  1. I know it as an L-Kick, too, but I'm not a break dancer LOL. Anyways, Check out this site https://www.bilang.com There's a lot of good mpegs, and "how-to's" on this site
  2. paolung, I don't know the difference LOL. I don't know much about Chinese MA. Maybe I should research it .... mmmmmm.
  3. I use Pro Force uniforms. They have the elastic waistband and string. They stay up pretty well, except when we do throws LOL.
  4. Hapkido for me. It's pretty much well rounded on it's own. It teaches a bit of everything. But my next art is going to be Kali, just because it's offered at my school.
  5. I hope you ment Austin Tx. I found a boat load of places: http://www.martialway.net/about.htm This one as a few MA's in their school. http://www.swshaolin.com/ This one is Kung fu. http://www.uctaekwondo.com/ TKD http://www.kenpo-texas.com/index1.html Kenpo http://www.texastaekwondo.org/ Another TKD place. http://www.pkckarate.com/ Another TKD place. http://www.geocities.com/jang_sul/index.html Amix of Hapkido and other arts. http://allfightingarts.com/vsdc/main.asp A Kempo school. http://www.santamariaskarate.com/ Jhoon Rae TKD http://www.firefist.com/ Kung Fu http://www.centerofmartialarts.com/ Tang Soo Do and other stuff http://taijilife.tripod.com/home.html Taiji http://www.atanow.com/ ATA TKD And there was many others I found without websites. There is a pretty good choice of MA in your area. What I would suggest is checking out several schools and see what you like/are looking for. Tai Chi helps build knee problems from what I hear. I am a Korean MA geek, so I donno much on Tai Chi. But I hear it's good for the health. I may try it someday for my knee problems. Try out free trial programs that many MA schools have, and see what you are comfortable with.
  6. I want to wear black pants because I'm female, you know ..... the "time of the month" thing. Other than that, it really doesn't matter to me what color my uniform is. It's all white cause I'm a color belt in TKD. I do have to say that I like the TSD uniforms with the white top and black pants I kinda wish I still did TSD for the fact that I would get this type of uniform when I got to black belt
  7. My school does Judo type stuff. We learn a lot of self defense. I think it's a good mix, in my opinion.
  8. We are working on stopping the bashing here. I surely don't tolerate it. I stopped going to some forums because that's all they do, and I'm sick of it. This one is more open-minded than most forums. We do get the "trolls" but we try to put a stop to them right away.
  9. Hey, welcome. Martial arts made me give up music, but I'm slowly working on getting back into it (playing drums and guitar).
  10. I learned three in a month and a half. Kicho 1 - 3 in TSD. TKD I learned one. TKD MDK, I re-learned three, and learned one more in a month.
  11. It's called a kip-up. There's another name for it, but I know it as a kip-up (I'm a rookie trickster ).
  12. hehehehe nope. My instructor "ruffed" me up a bit today, but I took it and smiled
  13. I train at home when the urge hits. We (my honey and me) have kicking targets, a punching bag, rebreakable board, and we just got an air shield. We often do forms and just technique work at home. It's hard for me to do throws at home, because we don't have a mat and he's not good with falling. I don't do joint locks often on him, because he hates them done on him LOL.
  14. I love it. Ok, I'm crazy, but I can actually see and feel the move being done. Joint locks and being thrown hurts a bit, but I suck it up and go back for more LOL.
  15. No, just for self defense. My honey and I mock spar each other, though. We both do MA, so it's good practice
  16. I recommend Jujitsu or Judo. They go well with TKD and karate. And welcome to the forums
  17. Hiya. I'm going for my purple next week, so I know how ya feel Good luck.
  18. Ummmm TSD isn't sport (not the way I learned it anyhow). That is more of a TKD thing (WTF). Anyways, each art has their "sport" side, if you like that kind of thing.
  19. I found two schools in your area (that had websites, that is). Check them out: http://www.unitedkyokushin.com/ This one is Kyokushin karate. It seems ok from the website. http://www.nhtkd.com/ This one is TKD. They have two week trial thing if you want to check it out.
  20. It ok Everyone has done it at least once, even the mods
  21. There is an orange belt in my school with a big head! She is in compatition with me for some odd reason. I didn't provoke her either. But I have been training a hell of a lot longer than her, so I can't wait till she's allowed to spar
  22. I like Tae Kwon Do Times better. But I have a subscription to Black belt mag. TKD times is mostly Korean arts, and good articles. But Black belt has more range of arts, and good pictures (techniques). I like to read about (or research) other arts, so Black Belt is good for that.
