  1. Hey kid, I'm gonna treat you like an adult. Hwoarangs flash kick isn't nearly as good as forest or Marshall Law's flash kicks. You know, how they do two consecutive ones, first low then high, to jugle your opponent? Anyway, I have found a kick which is pretty good for sparring and is kinda flashy, is pick up your front leg like your gonna front kick, then as you jump, pick up your back leg and do a rear leg round kick.
  2. I thought the argument was grappling vs striking, not grappling vs striking vs a guy who does both.
  3. I would suggest either weightlift-do or calestenics-jutsu. j/k, but for someone with that little strength, definately go with an art that revolves around technique. That pretty much means Aikido.
  4. Oh boy, here we go again.
  5. Monkeygirl, why did you quit MA?
  6. I was wondering about Mas Oyama's triple arial kick. What three kicks were used, and in what order? Are there any video clips of someone doing it?
  7. Your talking about a flash kick, karate kid. A bad * move.
  8. I voted Shorin-ryu, but Kyokushin would be my second choice.
  9. Why not?
  10. Wow, I can already do a half of a one handed pullup.
  11. I have upped it to 50 pullups spread throught the day.
  12. I try to get 5 hours a week in the dojo, and I would say that little training will impede your progress, if you don't mind taking the slow route, go for it. While your at home you can practice what you have learned so far for about thirty minutes a day, so while you won't have a broad selection of techniques, you will have mastered what you have learned.

    Sanbon zuki

We do them every once in a while.
  14. I have just been doing three going down to lockout at the elbos every time I go through my doorway, and now Iv'e gotten strong enough to hold my self with one arm bent at a 90 degree angle, but not get myself going upward.
  15. I'm trying to get my pullups up to 30, and get the ability to do a one handed pullup. Anybody have any good workouts for that kind of thing?
  16. You can probably get past a drunk now, but watch out, they can take hits. Anyway, I do Shorin ryu, which is similar to shotokan, and it has done alot for me. You will probably get a good grip on finding applications around your second year.

    I'm crazy

mine is around 24 for a five k (3.1 miles)
  18. I haven't been in NHB I have been in real fights. And I wouldn't want gloves.
  19. If I was going to fight a grappler, I would want to go bare knuckle. I am not saying it isn't good to learn grappling, I learn Okinawan Karate, which is about 50/50 grappling/striking. I'm just saying It shouldn't be your sole objective. (to go to the ground.)
  20. I agree that you should do both. I'm just trying to make the point that UFC favors grapplers, and so the ufc is not grounds to say grappling is better or diss striking styles or whatever.
  21. He won because he was better at fighting. If he was not better at fighting, he would have lost.
  22. I don't need to look at history, they are strikes no matter who uses them. Royce won because he was better at fighting than his opponants. And the bites, my point is people would not want to get in close as much, if they enjoy health. As for the throat shots, they may not be easy to land, but it is possible... and devastating.
  23. Warp- Yous still have not provided a single valid reason why MMA favors grapplers. other than your WWF "spear" tactic. WE are talking about the floor being an advantage for grapplers, If anyone is going to get takendown it would be the "striker" since "strikers" prefer to stand up and strike. thus there is no way in any takedown the floor would give the grappler an advantage. These are the rules. UFC rules, as approved by the Nevada State Athletic Commission - July 23, 2001 Weight classes: Lightweight - over 145 lbs. to 155 lbs. Welterweight - over 155 lbs. to 170 lbs. Middleweight - over 170 lbs. to 185 lbs. Light Heavyweight - over 185 lbs. to 205 lbs. Heavyweight - over 205 lbs. to 265 lbs. ^^ Back To Top ^^ Bout duration: All non-championship bouts shall be three rounds. All championship bouts shall be five rounds. Rounds will be five minutes in duration, with a one minute. A one-minute rest period will occur between each round. ^^ Back To Top ^^ Fouls: Butting with the head. Eye gouging of any kind. Biting. Hair pulling. Fish hooking. Groin attacks of any kind. Putting a finger into any orifice or into any cut or laceration on an opponent. Small joint manipulation. Striking to the spine or the back of the head. Striking downward using the point of the elbow. Throat strikes of any kind, including, without limitation, grabbing the trachea. Clawing, pinching or twisting the flesh. Grabbing the clavicle. Kicking the head of a grounded opponent. Kneeing the head of a grounded opponent. Stomping a grounded opponent. Kicking to the kidney with the heel. Spiking an opponent to the canvas on his head or neck. Throwing an opponent out of the ring or fenced area. Holding the shorts or gloves of an opponent. Spitting at an opponent. Engaging in an unsportsmanlike conduct that causes an injury to an opponent. Holding the ropes or the fence. Using abusive language in the ring or fenced area. Attacking an opponent on or during the break. Attacking an opponent who is under the care of the referee. Attacking an opponent after the bell has sounded the end of the period of unarmed combat. Flagrantly disregarding the instructions of the referee. Timidity, including, without limitation, avoiding contact with an opponent, intentionally or consistently dropping the mouthpiece or faking an injury. Interference by the corner. Throwing in the towel during competition These favor grapplers. No biting. I sure wouldn't want to grapple if I thought they would bite off a chunk of meat. No throat strikes. No downward elbows. No kicking the kidneys with the heel, and no headbutts. I wonder why so many strikes are not allowed? Because they have more destructive power. The next question your likely to ask is where did I get these rules? right here https://www.ufc.tv click learn ufc then click rules. And also, grappling does mean rolling around on the ground, cause if you are doing standing grappling, wheather it be a striker or a grappler, you will almost always end up on the ground, do to the offbalancing of the pushing and pulling. sorry about the long post, but this thread is about to get locked, and I wanted to get my say in.
  24. The sad thing is, I don't think this guy is kidding.
