i like the toehold, it is extremely painful, but i would use this in a friendly ground match. if in a real fight i would definitly go with the RNC or guillotine -
very straight forward, mix of shorin ryu, tae kwon do, ju jitsu, muay thai, and kempo. lots of hard contact. lots of conditioning. very powerful art, can be very easily used in the street. but isn't flashy so its not very good for competitions

testing for Brown Belt(3rd Kyu)
unknownstyle replied to unknownstyle's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
the full name is Neshamat Elohim Yad Reyqa, which means "God Breathed Karate" -
well if you have large hands you should go a little shorter, about three inches is the most i'd say
-
snap kick to shin, jab to throat. sidekick to knee, stomp to ribs(only if your in real danger) if youve been pushed against a wall break ribs with a reverse punch followed by a groin kick. if someone reaches to grab you, groin kick as they step in. if some one throws a reverse punch, step at an angle towards them and throw a knee right into their ribs

does anyone here know that they work extremely well as a grappling weapon. the problem for most is that they do not shorten the rope to the correct length, therefore making them harder to control. by the way, if yours are the correct length the rope should be no longer than the distance across your knuckles

my teach is about 6' 2" and 300lbs and is solid as a rock i have seen people hurt their hands hitting him
-
our version of the kata is very different and has alot more to it, it is also alot more straight forward

i was test from 6th kyu to 4th after being a sixth kyu for a little over two months. i watched the higher ranks do there forms all the time and picked up on the quickly and my teacher said my technique was far above level. i didn't know i was double testing until he told me to do the other forms required for 4th kyu

Bill "Superfoot" Wallace is like the best i recently did a seminar with him, it blew me away

i know all the below: Pinan Shodan and Nidan Matsumura Bo shodan and nidan Seisan Wansu Nihanchi shodan and nidan Ananku and my next two will be Ananku sai and Passai

handing out belts is bad either way you look at it. it took me a less than a year and a half to make 4th kyu. some people would say i had my belts handed to me. but my teacher has no reason to hand them out to keep me interested, because i have never paid him for a single lesson. so it all depends on the situation.

i think i prefer the weapon thats in my hand when the attacker comes at me. have no training with kama or tonfa, alittle with sai and nunchaku, and a good bit with bo. so my best bet would be the bo

wood and cord, but the rope on mine is shortened for joint locks and easy manipulation

4th kyu, double tested a month and a half ago

Hohan Soken knew 114 kata, and was proficient. maybe not in all but you can take aspects from a form and apply them to your fighting and make something good. the way i look at it more isn't less, don't just stick to one thing. crosstraining is the best way to keep yourself open minded about it

i got mine from "the Book of Five Rings", i just liked what it said. and im really against those schools that you sign a contract saying you'll make blackbelt in two years and will never get hit. i believe you need to earn it not have it handed to you on a silver platter, and if you want a blackbelt that bad save the money that you'll spend at the McDojo and buy one for 10$

PASSED RANK TEST

good job, what kyu is that? -
my sensei would hold you back if you couldn't get them high enough, but he also doesn't ask for head high kicks. but to test for your first rank all basic kicks must be belt high, but he may have exceptions in some cases
