  1. I don't belive in it and I don't like but with that siad my front kick is about as high as my head so 6ft maybe a bit more. LOL Even O I don't like I do respect it and I would love to do it for show anyhow. LOL
  2. Welcome glad you found the site. Sambo is the MA that the USSR used for its army correct?
  3. Dee I may be reading into this a bit but I assume you are a gril. I am betting the person you are talking about is a guy. Thus I assume he is flirting with you. When such cases come up in our class I usually take care of it in sparring. Much like Sai was talking about. Talk to your teacher first!!!!! I hate attitude and disrespect from blackbelts more than anything, It goes aginst everything karate is about.
  4. Hello and welcome glad you finally said hi.
  5. Although we are no longer members of the JKA I would have to say Ray Dalke is still the one we consider to be our top figure.
  6. When I first started Shotokan we had about 5-6 Balckbelts in class. When I made blackbet was sort of the high time of that Dojo we have over 10. When I quit giving public lessons last year we had one regular and one or two that I would see once a month or so. I have never advanced anyone to black belt myself. My first student will be readey to do so by this winter if all goes well.
  7. Ok Baseball Yankess and Reds Football Dolphins Basketball Anyone playing Phil Jackson team Hockey Rangers NCAA Football WVU or anyone playing ND NCAA Basketball WVU
  8. No question MA or sports in general is a great out. Lets you relax and burn off the negative energy.
  9. Last night at about 3am they had the Noth American K1 fights. M. Smith who won a UFC or 2 won it. I was up all night again. LOL.....
  10. When I was comming up my Shotokan ranks we had classes all the time 1 2 Hr class on M,W, and F, and 2 2Hr classes on T and TR. So basically 14 hrs a week in the summer. I could not make the mourning classes in the winter cause of school. However most schools only teach about 6-10 Hr week here. No one does it to make a living at just as extra pay and fun.
  11. Guten Tag Don't know if I spelled that right Its been 9 years since I had German as a Soph. in HS. LOL. Good Day none the less.....
  12. I got Kazaa and its great however I think mine may have a bug becasue when I use it after about 30 mins I cant use AOL or MSN IM anymore. It likes goes crazy. SHould I downlaod another copy and get rid of mine or is there another problem?
  13. Well Im not in that boat I don't think I have ever been depressed. I mean no more than death of a loved oner, break up, etc would cause. I always look at the glass as being half full. Have faith things happen for the best. Always find the good and there is always good. If all else don't work buy the CD of Men Without Hats and play Saftey Dance over and over you will feel better no question. _________________ (General George S. 14. V. Putin the president of Russia is a black belt in Judo. I really don't care what walk of life our leaders come from as long as they are there for the people and not special intrest.
  15. Better go to a Dr. knees are the one thing you don't want to mess with. I would guess based on what you said you have tore ligaments. However Im ot Dr. but you better get it looked at ASAP.
  16. (Shakes head and smiles) Im glad you all got to this before me. LOL.
  17. Im a snake Oct. 1977. I looked this up once before I think I am a Fire Snake but Im not sure. I do think the guidelins arround the Snake and Libra in the Zodiak do fit me.
  18. I was going into other sections looking to see if someone double posted and I responded in another place. LOL
  19. I guess I missed that point. However I still don't know about the idea that kicking is faster. O well to each his own right. LOL..... I do not compete so I really can not speak on that. As far as the snap back goes it serves a few things. 1. Make the kick sting like a whip 2. Stop the trap or catch which lead to the sweep. 3. To attack the persons arm if they try and catch. 4. Let you change and shift between differant kicks. 5. blaance in general. 6. To protect your groin or stomach from counter attack. Those are the ones that came to mind.
  20. LOL thats good. Again Im not saying it can't be done because nothing is impossible but at the same time if it could be done they would be MANY cases of it arround the world.
  21. No question the light sabor fights in all the Star Wars films.
  22. No question I began karate to help me become a better football player and it did. It was one of the big reasons I went into Education. I had taught a few of our youth classes by the time I had finished HS. Tie that to my love of history I felt teaching was my calling. A lot of people have trouble speaking but because of karate I never had that problem in school because I had been doing it for a long time in karate classes. Also taught me ways to handle people of differant learning styles and ability. There is no question that is shaped the person I am now.
  23. I too and a Shotokan guy and both of you are using that traditional ONE PUNCH ONE KILL idea. I agree if you can connect with one of those big kicks or punches you can KO someone but the fact is landing a clean shot is hard to do. Your kicks should have a stong recoil on them. To kick and keep balance is much more important than to risk missing for a KO. If you lunge into everything you are going to get your leg trapped. Most tournments won't allow trapping or catching the leg but in real life your in touble. _________________ (General George S. 24. This may be one of the few times I take Bon's view on non traditional arts. Im sorry those moves you talk about covering so much ground is going to get you killed. Its great for kata and practice but it WILL NOT work in a fight IMO. This is why Thai Boxers are such good fighters. This is comming from one of the more traditional people on this site.
