in Shindo Jinen ryu karate, also we were taught doing high kick, we were always told that low kick is more efficient and effective in the real fight, thus split is not required.

I heard of this style. If I remebered correctly. It was used by Royal Guard during Chin dynasty, and some of the secret services in Taiwan, especially the one that does protecting for important official such as president. One of the main principle of the art is to protect others. It is one of the best style to defend other, that's why it was choose to used by Royal Guards. -

If Pai Mei is real, and all his martial arts ability is real as how novel describe him was. then I don't think BL can even touch him. -

kzshin replied to yireses's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
I think the coolest character in it is Ujio (or Ukyo). Plus, I think he is the only one that really really know Kenjitsu and Iaido. Actually in Japan, the guy play Ujioo is supposely bigger star than Ken watanabe. -

Witch one is the most famous style in the world?
kzshin replied to yireses's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
acutally, I dunno which one is most famous, but I found something interesting. In US, usualy people ask you "so you know karate?" or "you know Kung Fu?" when they heard that you are training in Martial Art. but when I got Taiwan, usually they ask, "so you know TKD?" or "so you know Kung Fu" and whe I go to japan, they usually ask, "so you study Judo?" seems like, some of martial art is more popular than the others in certain area. -
Akido is a really effective art. It has great influence in Shindo Jinen Ryu Karate that I study.

Old school traditional fighters vs today's MMA top guns
kzshin replied to cvkid's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I am not based anything on word of mouth Muaythaiboxer. I assume you taking muay thai, since you are taking muaythai, you should know that in the past Muaythai match has no rules, and there are no weight class, so you have to fight anyone and everyone. And those were fact, and was clearely indicated in thai history. So do you think an controllable match like today is harder or an less controllable match in past is harder??? Sevenstar. In the old day, when there were no guns, cannon, tank, and jet. The war were fought by close combat, so do you think those people who put their life in the front line will be lesser than MMA who probably only encounter life and death situation few times in his life, or never. Even our soliders today, they usually fight with guns and long range weapon, instead of close combat. And yes, all thai soldier, chinese soldier, or Japanese soilder and samurai were trained in MA pre 18 century, and they fight close combate with exception of Archer. Less condition cuz lack of venue??? not every martial artist in the past live in the mountain and be farmer. Gumbi, yes modern(post 20 century) MMA do make some improvement, but how much of imrovement?? I will say alot of the improvements are like Judo, which is to make the art less dangerous to practitice. and Some of the improvement actually is to simplifed or take out some of the moves, cuz it might do too much damage or chances to use is less. however, in other words, that mean MMA probably know less.
