard from Holmes for a while, but said that he expects him to contact him soon about his status on playing. The Chiefs have until week 12 to put Holmes on the active roster or place him on injured reserve. I really hope they activate him, and that he can comeback and contribute. Although it seems to be Larry Johnson's team now, Holmes can still provide a boost to the offense. Imagine a two back set, with Holmes and Johnson in the backfield...yikes! It would be a defensive scheming nightmare. And finally, one of the stalwarts of the Chief's defensive line over the past two seasons, Lional Dalton, has been cut. He knew his time was coming, because he doesn't really fit into Coach Edward's grand scheme of things. He is just not his type of player, and therefore has been replaced. Too bad, really; I enjoyed Dalton's intensity, and he played very well, even when the defense was bad the last few years. KC at Blitzburg this Sunday....should be fun, two hard-nosed defensive units going at it. We'll see if KC's offense can step it up this week.
  20. I have a brother who plays. He is a touched obsessed, I think.
  21. I am not too high on the idea. I would have to see it to believe it.
  22. That's a pretty blade there. Are you getting structured instruction on how to use it? That's pretty cool.
  23. That's quite entertaining!
  24. Shamrock has not been very competitive for a while now. I didn't see this fight, but it sounds like I didn't miss much. I don't think age was too much of a problem for him, but his attitude. Randy Couture was pushing the same age during his last fight, but he was still a threat.
