  1. I never heard this style before, and this is first time I heard that Sun Tzu has a son name Sun Bin.
  2. Tony Jaa Ruled. He makes other Martial Actors lloos ike clown. I have Ong Bak DVD, and I watch it soooo many times.
  3. The closest thing to Raven's fighting style that you can learn is from Bujinkan, and yes, they are really effective. However, finding a decent place that teach such art outside of Japan can be difficult. wrestler??? I thought King is a wrestler. what you mean by classical wrestler??? by the way, King is resemblence of "Tiger Mask" a very famous pro wrestler in Japan.
  4. I don't do Ninjustsu, however, Raven's moves do look similar to Bujikan and also those non-US production ninja movies that I have watched in the past. but just like what Jax_Evolution said, don't worry about how real it is, just enjoy the game. My favor characters are Asaka and Jin.
  5. I think training with the instructor's brother, will strengthen you up better and faster than others, not to mentioned that you might be learn more some extra technics. If it's me I will definately train with this brother of instructor.
  6. Yeah, as for now, no other martial art actors can compete with him.
  7. Jimukan, that's sensei High's place. Good Find. The information you got is absolutely accurate. And due to the Akido influence, we were expose to various grappling technics even at early stage of training.
  8. well, it didn't really say what kinda of Chinese kenpo Feng Wei is using, Just like For Jin, is traditional Karate, but didn't really said which style of traditional karate. actually if you eamine closely, you will find moves for some character are actually based on different styles of same type of martial art.
  9. Before black belt the kata we practice are really similar (almost same as shotokan), we practice kata such as Taikyuku, Hian, Tekki....and such, after Nindan (I think) then instructor will teach Shindo Jinen Ryu's special katas. I am not black belt yet, so I dunno how many are out there. However, I happened to be lucky enough to know one of the special katas. It's called taisabaki shodan. This kata was developed by Konishi O'sensei, and has strong influence of Akido, so this kata has involves grappling. I have seen another special kata called "Seiryu" however, I think this kata were also teach either in wado ryu or shito ryu ( forgot which one) cuz this kata was co-developed by founder of Shindo Jinen ryu (Konishi O'sensei) and two other Japanese karate founders.
  10. baji chuan is a very hard chinese style. It was widely used by Royal Guard during Chin Dynasty (the last dynasty). One of it's emphasis is to protect others, which is unique than other art. Some of moves were actually sacrafice self to protect other. It's a very "body gurad" style.
  11. I am training in Shindo Jinen-ryu Karate. Actually our style are similar (or maybe I should say "combination" of) to several traditional karate, includes Shito-ryu, Shotokan, and Wado ryu..etc. With very strong influence from Akido (which make us different from other karate styles), as well as influence from Kenjitsu, Iadio. Thanks for telling me taht Sho Kosugi studied Shindo Jinen-Ryu, cuz I didn't know. This makes me want to rent one of his movie to watch. And thanks for the name of the movie, regarding Sensei O'yama.
  12. isn't there is a japanese Karate movie about the story of O'yama sensei, the founder of Kyokushing ryu????
  13. I some how disagree with this. Let's not forget, Muay Thai was originally used in military since anciet Thai, and was evolved in years to kill enemy effectiviely. However, like many other arts, due to the sport aspect, what people usually see in the tournament or has been taught are usually the softer side of the art. The only art that I will think that focusing mainly in hurting instead of kill, will most likely be Shaio Ling Boxing, cuz monks aren't suppose to kill.
  14. Streetfighters. The cartoon has better fight scene than the movie.
  15. haha, Ali explained it pretty well. I also remeber there are some chinese martial art schools called themselves "kung fun karate school" cuz back in the days, people not sure what's kung fu, so they put karate in it, so they know it's some kinda of Oriental Martial arts.
  16. This ususally com from somone doesn't know how to speak Chinese. For Dojo, the direct chinese translation should be "Tao Tsean (don't really know how to spell it english)." literally mean a place for Tao or Do or Way. It doesn't necessary need to be place for martial art. And they Dojo and Tao Tsean acutally shared the same writing between Kanji in Japanese and Tao Tsean in Traditional Chinese. regarding "Kwoon" I think only cantonese used this term more often.
  17. yeah, Baji Quan is a very hard style.
  18. what kinda wrestling you guys are talking about?? regular High school wrestling??? or real Russian or Mogolian wrestling art???? They are very different you know.
  19. let's not forget some martial art were widely used in military. TKD were taught to Korean soliders Muay Thai were widely used buy Thai soliders, now and then. Karate and Judo were also taught to Japanese soliders in world war II Baji quan were used by secret service in Taiwan. to name a few......
