I am a 2nd degree red (2nd Keup) in Youn Wha Ryu.

If someone said that about my instructor..i'd just shrug it off..why cause a scene? He has his opinion on your sensei..you know the truth. Yep..no need to worry about it.

wow that is really interesting! In our sytem when we reach black belt we get certificated made by Grandmaster Han himself, and it has what # black belt you are in the system, and my instructor said when he tested for black it was like # 345 or something then when he tested for 1st dan it was less than that, then when he tested for 2nd dan it was even lower! So i guess that shows how many people actually stay around and progress beyond black belt.

Yeah..my instructor knows a little bit of fan fighting and I am getting fans for my bday and he going to teach me what he knows...I think it is so pretty to watch at tournaments so I want to do it!

Well i have a small collection..haha! B/c I just started weapons and never liked em before till now..but i have: 1 Cane 1 pair of foam nunchakus 2 pairs of wooden nunchakus 1 rubber knife i got from a hapkido knife fighting seminar I am working on getting fans, and a sword

I started teaching almost 2 months ago, and the white belts we have in our class are progressing VERY good! They are testing October 21..we have 21 students and the majoirty is going to test! That is going to make my day to see them test and get their yellow belts!

I train in AR (which has tons of MA) but I teach in MO..which also u know has TONS of MA!

Yeah we do that too...that is a lot of fun! We get to get up there and teach and one of the black belts will start acting up or get out of there front stance and start asking if they can go to the bathroom or they raise their hand and say I GOT A STORY or they go and kick someone while we are doing forms..lol! Its fun!

The only one that we use would be Choon Bi and Kiai

Wow 8 hour days...whew! Is there a lot of talking in yours? The only talking that goes on in ours is if the instructor is explaining something. I can't wait till next weekend to finish it! To be certified we have to have 120 hours of student teaching, and with me having my own school that won't be too hard, I allready have 44 hours.

Well my instructor asked me and another guy, when I was a green belt, if I would be interested in teaching..and i was like..SURE! So we went looking around for a building and had no luck, and now im a red belt, and i've been teaching for a month in my own school...would I recommend it...YES! I was told by my instructor who was told by his first employeer that if you want to make a difference in people's lifes...TEACH..whether it be martial arts or school..teach something! You also learn by teaching..so it is definitly rewarding! I am working on become a certified instructor. I have a part time school, and I work with kids mostly and I love it more than anything.

No I dont go to the Rolla class, b/c I live too far away, I teach too in the system of Youn Wha Ryu, and train in AR... but I heard next year they are having state tournament there next year for Youn Wha Ryu, so i'll probably be there for that tourny! I will be praying for you!

It's a mixed MA. We have schools in 12 different states..if you go to https://www.younwha.com you will learn more about it...People do train in this style, a lot of people, we are the most complete style out there. We finished our two day of instructors course today...Master Ceth Jordan and Master Jeremy Fox will be teaching the course our next weekend we have it.

No Problem! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I Hope you go back, and maybe I will see you at a tournament one day! That'd be cool! Ask the instructor..it depends on the instructor when it is covered. Ground fighting starts standing up and usually ends on the ground with both people on the ground.

Yeah its kinda confusing! We study in style of Youn Wha Ryu..plain and simple..what Youn Wha Ryu is..is a complex system of different styles of MA...eh yeah some are like mixed MA...not good...but it's different..we start out in TKD because without a previous martial art then it will be hard to learn Youn Wha Ryu...does that make sense?but in our system if you've allready train in a diff style..and ur a black belt in that system..u can start at black belt in our sytem, u'll just have to learn all the palgue forms and yes we do do ground fighting

Hey guys!!!! This weekend starts instructors course for the TN Division of Youn Wha Ryu. It's a 4 day thing, on weekends...we have it Sept. 10, 11, 24, 25...they are 6 hours days and we break down everything from white belt to black belt, and learn how to teach it...this is my first time taking it!

There are two instructors that run the school (myself and another guy) we have higher ranks come in and help us out..the majority of our students are kids, and so we usually split the kid and adults up, then we split it up form there with the higher ranks

Hey guys! Here is my concern, we are coming up on our 5th week of being opened of the martial arts school I teach at, for 3 weeks we had 1 night a week, and now we have 2 nights a week...well we grew REALLY quick (17 students in 4 weeks with a goal of 25), very good response in the area, but my concern is...are we growing to quick? Is having this many students in a short amount of time common? Maybe you could share your student growth. THANKS!

I'm not really sure if he teaches anywhere anymore, because he is usually busy going around doing some sort of testing, and things. His son is getting married soon, i do know that..lol!
