Many of my black heavyweight gi's come outta the wash with some "gray" streaks.....it's all good in my opinion, never concerned me much. Speaking of Shureido, I just bought a black one yesterday, and I plan on washing it in hot H20 and drying to shrink it before I have to alter it.....that's why I like to buy my gi's at least 1 size larger than I normally wear.....it's all about comfort

For those forum members who are interested in stocking up on some karate uniforms made by Shureido, Tokaido, and Toyo, https://www.dojowear.com is going out of business and offering 10% discount on all uniforms in stock with free shipping. You can go to the website, however do not make any purchases via the website as it will not process the 10% discount, and come Jan. 8th, the website will no longer be functional. All their weapons have been sold out as of the time I ordered my Shureido from them this morning. If you have any questions or want to place an order, you can contact one of the owners at linda@dojowear.com P.S. The website does have a size chart for your use.

It is always difficult to know if a studio is a "Mcdojo" with no direct contact with the place. I suggest that you contact anyone of his past instructors to see if they recommend him and his dojo

That is why it is so important to understand body mechanics/body alignment. I think this is done so much more by "feel" rather than by visual effect. Many times the student has a more difficult time understanding the "feeling" of a punch or kick. Just my 2 cents

Go with the heavy, more durable and will last longer -

Usually like some have suggested, keep a hold of their arm to control them, plus the quickest follow-up would be a punch. Target area depends on the rules of the tourney, or availability. If you could also consider dropping a knee, but that may not ne allowed in a tourney. As for kicks, stomps in my opinion is the most effective.

This was the last phone number I had for them awhile ago: 1-800-230-2653 I think they are out of Florida somewhere. They do not have a website I know of, and when I called them last, they only dealt in bulk wholesale purchases. Hope this is of some help.
