  1. Just curious, what kind of kempo are you practising that you can surpass higher ranking students? If you could afford it then I would say take both, if that isnt a reality then I say go to the one where you think you'll learn the most. And if your already a good kickboxer that improving your ground game might be the way to go. As for loyalty, I shop at Wal-Mart all the time, but if I find a better deal somewhere else Im gonna shop there. Your paying them, if your not getting what your paying for then dont shop there.
  2. Bruce also hung out with Ed Parker quite a bit and in Parkers books he made mention that Lee's stance was weak so one can only assume he picked up some kenpo concepts along the way as well.
  3. I only downloaded a few videos and emin was just crazy fast with his hands and takedowns. I have a few if your interested I could send them to you they arent like instructional or anything but they do show his speed and technique, PM me if interested
  4. *whew*... my mom putting those presents out at night....ludicris
  5. David "The Crow" Louseau(sp?) Has been studing a little TKD so its not to far fetched. That guy is a great fighter with some crazy high kicks
  6. Matt Hughes is a monster on the ground. he's probably one of my favorite fighters, but Iceman is #1. Im not sure who else they will get to compete against chuck unless they get wanderlei or Quinton Jackson [/img]
  7. Ya know the sick part of that statement? I have a pair of thoes babies! My wife was rolling on the floor..........and so was I. "gimee your best shot.....sweep.......wack!......not bad, again." The peter pan comment is what got me rolling on the floor
  8. I thought I would bump this up due to Liddel's DOMINANCE over Jeremy Horn. Just goes to show that Chuck's striking can take out a top fighter such as jeremy Horn. War Iceman!!!
  9. he wasnt kidding, he build some contraption out of plywood that held boards in place so as to simulate movement of a target. It was an interesting video, I showed it to one of my training partners today and he was surpised at the guy's power, and technique.
  10. That sounds really cool on that site. Let us know how it goes
  11. "You think anyone want to take a roundhouse kick when im wearin these babys?"
  12. that was hilarious! But no wasnt like that at all
  13. "Grab my wrist" I do that to people all the time, it cracks me up. Like I said before I think black belt is an intermediate level and that 10th Dan should be the ultimate goal. Not that it isnt a prestigious award, I just wouldnt put too much emphasis on that. In other words dont stop there, you got alot left to learn! "no my OTHER wrist"
  14. I have seen all but 1 of the kata he performed. He did 4 in all and 2 of them where brown belt katas for sure, and then he did his version of Shodan which everybody knows. BUt I understand your position, if you ever run across it check it out its funny to hear him talk, that alone make it worth watching
  15. Yeah, I read that one. Then i scrolled down and found another site that says its legit and they are selling his DVD for $30! I dont know if its worth that much but like I said the stuff he does is pretty cool and does alot of advanced katas as well as explain his technique on breaking boards.
  16. Well, the stuff he does in the video are pretty amazing. I just have no idea who he is
  17. Has anyone here heard of a Okinawan master named Nodan? I teacher got his DVD in the mail from a friend of his and he loaned it to me to see what I thought. In the video Nodan breaks several suspended boards then walks you through centering principles and such on how he broke them so easily. He even teaches you how to make a homemade Makiwara. Its kind of a strange video and the guy's accent is weird as well as the production on the video (which give 4 disclamers on not doing these without a professional) So has anyone heard of this guy. His DVD is titled "Centering Technique:The Five Principles" I just want to know how credible he is because I cant find anything on him nor have I heard of him before. BTW, he didnt give a last name
  18. I agree with everything but this comment. My instructor doesnt spar with us now and hasnt sparred in a long time due to knee, shoulder, and neck problems. I dont think that makes him an ineffecient instructor
  19. Thats the problem that uneducated fans of mixed martial arts have though- they see someone who's labeled a "striker" and easily defends against the clinch attempts of someone who's labeled a "grappler" and assume that its just that easy. All of these fighters are excellent in all ranges of combat and have had extensive private training by top professionals in each area of expertise. These guys have people like Randy Couture teaching them the basics of the clinch and Chuck Liddel teaching them the basics of the striking game. These are guys who are pros in those areas and havent just been exposed to it. I was under the impression that clinching was a muay Thai/boxing/kickboxing technique not a grappling technique.
  20. I love Seisan, great kata
  21. oh ok,I guess I have to over to the store and buy it,but then again I need to save my money for when ong bak comes out.I didnt even look at the options! cool, When is Ong Bak coming out? I really want to buy that too
  22. I pay right at $50 a month. Since I help instruct I have no belt test charge.
