Goju_boi replied to JKDkid2's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
could u tell us more about some of the differences between mantis styles? like the 8-step, or the blooming something, and 7-star? also the Northern and Southern styles -
Wing Chun is great,I've thought of starting up,but not sure.It looks even cooler in the movie "the Prodigal Son"
-
Or it could be a total McDojo exactly.

hapkido.. would you say it is "brutal"??

"Alot like Aikido" well I heard in many places that both Aikido and Hapkido were both developed from Daito Ryu Aikijutsu.I don't know how much truth there is to that. -

If i was in your place I would of probably choose the Hapkido too.

"...You trying to make me not see that movie? heh" whats wrong with Hustle and Flow?
-
Hapkido is great too, but anyways when you face someone on the streets, what are the chances that they will have any form of trining in the first place?
-
could be,but it's still too soon.isn't there a regulation in the organizations, that stops you from promoting that fast(unless it's a McDojang)?

"Of course you must realize the focus in Hapkido is NOT to submit an opponent but to actually break their limbs and cause them pain." whoa, I wouldn't want to fight a Hapkido person anytime soon -

yeah sure pass on the e-mail to see his opinion, but I wouldn't try to get him over here being that it's hard for me to get people to actually do this. And the people I know that do want to train in martial arts already go to my karate dojo. And for mantis I guess the reason there isn't a branch where you live is maybe the lineage, but I don't think this guy is a fake. Before he remodeled his website the picture he had on the top was of him on the cover of inside kung u magazine and like I asked earlier I've heard that SPM shares some similarities with Tai Chi and Wing Chun, any comments on that? And one more thing what weapons does SPM teach for the most part? -

check this out,I got it from another thread about Win Chun. "IAmGod wrote: Introduction video. http://www.leungtingwingtsun.net/multimedia/iwta.wmv Wing Chun for street fights. http://www.sifugrados.com/mcvideos.shtml This is one of my favorate video by Mater Gary Lam. You need to watch this. http://www.garylamwingchun.com/GaryLam.wmv In case you don't know who Gary Lam is, he is a Wing Chun master, as well as a MT kick boxing instructor. I believe he was the head trainer for the Hong Kong police once. http://www.garylamwingchun.com/photos_hk.html "

-

-
why did u leave Tang Soo Do?
-
It certainly does need to done a lot more, but as for grappling I don't think it will happen at that school, being that Northern Shaolin practitioners are stand up fighters when they fight
