I was just reading a post about San Soo in an other forum.I beive they said san soo came from kempo(ed parker's).Jimmy was a student of ed and later changed the name to san soo..
Me to when I hear the term Wu shu I think of #2.If I hear traditional Then I think of martail art for fighting.Wu Shu has San Da but that has rules and everyone fights the same meaning I can't tell what style their fighting. It's like some generic MA.
Both seem like good schools.I would try both and see what you like better. Both schools come from the Yip Man linage and both are traditional WC schools.
I've never enterd an organized competitive tourniment, but I like to mix it up with other schools and styles from time to time.If you have other MA friends you can test your stuff on them. That's the way I like to do it.
in my opinion its almost a waste of time to try to learn Chi Sao from a tape. You need to learn it from someone how knows what they are doing.Chi sao is very complex and you can make many mistakes unless you have someone to correct you.The most important elements can't be learn from a tape and or seen on a tape.
