The Undiscovered Style of MMA

I read an article about it a while back in BlackBelt magazine. It looked pretty interesting. -
if I was in a senseis position, I would have two belts. One for wear and tear and the other to prserve. I don't know if your could do that though.

It takes a lot of strength to do push-ups slowly, a lot more than it does to do them quickly. Try and do them at a steady pace: I Mississippi, 2 Mississippi. . . If you can do 75 reps at this rate, you'll be able to knock-off 100 at your faster rate. Explosive power comes from strength training not endurance training (push-ups are generally regarded as endurance buidling). However, you can increase the resitance, and thereby raise the strength building potential of the basic push-up by raising your feet, wearing a weight vest, or doing one-handed push-ups. also increases if you position your hands closer to your body

Jet Li's latest movie

Unleashed wasn't your average action movie, it had a lot more drama and a story line to match it. I disagree with you, Unleashed was a pretty good movie unless you just want pure action with no story line. -

aikido a grappling art?
Goju_boi replied to Goju_boi's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
no, it's not almost the same as judo/ju jutsu. B/c aikido doesn't have the ground work that these arts do. -
Nowadays, at least in the US, top-shelf athletes begin developing their skills at a very early age. The athletes that begin later are much like children beginning school later---they're that much behind. Few get to the top competitive levels without having years of skill development and training behind them. Could one start kickboxing at 25 and get in great shape, defend themself, and perhaps even compete in a few local tournaments successfully? Sure. Can one make a successful professional living against other competitors who began at 10 or 12? Not likely, though there are exceptions. Respectfully, Sohan yeah, what this dude said

karate to kung fu
Goju_boi replied to shotokanwarrior's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
It probably would have a hard time in the northern styles b/c we have southern roots -
yeah, with what u said about positioning. If u want to make them tougher keep your elbows really close to you or just put your hands together when u do them.
-
I guess u would have to be like the instructors favorite student though

karate to kung fu
Goju_boi replied to shotokanwarrior's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
well yeah I guess it depends. for example I guess people from my style (goju-ryu karate) wouldn't have that much of a hard time because our style has strong kung fu roots -
