If you are working on a split routine, work each muscle group once a week.
-
Take you body weight in pounds, and that's about how many grams of protien you should get in a day. Other than that, just make sure to get a ton of total calories.
-
No, I am 150 pounds with like 8 pack abs, so I'm saying 14% is pretty low. Bruce Lee was at 8%, and he was ripped to the bone. If Shorin Ryuu is at three, he is way beyond anorexic. Are you sure your at 3 percent? I am at 14 according to electrical impedment tests. What kind of test did you do?
-
Shorin ryuu, do you know Gojushiho? If so, how internal do you think that Kata is? I should be leanring it within the next 6 months.

I have done Gymnastics, go in shorts and a t shirt/tank top. It just has got to be comfortable for a lot of movement.

Cross Training: Is three to much to handle?
Radok replied to Mu Ryuk's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I would drop the Escrima and take wrestling. It would make a better mix with the Tang soo do. Three would be too much to be great at all of them. -
Should full-contact Karate be an oylmpic sport?
Radok replied to supacoopatroopa's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I think if Karate goes to the Olympics, it should be American full contact. If it is point sparring, Karate might go the way of TKD, and that would suck. -
Tae Kwon Do vs Karate.

Chuck Norris was the first non-Korean to earn an 8 dan in Taekwondo, wasn't he? -
MT or boxing
Radok replied to Hairydog's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
No, if your in a street fight your fighting against an untrained attacker. That means he is not going to have the ability to knock a muay thai fighter down 80/90% of the time. If we were saying Muay Thai against BJJ or something, I'd agree. -
Bruce Lee was at 8%. That gives you an idea at what ten is like. I am at 14, and I am ripped. There is no need to go below ten.

This routine is not what I use to gain strength, it's only for mass.
-
I have an unusually fast recovery time, as well as a mesomorph body structure. Maybe I should have mentioned that.
-
Wow, you don't know these exercises? You must be really new to training. Which exercises do you not know on this list? I will tell you how to do them, and what muscles they strengthen.

Come on people, fess up. Who chose "it's the wave of the future" on the poll?

Monday Bench press 8-12 reps 4 sets Incline bench press 8-12 reps 2 sets Dumbbell flys 8-12 reps 2 sets Military press 8-12 reps 3 sets “Nose crushers” 8-12 reps 2 sets Wednesday Deadlifts 8-12 reps 4 sets Curls 8-12 reps 4 sets Pullups 3 sets to failure Good mornings 8-12 reps 2 sets Upright rows 8-12 reps 2 sets Friday Squats 8-12 reps 4 sets Leg curls 8-12 reps 2 sets Jumping lunges 25 reps for sets Calf raises 8-12 reps 4 sets Leg extension 8-12 reps 2 sets That's my bulking routine. It will give you fast growth, as long as you eat right and sleep enough. It should go without saying that in order for you to bulk, you have to eat a ton of food.

But since they're working at a fast pace, shouldn't they produce much more lactic acid, thus causing more muscular pain than squats or pushups? Following you logic, muscular endurance cannot be worked separately from cardio endurance. Guess that elliminates the need for any type of enduarance work aside from swimming, such as callisthenics. Quite correct. However, the slower you work the muscle, the less oxygen they require, thus the less stress on the cardio. You can work on your leg endurance by walking 20 miles a day. That will require considerably less cadio work than running 20 miles. Running involves the largest muscle group in the body working at peak capacity, requiring a large amount of oxynated blood, requiring the heart and lungs to work harder to supply. Push ups require a fraction of that energy. Competitive swimming involves both legs and arms muscles, and the accompanying increase in cardio, without the nasty effects of pounding the ground with every step. Darn it, that's what I said in the first place! I said running requires more cardio, while swimming works on muscle endurance. You than said that is not possible, but now you say it is.

I have a weighted vest. It goes up to 1OO pounds. I am going to make arm an leg weights to go with it, and I got a good idea on how to ghetto rig them with stuff laying around the house rather than buy them. What I am planning to do is get a bunch of knee socks, as used in soccer, and fill them with sand. Then, tie the open end to the closed end, forming a loop. Finally, wrap it in duct tape, so no leaking occurs. This way, and can make 20 or so, for only a few bucks, and they are probably about the same quality as store bought ones.

I am surprised that you do Kung Fu and your instructor doesn't have you using jow, that is the fastest way to heal bruises. Aside from that, a way to speed the process is by getting in the shower, and alternating hot and cold on the damaged area. Put it as hot as you can reasonably stand it, followed by as cold as you can stand it. This alternates the capillaries from dialated to constricted, and helps move out the stagnant blood.

Yes, Kyoshi Perry is the best I've ever seen. He really knows the groundfighting and internal aspects of Karate, largely unknown. I might be going to his camp this year.

Something I've heard
Radok replied to Shorin Ryuu's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
I know an extremely traditional kung fu master, and he says most of the high level masters have immigrated to the states. -
NO! he beat me to it. I wasn't going to comment on it, until I noticed it said not to.

Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate.

I know eight drunken immortals is a specific form, is it a style all to itself, or does your above post apply to it as well?

Right here. Who's your sensei?
