the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are usually the ones who do. - unknown when your dad is mad and asks you, "do i look stupid?" dont answer him. - Heather, age 16 if quitters never win, and winners never quit, who came up with "quit while you're ahead?" the early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. -anon.

I THINK KATA IS USELESS BECAUSE THE STEPPING MOVEMENTS THAT ARE ENTAILED WITH THE PUNCHING AND KICKING ARE NOT PRACTICAL TO WHAT HAPPENS IN A REAL STREET FIGHT in a real fight, people are gonna hit you repeatedly gouge your eyeballs, scratch knee elbow spit in your face and so on..........one hit will not stop them

has anybody here fought sport jiu jitsu before? im kinda interested in it.....there is a sport jiu jitsu tourney coming up and i think im gonna go and fight. i have good stand up kickboxing skills and decent ground skills so i think i could do well in it the rules are: punches and kicks, throws and 10 seconds on the ground

leading with cross--common or not??
Prodigy-Child replied to CTpizzaboy's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
well obviously you are not gonna lead off with a cross ALL the time.......but most fighters always expect you to lead with your lead side, when they are conditioned to that aspect then thats when you can lead with your cross if you got a good cover you will not have to worry about your opponant countering you -
Anyone play any musical instruments?
Prodigy-Child replied to three60roundhouse's topic in General Chat
i wanna get some turntables but i just cant find any anywhere! -
well each of those combonations are used for different distance lines i usually always set stuff up with my lead side and once ive established that i start faking and lead with my cross and so on leading with a cross is very common
-
if you are gonna have to hit somebody......hit the biggest guy first with your hardest shot......when the other guys see him go down they will think twice about taking you on plus stay on your feet, when you hit the ground and there are 4 guys there you are done for another thing is.........punch one guy a few times then automattically try to move to the next and the next with everything you got

ass strength goes a long way!

try to work some good combo's now the three basic fundamental combos that i learned when i began was jab - cross - lead leg roundhouse cross - hook - rear leg roundhouse jab - body hook - head hook - cross try to make it a habit to always enter and exit with a kick

you know its common sense for ****s sake! dont walk around alone in the middle of the night in a bad neighborhood........thats just dumb and as Iron put it people make themselves victims by the things he listed!
-
well that is traditional kumite there we are talking about regular old point karate that seems to be really big in the states and canada
-
c'mon deby, say what you were gonna say.....we are all friends here! anyway if i were with a girl and guys were whistling at her id be happy then id start making out with her right in front of their face just to make em' jealous!!!!! i wouldnt go and start up a fight!
-
i hear you Iron. very well put! point fighters dont really hit, they just tag you.........all it is, is tag if you think about it
-
if i have the hots for a chick then i am gonna be all charming and stuff,,,,,,,,there is this one girl i like and i would be that way but she is a kickboxer too so i dont really have to worry about her to much.........that doesnt mean i wouldnt stick up for her in a fight........but more now a days i do not feel the need to show alot of charm to girls because im too busy trying to hook up with this girl

but still if i were one of the shumacher brothers racing for the finish line and fighting for 1st i wanna see a damn checkered flag!
-
point fighting tactics are good but only in point fighting. alot of the guys i fight continuous and full contact with are from point fighting backgrounds and they told me they had to unlearn alot of the tactics because it was hurting them in the full contact arena, they would be fighting and they would land a really good cross or a good side kick and they would stop because in the back of their mind they think that its gonna stop but it doesnt, they ended up getting rocked........they told me it took them about 2 years to un-learn......
-
for the folks who are into Formula 1 racing here..........i was pretty damn pissed about that brazillian soccer player Pele or whatever his name was forgetting to wave the checkered flag as Micheal Shumacher went through the finish line at first and his brother Ralf Shumacher came through second. what was this dude thinking? he was just gonna stand on the podium over looking the finish line and just wave to people? there are some stupid people in the world today!

no, i cannot do a full splits and ive fought guys who can do full splits and ive beaten them.........it does help though leg strength is key though, i know one sensei who cannot do a full splits but his leg strength is so developed that he can put his leg where ever he wants to

i was flipping through one of my old issues of black belt magazine and i came across this article it had a range of people from different diciplines such as karate, taekwondo, jiu jitsu, kung fu and thoughts from frank shamrock and some other ufc fighter discuss if it is better or worse to wear shoes during training and fighting traditionally i feel that you should train barefoot and not bring the dirt from the outside world into your dojo - just outta respect. also if you are grappling it can give your opponant some grip if they are going for a leg bar......but at the same time they can protect you from getting a ankle lock slapped on what do u people think?
-
my coach happens to be a black belt in karate. he got it when he was about 14 years of age. he himself was a point fighter up untill the age of about 17 when he took up boxing..........he then later started kickboxing on his own. he knows the competitive fight game VERY well and is one of the best kickboxers in the world. he just does not feel that point fighters are real athletes.... point fighting is one thing......kickboxing/continuous sparring requires a higher level of physical conditioning
