  1. k-1 bows to kyokushin : "TOKYO, May 30, 2004 -- Kyokushin Karate fighters overwhelmed their K-1 opponents, winning all seven matchups in a unique fight event at the historic Budokan in central Tokyo. "Ichigeki" ("decisive strike") featured a K-1 vs Kyokushin format. " all the article at http://www.so-net.ne.jp/*/k-1gp/b04_0530_2.htm
  2. Fransisco filho for instance , kyokushin world champion and k-1 legend , when he started fighting in k-1 , he had no hand strikes to the head experience .
  3. What exactly do you mean , they way you dress ( i mean gear not uniform ) or the way you fight ???
  4. It's not like what you are saying , kyokushin puts a lot of emphasis on defending your face , as a mater of fact , kyokushin guard is very similar to a kickboxing guard
  5. My opinion is , what you teach is your variation of the style you belong to , and it's a part of the development of martial arts
  6. What exactly is catch wrestling ??
  7. Hey b3n , to answer your question i am nidan , Matsushima group (IKO3). No kata = No karate
  8. Akebono vs Bob Sapp Sapp destryed him , and that was MMA rules as far as i remember
  9. they worked with me on RealPlayer , however , they didn't work on windows media player ( ????? )
  10. You mean like Kyokushin's not really full contact because you can't use hands to the head? I kid, I kid. But just because there are pads, doesn't mean it's not full contact. Amatuer Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing tournaments all use not only gloves, but shinguards (in the case of Muay Thai and Kickboxing, obviously) and headgear. They're still full contact. Thanks for the wishes of luck. Thats what we call indirect full contact , still full contact though , good luck man
  11. Judo contains a wide variety of grappling techniques (standing and ground) while all what you get to c in a sumo match is two huge guys pushing around !!

  14. In my area , there are many kyokushinkai dojos , few shotokan schools and no TKD . We also have Muay tai , kick boxing , wrestling , aikido , judo , fencing ..
  15. I wouldn't say it's MUCH better -however , i would go with kyokushin any day - , kyokushin is 70 % striking while hapkido is 70 % grappling , and both are aggressive . Kyokushin and hapkido complement each others , cross training in both makes you an impressive fighter . Is there any form of tournament competition in hapkido ????
  16. No , sumo is not a complete art for self defense , however , sumo is not for average people and I won't pick a fight with a sumo practitioner .Those guys are huge
  17. If you are preparing for kumite , running and stamina drills are useful . And as mentioned , train on your weakest points in kumite AFTER running and stamina , also train on combos in front of a mirror
  18. Same case here , White Warlock is always one step ahead
  19. Is there any difference between san soo and san shoo , or are they the same ??
  20. Someone that discriminates based solely on their race. Chinese and Japanese people are both eastern Asian, hence the term racist probably wouldn't apply. Fair enough "racialism is a form of discrimination based on race, especially the belief that one race is superior to another. Racism may be expressed individually and consciously, through explicit thoughts, feelings, or acts, or socially and unconsciously, through institutions that promote inequality between races" <-- Google Don't get me wrong , i have nothing against lee , however , he always underestimated Japanese culture ( and martial styles ) , I recently watched one of his movies where he works with 5 karate-kas in a restaurant , those karate-kas take some serious beating from 2 common thugs while he destroys them (thugs) , and then , in all the movie ,he tried to show that Chinese boxing is better than Japanese karate Well , thats a discrimination based on culture ....
